I came for the grand opening weekend. I was excited for the opening since I've been to 85°C bakeries in California many times and my favorite item is the giant marble taro bun. This location was smaller than other locations especially in California and Texas. There seemed to be large seating area upstairs though. I got the marble taro, matcha choco bun, and the Hokkaido egg tart. I wanted the mochi egg tart but they were sold out. There was a grand opening promo where you get a free NY cup with $20 purchase. Also, if you have the app, you get a free sea salt coffee or sea salt jasmine tea. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The marble taro bun and the other items tasted just like the ones in California. I will definitely be back! read more

Great addition to Tangram mall! The pictures gave off Paris Baguette/TLJ vibes so I was expecting to hand over two arms and a kidney for the pastries but they were surprisingly very affordable. Absolutely loved the milk pudding bun and cinnamon twist! The marble taro was huge and tasted pretty ok. Mango custard bun was a bit disappointing though because the filling tasted very artificial and didn't resemble mango at all. Staff were all working very hard restocking the pastries that were flying off the shelves, and with a smile and friendly attitude to boot. Overall atmosphere was excellent. I completely agree with others that it is so much better than your typical popular chains but I think it's even better than lil cafes in the city. The coffee was strong yet still sweet but not too much. Now I'd like to try different flavors. The pastries were also pretty good as well. The croissant with chocolate was very crispy..L really enjoyed it..even my milk cream bun went really well with the coffee. I was attracted by a few 85C when I visited west coast. So when I heard that the brand is coming to flushing, I was excited! This branch may not be as big but better than most of the bakeries in Flushing. The bread selection is big and interesting. Not the same as the typical bakeries. I'm happy that 85C has finally come to Flushing with its fresh selection of breads! A couple kinks they still need to work through however--there is no space to really eat or sit while waiting. Their upstairs area as very limited seating and seems to have alot of wasted space in the middle. Also, their drink ordering system is very chaotic. The workers making drinks are so busy that they don't have time to help customers. I tried to flag someone down for 30 minutes and they just wouldn't even look at you if it wasn't your order number they called. At the end it turned out they had made my order and stuck it in the fridge but never called my number. Very frustrating experience and I would caution anyone who tries to order online via their app. read more

This is a fairly new bakery in tangram that is a welcome addition to the mall. Most things are baked on site and you can smell it when you walk in. I like that there are a diversity of buns, but they also have nice classics in there as well. Unlike other flushing bakeries, they are more reasonably priced for buns, especially given the size and also fillings that they put in. Today was my second time going to the bakery and I really enjoyed their hokaiddo milk bun, which had a nice sweetness, but still lightness of Chinese whipped cream. I don't know how to explain this, but there's a certain type of whipped cream in coconut pastries that have a tinge of salt that is classic for these type of buns when I was growing up. Anyway the workers are friendly- the only thing I wish they would do is to give you napkins when requested at the register. Pleasantly surprised by how good the wheel cake was!! I got the original matcha and cream wheel cake. It came out immediately which I was happy about. I was already full at this point and wasn't sure if I could finish the whole cake but with how smooth it was I chowed it down. Went to Tangram for the first time and have been super excited to finally have 85C bakery in NY! I walked by the bakery about 3 times and the line was out the door each time! I didn't mind walking by it though because I was always greeted with a warm sweet buttery fragrance that made my mouth water. I could already anticipate the warm, soft, slightly chewy, buttery bite when I finally get to my pickings. There are so many pastries and items to choose from that your wait time on line passes by quickly while looking at all their selections. They have the more modern choices with a combination of some of the old school bun choices. I saw a few ube and matcha items incorporated into breads, cake rolls, cookies and cakes. We bought a few buns and my boys loved it. The texture was exactly what I was looking and craving for. Soft, buttery, I was completely satiated. I grew up in Chinatown where there was a Chinese bakery at almost every corner, so I definitely have my own checklist of what defines a good bun. Got the guava danish, coconut milk bun, mango slice cake, royal chocolate cup and a matcha latte. Everything was good! The 2 pastries I ate before I could even take a pic. Small seating area in the top floor was a bit too warm so I hope they lower down the temperature next time. Service was quick even though there wasn't a line around 8pm. Prices are reasonable. The cake does not have any flavor to its taste, and the mango is green, sour, and not soft. Since we served it at a party of 20+ guests, this 85C location and the mango filling will not be their first choice for birthday cake. May be it is ok for your $2 bun. It seems that the service has gone downhill since they first opened, but at least the pastries are still good. I finally got my hands on their Hawaiian chicken bread and it was actually pretty good. I recently discovered they had an app and there was a welcome reward so I decided to use it. I ordered their sea salt jasmine milk tea at 12:13 on the app and it said it would be ready at 12:38. I got there a bit earlier so I decided to just wait. At 12:41, I asked 2 employees about my mobile pick up order and showed them the order confirmation screen. One of them seemed like the team lead asked me what the name on the order was and when I told them, the team lead turned to the other employee and pointed to the back so I assumed he was either about to prepare it or it was made early and he was just going to get it. Next thing I know, he's making 3 other drinks that were definitely not mine and then the team lead was walking back and forth and refused to look at me. I waited until 12:43 and asked another employee about my mobile pick up order and I showed her my order confirmation screen again. She turned around and opened the fridge under the countertop, found my drink, and handed it to me. I don't know what was so hard about that and I don't know what the first 2 employees' deal was.
