There is HAIR in my food and they DONT care. I called to inform the restaurant after already receiving a refund from DoorDash just to inform them of the quality that they are sending out as it may have been a simple mistake. I spoke with Kimberly there and she immediately met me with attitude and denying that there's anyone there that works there with "long" black hair and that they all have a net on their hair. she was playing with semantics as I told her I don't know if the hair is 6 inches long I'm about to touch it and measure it but instead of simply apologizing or meeting me with care or concern she kept breaking up a refund. I stated multiple times to her that I already received a refund from DoorDash that's not why I am calling. It's absolutely disgusting to receive a hair in my food and then even worse to be met with piss poor customer service. This was my introduction to this restaurant and I will never be back.

DO NOT EVER GO TO THIS SCAMMING PLACE ! I ordered snow crab to-go and got home to bag filled with shrimp !! No crab in sight ! A $20 order and get home and see a $12 meal !! I am so angry at this unprofessional ghetto place ! The cashier said I should brought the shrimp back for a refund THE NEXT DAY !! I tossed it and simply wanted either a refund or atleast the difference from what I paid ! The cashier was so rude and nasty ! Not apologetic or anything about the mistake THEY MADE ! No ambiance ! This place is trashy ! Get your seafood boil from somewhere else. I hope they go out of business stealing money from their own patrons.

HAIR IN FOOD! No REFUND OR REMAKE RECIEVED

There was a long thin piece of hair in my food! I have very thick curly hair. Regardless, it was not mine. Instead of customer service and accountability, I got no refund and they did not remake my order. The accused it of being my hair! I am highly offended by the young woman with the glasses at the register.

the fish from here was great. the coleslaw was a bit liquidy/runny. the tarter sauce was ok. there were no lemons to squeeze on top.

Worst experience and customer service ever. I will never return. I ordered a combo twice and they still didn't get it right. Serves with no plate, no utensils, and zero friendly staff. Just awful

They have a nasty smell stinch. It's not clean at this location. But the other locations are pretty on point. The food is good.

On a rainy Houston day, my parents and I were looking for a lunch option before I drove back to…read moreNorth Texas. They had recently tried Pappadeaux for the first time with a friend and loved it, so Pappadeaux it was. Despite what felt like a small storm outside and it being a weekday lunch time, the inside was relatively busy. We sat at a booth by the window. Our waiter was timely and fast. We ordered off the lunch specials. Not too long and our food came out. What stood out first was the portions. Texas-sized. No problems with that. I got the crawfish combination - crawfish etouffee, fried crawfish, dirty rice. It was extremely delicious. Plenty of crawfish, both of the fried and etoufee variety. Both went well with the rice. The fried crawfish paired well with the tartar and ketchup. The etoufee was creamy and savory. Highly recommend getting it. Additionally, I tried some of my parents' dishes. My dad's mixed seafood grill was delciious, not only the grilled shrimp but the grilled veggies as well. My mom's shrimp po boy was hearty and went well with a cup of shrimp gumbo that came with it. Only negative thing I want to note from our experience is that apparently at Pappadeaux they do have a complimentary bread service. However, we were not offered it at all. We saw some of the other tables get it and I thought it was just something that you had to order. No problem with that. However, I later learned online that it's supposed to just come with your meal like at many other restaurants. I understand wanting to minimize food waste. Though we weren't even presented the option at all. Nonetheless, I'd still say that Pappadeaux is a good restaurant with great quality food. Would not mind coming again.

I actually went in craving the sautéed crab fingers, but unfortunately, they were sold out. I decided to go with the blackened crab and shrimp, lemon butter trout instead. The dish was just okay for me. The service, however, was amazing, as always! While the experience was pleasant, the food didn't quite live up to what I remember Pappadeaux being. Sometimes, the food is just okay, and that's how this visit felt for me.

5 Stars - Authentic Szechuan that absolutely nails the classics…read more During our short trip to Houston, as a custom, we were determined to find real Szechuan food, and luckily we found Hu's Kitchen. The location is a bit unassuming, and parking is definitely tough (the spaces are very shallow), but the second we walked through the doors and smelled the Szechuan peppercorns, I knew we were in exactly the right place. I generally judge a Szechuan restaurant by their 夫妻肺片 (Fuqi Feipian)--which they cleverly name "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" on the menu. They completely nailed it. The beef, tripe, and tendon were incredibly cohesive together, yet you could tell each component was prepared and marinated in a slightly different way to perfectly highlight its specific texture. The chili oil was right on the spot. We went through a massive bowl of rice just eating this dish alone. Honestly, if I weren't feeding a family of four, I could have just ordered that and been perfectly happy. While the Fuqi Feipian proves their skill with dry dishes, the 水煮魚片 (Fish in Szechuan Hot Chili Oil) proves their skill with wet ones. It's another must-order. The execution was flawless--we didn't just finish the tender fish chunks, we ate every last piece of cabbage soaked in that incredible chili broth. For my two daughters who can't handle the heat, we ordered the fried rice, garlic pork ribs with onion, and the 紅燒獅子頭 (Giant Meatball with Cabbage). The giant meatball was spectacular. The kids completely devoured it on their own, but I managed to steal a bite, and it instantly brought back childhood memories of exactly how this dish is supposed to taste. We also had the Dan Dan Noodles, which were great and rounded out the meal perfectly. I loved all of the dishes we tried. Should we ever find ourselves in Houston again, we will absolutely be revisiting this hidden gem.

