My husband and I came here for NYE dinner. It was easy to make a reservation, which was nice. When we arrived, the hostess wasn't too friendly. We were seated quickly at a table for two, near a window, but right next to the bar. We started off with the shrimp cocktail, which was very good (special menu for NYE). My husband ordered a martini, which he said was a little bit too strong. He wasn't thrilled with it. I ordered the steak, which was too well-done (I ordered it medium, and it was close to well-done) and my husband had the lobster, which was a really small portion. It was off of the special menu for NYE. The location is very noisy. We were hoping for a romantic evening together based on other reviews, but were a little disappointed at how noisy it was. In general, drinks and food are always great and 86 offers a really nice vibe. We love that they offer indoor & outdoor seating so you can enjoy the nicest of days. Could be served with some lime and they charge $2 for gluten free tacos when originally corn tacos are the best and they're gluten free ? Anyhow, the wings were too salty. We had a private family luncheon. There were 16 of us on Saturday afternoon. The food was delicious with a wide variety of choices, including Gluten Free. Our server Mara was incredible! She was an experienced/polished server. All food came out fresh and hot or cold as the dish dictated. Mara was always anticipating our needs and providing all requests promptly. Got 2 drinks and 2 sushi rolls, sushi was great but my drink was super strong and not to mention that it took us atleast 30 mins to get our drinks plus sushi. bar tender seemed to only help the regulars. Finally it was time for our reservation and our apps were pretty good we got the tempura veggies and mussels. Entrees we're easily a 3/10. I got surf and turf and it had absolutely no flavor and my bf got the strip and asked for it medium and it was rare. I sent my food back and got calamari instead and it wasn't great either. My fiancé and I went here for dinner with another couple on a Friday night. We made reservations on Open Table a few weeks ahead to ensure we could get a table. Only having to wait about 5 minutes, we were fortunately seated in a quiet part of the restaurant which was perfect for us to talk throughout our visit. First, we placed our drink orders which came out very quick considering how busy they were. For our dinner, I ordered the chicken bruschetta and my fiancé got the Kobe burger. The bruschetta was fresh and full of flavor. The chicken itself was cooked and seared to perfection. I was impressed with the portion size of my meal and was able to take a good amount of left overs home. My fiancé was overly satisfied with his burger stating it was juicy and seasoned nicely. The couple we were with really enjoyed their meals as well. Being gluten free, we were happy to see how many gluten free options they offered on the menu. The service here was awesome, our food came out in a reasonable time for a Friday night and our waitress checked back with us frequently. The atmosphere is fun and welcoming too! Wow what a roller coaster of a place! I've never experienced so much inconsistency in my life. The service was pretty terrible, our waiter had no clue about the drink menu or the food. So it was pretty disappointing. We even sat close to the owner and the service did not improve. I cannot believe how this place is run. They weren't even busy so I'd hate to see what its like when they are. I had to ask countless times for the waiter to fill my glass of water, I'm sorry but when I'm paying the price I'm paying for food at this place I do not expect to die of thirst! If the menu didn't interest us I would have left before we even ordered food. The drinks are half priced for happy hour which runs until 7 and you can sit outside gorgeous Doylestown so that was a plus and they do have some vegetarian options and I think 1 vegan option on the menu so props for that. Now onto food! My friend had oysters and they were not even shucked properly. She ate them anyway, but for 15 bucks for 6 oysters totally not worth it. I had the red beet carpacio salad! This salad was amazing! Shaved roasted beets and a goat cheese fritter! Yumm! My friend had the Vegas roll and she said it was amazing! Some of the best sushi she has ever had. For dinner I got the lobster mac and a side of the wok fried brussel spouts. The lobster mac was the WORST mac and cheese I've ever had. It tasted like paste (basically uncooked roux). I understand you don't want to overpower the flavor of the lobster, but there is no way there was 4 cheeses in that sauce, I actually questioned whether they forgot to add the cheese at all. I couldn't even eat this dish. The brussel sprouts on the other had were some of the best I've ever had! They were crispy and fresh and the ginger sauce was amazing! I fell in love. It's such a shame that they are here. I may have to just come back to get the brussel sprouts. My friend had the Bousin crusted prime aged filet mignon. She said it was good but nothing to brag about. It looked ok. We chose to end our meal with coffee and cupcakes. The cupcakes were huge, but definitely not worthy of my time, calories, or money. It's just weird that this place serves sushi, its like they are trying to dabble in everything when they should focus on a solid menu. I went last night for the first time and must have just missed my friend Barry, we arrived about 830 and had a cocktail at the bar. I had a Manhattan and it was mixed well and in a big glass, I love a drink that is worthy of a big glass! The bar was really hopping with a nice crowd of people. It was a little crowded because they were having a happy hour special but that's expected. Sushi was amazing the 86 West one is my favorite i also got the 