Okie!!!! Boca Del Mar needs way more hype than it's getting. This is a Montgomeryville, PA gem that flew under my radar for way too long. Walked in and the vibe was already a win, warm and inviting, the kind of place where you just relax right into the vibe, or head to the large bar and watch some World Cup action. Went for lunch. Service was on point too, attentive but never annoying about it. Friendly and had real suggestions when asked about faves. They brought out complimentary ceviche and honestly, incredible start. Fresh, acid balanced perfectly so you actually taste the fish, clean, instead of just lime juice and spice. And can we talk about the rice? Sounds basic, looked normie, but it was somehow the most flavorful part of the whole meal. This flavor bomb looked plain but IYKYK that this level of execution just looks simple. The rice alone will have you thinking about indulging your inner fat kid and ordering extra to take home. Like the dessert that you'll likely skip because the portions are filling. Ps. Get the flan! We went all in and ordered the seafood chimichanga, steak, shrimp fajitas, and guac on the side. Everything was cooked exactly right. Nice char on the grilled stuff, proteins juicy and tender, nothing dry, nothing overdone. The sauces were bright and punchy too, tasted like rich Mexican flavors with that fresh from the sea quality paired with exceptionally grilled seafood and tender meat. If you're anywhere near Montgomeryville and haven't been, fix that. This place deserves a crowd. read more

Wasn't sure what to expect- but the pictures looked good, so we tried it. The food was so so delicious We were there at an odd time, around 3:00 on a Thursday, so it wasn't crowded. The waitress was very sweet, and brought us a second serving of ceviche with really crisp and fresh chips. We had a nice date at Boca Del Mar. The service was amazing as our waitress was attentive and knowledgeable. The food came out quickly and was flavorful. They gave us a free tilapia ceviche as our appetizer. The drinks were strong and delicious. The spicy margarita had spicy undertones that don't detract from the overall flavor. The smokey mezcal has a nicely salted rim that compliments the flavor. We had the carne azada and pollo azado which were nicely seasoned and juicy. The Mexican sushi was an unexpected treat. Boca del Mar is the BEST seafood at a Mexican restaurant that I've ever eaten. They don't skimp on the portions and the seafood is cooked tender, unlike the rubbery, tiny portions I typically expect. If you eat in, you also get one tray of free fish ceviche. I've been here three times now. I'd recommend coming here for lunch for cheap seafood tacos (lunch specials price). If coming for dinner, get their paella variation. It's a shame not more people come here because it's a well kept space that serves well cooked seafood for a reasonable price. That said, the seating area is spacious and often empty, so you won't have to deal with it being too crowded, even on a weekend night. read more

It was amazing!!!!! The Mayan tacos may have been the best tacos I've ever had. So tender and filled with goodness. The seafood was fresh and tasty. We came for an early dinner on Saturday. The have a pretty large drink menu and regular menu. My wife and I had margaritas. Lots of choices as well as a tequila bar. I had a Mexican version of paella (Para Ella) which was tremendously delicious with octopus, scallops, shrimp, and Alaskan king crab. My wife had a seafood chimichanga dinner. We stopped here because we were in the neighborhood and of the other positive reviews and the seafood options. We were essentially alone at lunch here probably due to the road work just outside inhibiting travel. Nonetheless service was attentive and friendly. The server brought us chips and salsa along with a sample of ceviche. The ceviche was fresh and refreshing. The salsa hot (green) and red mild were also good. We asked our server to recommend a starter. After some discussion we settled on a the oysters topped with other seafood and some cheese. We ordered a 1/2 dozen and there was so much seafood that we were almost full after eating three. Each oyster was topped with shrimp, octopus and surimi. I could have done without the surimi but that's the way it came. We also ordered a shard plate called chapuzon which had shrimp, octopus and oyster in a spicy red sauce. It was pleasantly spicy and enough for 2. It was served with more chips and some saltines. My dining partner was quite pleased with his special margarita. Decor is casual bar style with lots of beer promo items, bright blue booths and reddish tile floors and little natural light. One negative was the sticky floors. The food is FANTASTIC and unlike the typical "Mexican" food one normally encounters in a US restaurant. This isn't Chipotle, folks. You want a cheap burrito, go to Chipotle or Moe's. But if you want the real deal, Boca del Mar is where you want to spend your $$. This is Sinaloan style Mexican food, which is all about fresh fresh fresh seafood. Sinaloa is on the west coast of Mexico, across the Gulf of