Sushi is excellent here. I especially like the FatBoy roll and the Texas roll. My wife enjoys the…read moretempura shrimp rolls. I am not familiar with restaurant ramen so I was a little unsure. The broth was delicious and the homemade hot sauce came on the side had a wonderful taste (and blistering heat - a little goes a long way. The thin sliced meat was not to my taste, but that is purely personal preference - I could tell it was a good product, just not my thing. I thought the noodles had a firmer, more al dente texture that was new to me, but I expect that was my lack of prior experience. The "Japanese BBQ" was an experience. It took a bit to get the hang of it. The food was all very fresh and beautifully served, and the dipping sauces were tasty. In hindsight, I would probably have enjoyed the all you can eat sushi more, but I am happy I tried it. The restaurant has a laid back feel. Simple decor of umbrellas and lanterns. There is no sense of being rushed. My only suggestion would be to have some tables without the gas hibachi setup as that limits leg room (playing footsie is right out). I've returned twice. I highly recommend it.

While there's nothing extraordinary about the kind of business Taro specializes in (#1), the…read morelocation alone is worth noting. Situated directly across the street from NRG Stadium along Kirby, it's ideally placed to capture the slice of tourists and locals. Considering the wide selection of Japanese-inspired fare, the potential is there -- but unfortunately, the food is both overpriced and mediocre, much like their predecessor (#2). Things I appreciated: * Interior: I am fairly confident that one could show up with 20 people from a football game across the street and find a seat. There's enough seating in here to house an army and they've done a good job with the ambiance to keep the appearance of a faux-premium vibe. * Service: While they were generally slow on a few things, most of the staff members I've encountered were super pleasant and very transparent about what / what not to order. I appreciated this immensely. * Yakitori: No exaggeration, this is one of the better AYCE yakitori experiences I've had. The chicken and beef yakitori combos (#3) had great presentation, were juicy, and full of flavor. This was the only item where I wanted multiple orders. Things that are not great: * The price: This. My first time coming here it was $31 (Or ... $30.99), but the last time was $50. With that kind of a steep hike, you'd think they'd offer uni, toro, and some kind of premium yakitori, but too hard to justify considering their lineup of food and drink. * The name: Previously, it was simply "Taro Japanese Restaurant." As of earlier this year, it has become "Taro VIP BBQ SEAFOOD HOTPOT & BAR." * The drinks: I'm stoked they have an alcohol license and can serve wine, beer, and cocktails. But the cocktails are on another level bad. The Mexican Mule ($14.50) was too tinge too sour, the Taro Red ($14.50), Blue Hawaii ($13.50) and Tokyo Rose ($13.50) are way too sweet. Even the powdered milk teas and fruit teas felt very generic. * The sushi: I can handle low quality sushi, but there was some level of funk for almost all the salmon, tuna, and yellowtail that I ordered. It was masked a bit better in the rolls, but at some point, I couldn't order anymore. * The ramen: While I think offering any kind of ramen is a plus in the AYCE scenario, the ramen here is understandably mid. All of the tonkotsu choices are the best bet, but this is a hard pass for even folks that love noodle soup. * The spelling: While I'm typically forgiving of most menu mishaps, the fact one is being charged $50 and they can't seem to spell shoyu, fried, tartare, etc. correctly is kind of mind blowing. * Most of their baked sushi items: This includes their tataki, baby octopus, mussels, ankimo, and tartare. This is likely due to the seafood quality issue that I had alluded to earlier. * The crawfish: Skip. Don't bother ordering, even if it's peak crawifsh season since it tastes like something more from a Chinese buffet than anything resembling the kinds of crawdads from Louisiana. For a place that boasts being run by culinary graduates trained under a famous Japanese chef (#5), it's incredibly disappointing to such such variety paired with such flawed execution. One could argue Taro is more style than substance, but I hope they find a way to correct their course. ____________ (#1) All you can eat Japanese restaurant where everyone speaks Mandarin. (#2) Akashi: https://www.yelp.com/biz/akashi-houston-7 (#3) Calling all carnivores: This is your moment. (#4) "Shyoyu" "Fired" "Tartar" (#5) Takeshi Kaneko? Okay then.
