So sleepy's is always good when you are ready for a good poboy. They are open late and during the day time the service is super quick. When you go after hours it will be a bit of a wait but where else can you get a poboy at 1am. The place is always clean and has everything you need. The reason it's only four stars is because lately it seems like it's been lacking seasoning and I'm eating more bread than the protein.

First timer here! Hmmm ok so I had the fried shrimp platter with Marconi and cheese, toast and a 20oz fruit punch kool aid. The shrimp was seasoned very well and fried hard how I like them. But the Marconi and cheese was off to me. It tasted sweet and I didn't like it at all. Best toast I had in a well and it wasn't that Texas toast bread. Just regular thinly sliced buttered and toasted bread. That kool aid was good too

It was my first time there and it was packed. The staff was friendly it it took a bit for us to get our food. I take that to be because it was packed and on a Friday. The food was hot and good tho. Overall, I will def go back.

Very pleasant staff clean restaurant. The fried fish and chicken reminded me of my mom's it was very comforting and delicious seasoned excellently and fried very crispy while still being very juicy. That's the way you do chicken and fish! The potato salad was also very tasty as well as the macaroni and cheese was creamy and tasted of grilled cheese flavors the noodles are very large elbow noodles so lots of cheese can get in between them it was very good I enjoyed this whole dinner and can't wait to have more

I tried Sleepy's on a whim the other day when I was craving a good sandwich, and I have absolutely no regrets! I got the fried shrimp po boy and potato salad and it was all *chef's kiss.* The po boy came out with a good amount of shrimp and was a big enough size to share. The potato salad has a little bit of a mustard taste to it, but I'd recommend giving it a try even if you don't normally love mustard as it was pretty tasty! It was creamy and had just the right amount of potato chunks and tang. Parking was easy to find as the restaurant is located in a big plaza. If you go later in the evening, you might have to wait a while for your food as everything appears to be fried fresh, so call ahead if you want to speed things up.

Service was great Young man did his job Interior -great Food - well I'm a native of NOLA and took a chance on the oyster poboy. Combo was 21.22 with tax Room for improvement - I doubt there was 8 oysters on the sandwich - they were crunchy fried. Lots of bread . Fries where good I'm generous so 4 stars but not like a NOLA oyster poboy

In 2013, I wrote a 3 star review here for 2 dinner visits. Recently, I have returned twice again since I was in the area for an update. First of all, I was impressed when walking inside as the interior is much improved from 2013. Back then, it was a real hole in the wall restaurant really only suitable for to go orders. Now, they have real tables and booths along with interior decorations that make a dine in experience much more enjoyable. Good job! Sleepy's is still a counter service restaurant but the counter has been upgraded too. I ordered a shrimp po boy and made it a combo with fries and a drink for around $13 with tax. The food came out in about 10 minutes in a styrofoam container. The po boy was split in two sections and was dressed. It had plenty of fried shrimp and I really enjoyed it. The remoulade/Mayo sauce they use is smooth tasting and added to the sandwich. The fries were the standard frozen out of a bag kind but they were hot and seasoned. I gave this meal a 4. About a week later I returned to try a large seafood gumbo for $11.25. Again this meal was ready in about 10 minutes and came out in a large and tall styrofoam container. This meal was a problem. First of all the container was fine if you take it home to transfer it to another bowl but for eating it in the restaurant it was very awkward. The container is too tall and with the small plastic spoon given difficult to spoon it out. Second, this "seafood" gumbo contains far more beef and sausage than seafood. Mine had some crab pieces and a few small shrimp with the roux and rice along with the red meat. This disappointed me and besides that the flavor was just average. Considering all of these factors I gave this meal a 2 and wouldn't order it again even if I was talking it home. Put it in a better container for those dining in and add more seafood Sleepy! For these two visits I still rate this place as a 3 and would return for that shrimp po boy just like last time. At least the interior is much improved.

