I found Mark and his company when I googled computer repair and service and learned one of his offices was a block from my home. I called them when my rather ancient computer wouldn't turn on at all. I wasn't sure he could fix it, as it is rather old, and it had been in storage for several years. He said he could take a look at it and let me know what the problem was. Mark was very professional and nice. My only complain would be with handling business on his porch. I understand it is a private home, but inviting a customer inside to conduct business would be a plus. This will NOT discourage me from doing business with him in the future. Diagnostics and repairs to our Dell PC with a bad power supply was done fast and accurately. The only wait had to do with part shipment delays. I did have to reset the BIOS to accept the hard drives (2=Raid1). I guess that got corrupted also in the power failure. As you can tell I know a thing or 2 about PC's. My desktop computer died the other day and I took it to Office Depot for their free service. the best they could do was tell me the power supply and hard drive were fine and it was probably something else, most likely the motherboard. They charged me $10.00 to inspect the hard drive, and when I came to pick it up, they had neglected to mention that the charge didn't include reassembling the computer. They wanted to ship it off to who knows where for 7 to 10 business days. So I checked the yelp reviews, called 818-PCservice and actually had an intelligent conversation from Mark. He quoted $240 or so if it turned out to be the motherboard, but he also told me something I had just learned the day before. The folks at Office Depot don't know what they are doing. Mark tested it and found the motherboard was fine and the power supply was the problem. As it turns out the 2 parts cost just about the same thing, but Mark told me the power supply was an hour less labor. Thats right, parts and labor came in at 75.00 less than I was quoted. I dropped the puter off at 9 am and even though he had to run to the warehouse to get a part, he had me up and running by about 6 pm. Makes me proud to be an 818. read more

I would like to add my review to all the others who reviewed this company. I unfortunately suffered from a virus on my laptop which was infected by malware. My partner found this company on Yelp and was impressed with all of the favorable ratings it received as well as its owner, Mark. Mark put my mind at ease at once when I met him -- and he repaired my laptop within a day and a half! How about THAT for service? I picked it up today and he told me installed an anti-virus program and told me to contact him if there were any (future) concerns and I had to give him a big hug afterwards. Wow! Mark is the Man. I was told by the "Mac Genuis" that the motherboard on my Macbook Pro was dead and that the part alone was going to be $526. I called and spoke with Mark for the first time. He asked me a few questions. When I told him that after chime sound the screen was black he interrupted me and said "wait a second, you hear the chime sound?" I said yes, and he said your motherboard is fine. The Chime only sounds post motherboard initiation. He then advised me to reset the PRAM and the SMC. I followed his suggestion and I am EXTREMELY HAPPY to report that I am typing this Yelp review from my trustee Macbook Pro! He also suggested to clean the heat vents with compressed air and to download a free software called SMCFanControl. He explained that it will monitor how hot your computer is and to never let it get hotter than 70C. I am also EXTREMELY HAPPY to report that before installing that software my machine was running at sometimes up to 85C! I went into the preferences and increased my fan speed and now it is running at 43C! As I said, Mark IS THE MAN! He is so generous and kind with his knowledge. Any Mac owner knows Apple will charge you way more than you should be paying for anything to get fixed. Apple was going to charge me more than Mark did and would also send my computer away, anywhere from 4 days to 10 days. WOW! That would not work for me in my last semester of school and in the middle of finals. Mark gave me a good price and said he would have my laptop for 40 minutes to an hour just to fix. I took my 2008 Sony VAIO laptop to Mark when it wouldn't start 'without the installation disc". I no longer had the disc, and I didn't want to spend the money on a new one if the problem was beyond the disc. I basically thought my laptop was on it's last legs for the last year or so (it was slow, the battery wouldn't hold a charge, it was heavy and just out of style), and I just wanted to see if anyone could tell me if the cost for repair would be worth it for me, or if I should just invest in a new one. Now, I am program savvy, but not computer savvy, which means that a repairperson could easily take advantage of me cost-wise. Once I contacted Mark and expalined my situation and concerns about throwing money at an old laptop (I've had my eye on an expensive Apple Macbook...), he told me what he thought would be the problem. We arranged for me to take it over to his home business where he gave me an invoice for $0 to diagnose the problem. Later that day he contacted me via email with an invoice for the service, equipment and software breakdown and then called me after to go over the invoice and explain everything. I approved the repairs, and he had my laptop ready for pick up within about 48 hours! He also kept me updated via email during the service time. Great communication on his end!