California from Baja. Some of the best sport fishing in the world is located in this region, so its no surprise that there are lots of seafood dishes on the menu. as you browse the menu, you'll get a a bowl of fresh ceviche-style dip with homemade chips, it's delicious. I'd pay for this as an appetizer, honestly, but they serve it for free. One reviewer mentioned the prices. Well, they aren't that high, considering that it's fresh seafood (seafood averages 2x-3x more per pound in cost than pork or beef), and holy moly the PORTIONS ARE HUGE. When you go, make sure you are hungry. I can put down a big meal, but even I had to take half of it home, which made a fantastic lunch the next day! On my latest trip, we ordered the table-side guacamole, which is fantastic and more than enough for 3 people ($15). They make it table-side, obviously, and tweak it to the heat/spice level you prefer. YUM! I had the Langostinos Estilo Sinaloa, which is prawn shrimp in a dark Sinaloan sauce. Delicious. My friend had the Pina Rellena, which is shrimp, crab, octopus, and scallops cooked in a creamy mushroom sauce. It looked amazing and to be honest, I almost fought him for it. The service was very good, so friendly. Everyone is warm and inviting, and the owner stopped by for a quick chat to make sure everything was good. Of course I said it was amazing. First, the entire place is beautiful. There's murals on the wall and the whole theme of the place really comes across well. Next the service, who were also really good. We came here for lunch for my birthday. Been wanting to check this place out. The ambiance is great, service great, food fair to very good. We ordered from the lunch menu. It came with chips and homemade salsa, and small bowl of mixed fish ceviche. These were great! I ordered cod fish tacos with rice and black beans. It was very good. My hubby ordered caldo de res, he said the flavor was good, it needed more in the soup than just beef chunks, would suggest pozole. Overall fair to good. It was not his favorite. He had quesabirrias with shredded beef. He also thought this was fair to good, but overall not exciting. The service was excellent. I would love to try it again. I would go for seafood options. I'm in town for a short visit and came across Boca Del Mar. When I noticed the exterior decor I was surprised to see a Mexican restaurant with a costal design. Once inside my party and I were greeted by a friendly hostess who asked how our day was going. Once seated the friendly vibe continued. Our serve was friendly and very welcoming. The staff's serves were attentive. The seafood dishes we ordered were AMAZING. As a person who grew up in the south on the Atlantic coast I've eaten my fair share of quality seafood. Boca Del Mar rates as one of my top ten favorite seafood restaurants for the freshness, quantity, flavor and pricing. I'm even including in my rating seafood I've eaten around the world. Who would have guessed that a strip mall restaurant would have such great service outstanding food and fair prices. I definitely recommend trying Boca Del Mar. The quality of the food is good, overpriced for size of the portions, rice is cheap, they could give you more than 2 scoops, they should tell you that if you order an extra little plate of the ceviche they give you with the tortilla chips it is $8.00. The "salad" was a disappointment. Cocktails have no alcohol at all. The service was awful, it wasn't busy and it took for ever to get our food, they didn't know who order what and the cherry on top, tip is already included in your bill. Our server never came to check on us after we got our food. We had to flag her down if we needed her but she constantly checked on her other tables. Our server & No manager came to ask us with if everything was okay. Terrible service. Don't recommend at all. Server had an attitude with us all night when it was her fault she didn't greet us. We were very patient with her & did not get a manager but they didn't even check on us AT ALL to try to compensate for that time. She charged us for a drink that spilled on the table & didn't bring us anything to clean it up with. We ordered seafood boil & they didn't bring us anything crab utensils. Terrible service from the server & everyone else in the building. Super unprofessional. It's sad to treat a family of 5 like this especially when we chose it as our birthday dinner. We stopped in on a very hot day looking for a light lunch. We were greeted with a basket of chips, two types of salsa, and a plate of ceviche. I thought that was worth five stars right there. We shared the table-side made guacamole. It was outstanding. we also shared an appetizer that was a large cucumber split in half and then filled with ceviche. We got the fish ceviche and on half and shrimp ceviche on the other. It came as a platter with sliced fruit and vegetables sprinkled with Tajin. It was very tasty and refreshing. Service was good. This place is not an inexpensive burrito and enchiladas joint. It is a real restaurant serving real food. The portions are enormous. We were barely able to finish our two appetizers.