86 West Burger with the fried egg it was delicious i just wish the egg was more runny and not fully cooked. I was surprised to see so many three-star reviews for 86 West on Yelp. I've been here a few times and always leave happy. All the food is very good. I'd highly recommend any of their sushi but especially the Godzilla Roll. Also the fish tacos were great as well. It was disappointed though that on my most recent trip the beer taps were broken and they have a very basic bottle list so pretty much no craft beer was available. I would love to hear more from my friend Jason who rated it 1 star. We went last night (Saturday) at the recommendation of a good friend. We arrived a bit early (6:50) and the place was hopping. Its owned by the owners of the Knight House and is next door on State Street. Its large, well laid out and nicely appointed (despite the fact that they still had Christmas decorations up). Fairly loud and difficult to have conversations, but nice crowd (so it depends what you are looking for). The food was ok. Specialties are small plates and sushi. I tried both. The hamachi was ok, not great. When I saw it on the menu (6 pc for $12) it seemed a good value. They were cut uncharacteristically thin, so it was not good value. Cocktails also mixed weakly (my wife had a cosmo and after coming from the Freight House earlier said it seemed "all cranberry"). We ordered a filet mozzarella app which they never gave us and a 6oz filet (that smelled and tasted like old smelly feet), salmon that had no flavor, crab dip that looked more canned tuna salad and fish tacos we are afraid of touching since the rest of it sucked. Called the restaurant and after telling me that there is no manager, one was magically found when I insisted on speaking with someone in charge. I have been here a number of times and every time have been extremely satisfied with both the food and the service. I have eaten at 86 west many times and today was today was the worst service I have ever had. Megan took forever to take our order and sort of ignored the table. She then brought us a whole bottle of $50 white wine that was warm. We asked for a cold bottle of white wine and she acted very annoyed. She brought us a new bottle of wine finally but still charged us for the other bottle that was warm. When I asked why we were charged she was again - annoyed with us and said well you drank part of the bottle - we had no choice because it was brought to us open and warm and then finally took the warm bottle of wine off the check. Came here with some friends over the weekend. Nice cute place love the ambience. Food comes out a bit slow in my opinion. We got our apps about 30 mins later after the order was taken. We got a flat bread which was ok. Got zucchini fries-bomb, cauliflower-bomb. Entrees we just shared were sliders - great but over cooked. Widow and lobster roll - it was okay. And the shrimp scampi was bland as anything. Probably the worst one I've ever had tbh lol needs so much more salt and better ingredients for the price. We made reservations and upon arriving we were escorted to our table. Our waitress was very nice and even though they were quite busy, she never made us feel rushed when asking a question. A guest at the bar was quite toasted, came getting extremely loud, keep hoping around to his friends seats. For the price of the meal, I was not impressed with how he was handled. All the employees were watching him and at one point he decided he was going to survey us about beer. As he swayed around, drunkenness talk to us two waiters stepped around him and kept going. His friends were at the bar laughing. Took about three minutes for our waitress to show up to escort him back to the bar. Which they did decide to cut him off from drinking. Worst Cobb salad I've ever had. This place's "take" on it was to mix everything up with the dressing and include about an ounce of bacon, an ounce of egg, and a half-ounce of crumbled bleu cheese. It was all lettuce, and not the traditional romaine. News flash -- there are supposed to be discernible *rows* of five or six ingredients -- in more or less equal portions -- atop a bed of romaine lettuce! THAT is a Cobb salad. We visited the restaurant for my wife's birthday. She had been here many years earlier and remembered a great experience. We had made early dinner reservations and wanted to sit outside. This was not possible as they were already busy due to happy hour. We elected to sit inside and were directed to a solitary wobbly table in the back of the restaurant. As this was uncomfortable for us we asked if we could sit at one of the five empty high-tops in the bar area. This seemed to be an inconvenience for the hostesses so we elected to sit at the inside bar which is normally out preference. After being ignored by the female bartender we were finally greeted. I ordered a draft and my wife ordered a glass of premium wine that was one of her favorites. The bartender promptly tried to talk her out of it as it was not on the "happy hour menu". This was not a concern to us as that is what she preferred to drink. We ordered an appetizer which was delivered by a runner. It was good. The service however was not. We were never followed up on, our appetizer was done and our drinks were empty and not one of the two bartenders asked us how we were doing or asked us if we wanted additional drinks. The female bartender actually never spoke to us at all the whole time we were seated. We sat for 10 min, no drinks, no food. All this while the bartenders dealt with a broken glass in the ice mishap. We were able to flag one of them down for the check. They were too busy to actually take our payment so we left it on the bar and went to a more friendly customer oriented establishment for our dinner. Overall poor customer service.