Small place in shopping center but it's good is cooked to order. Very clean place and staff gets your order to the detail. Ask for any sauce you would like to go with whatever you'd like. Excellent poboy bread warm inside crunch outside, great fixings

It's very difficult to park close to the restaurant at night bc of the night club. The parking lot attendant is very rude and curse two other ladies as the walked into Sleepy's (this is because there were not allowed to park at Sleepy's ,everyone was forced to park at Slim Chicken's next door) I understand controlling the club flow but it's to the detriment of this business. The food is good but I'm not sure if it worth the hassle. Also my toast was black by comparison to my husband. Now this might be splitting hair but, when it's such a hassle to get to the business it can make one become very critical.

I am the worst when trying to decide what to eat. We are in town visiting and before turning in for the night we decided some good food was what we needed. This place did not disappoint!!!!! I had to stop eating to snap a pic, LOL. The staff was so welcoming and nice, the feel of the restaurant was so comfy. We will definitely be returning on our next visit.

Sleepy's was ok I'm giving a strong 3 stars only because I've had shrimps and oysters way bigger than what was on my poboy. The oysters was so small you can barely tell it was oysters at all. I had so much lettuce on the poboy I thought it was a lettuce sandwich. The French fries was good though I will give them another try.

It felt more like we were an inconvenience than guests. Good service can completely elevate a place, but unfortunately this experience did the opposite. I'd still come back for the food because the kitchen clearly knows what they're doing, but I really hope the service improves because it did not match the quality of the food at all.

I don't eat meat, but I NEEDED a grilled cheese and an order of onion rings just sounded like the right thing to do, so I did it. My oh my! What I got was the largest grilled cheese sandwich I've ever seen on what I think was brioche bread? It was very much the texture of a croissant and whoa....so tasty! The onion rings were very nice with thick sliced onions so the ratio of onion to batter was perfect. JLB obviously takes changing out the oil in their fryers seriously (as many places don't) because they were fresh and didn't taste like anything that had been deep-fried in the oil previously. This is a real issue for me. I don't want tortilla chips that smell and taste rancid, nor do I want churros that taste like tortilla chips that have been previously fried in the same rancid oil. I have an extremely sensitive olfactory sense, but it lends itself nicely to eating out at establishments that take the care and concern for cleanliness and their patrons. Speaking of cleanliness, JLB is spotless, although to the point the cleaning products smell overwhelm the entire small establishment. I immediately knew when I walked in that I couldn't eat there, but I'm sure glad I ordered to-go! My order was prepped and ready swiftly and too big to eat for just one person so I shared with my neighbor who is recovering from an injury. When walking in it wasn't crowded but there were a fair amount of guests for a near 10 pm crowd on a Wednesday. I went and sat at the bar to which I was immediately greeted and provided menus. Food & Drink - 5* I immediately ordered some wings and fried pickles and peppers. Then I debated between the Irish Stew or the Shepherd's Pie. When I inquired, both are great but advised I should go with the Shepherd's Pie. Off to races we go. Fried pickles and peppers, delicious, the batter isn't over the top yet doesn't fall off terribly. The cilantro jalapeño sauce is a fantastic pairing. The wings -- great, nice crisp, flavor was not necessarily what I expected, I couldn't place it at the time it they were good. Now, the shepherd's pie, wow, this dish was addicting. I'd come back over and over for this while sabotaging in semblance of a balanced diet. Just makes me know that the Irish stew is likely equally fantastic. The drinks, well, I can't speak to cocktails but the Guinness was delicious, cold, with nice collar/head. Can't go wrong with that! Service - 5* Everything one would want. Friend, fast, and attentive. Water was always full and was asked if needed anything multiple times. The only thing I didn't get proactively was napkins, but when I asked, I was provided some quickly. Cost - 4.5* Overall, I think, subjectively speaking, everything here is pretty well priced. The shepherd's pie may be a tad overpriced but it's worth it in how delicious it is. Overall - 5* This was a pleasant surprise to visit and I will certainly come back. Subjectively the location is good and bad. Being next to the improv and movie theater I'm sure helps attract many patrons for these businesses. At the same time, this joint, with a loyal following, would sustain business and "feel" better as a free standing establishment in a more neighborhood type environment. Nevertheless, great place, would recommend people stop in even if they aren't visiting the stalwart attractions in the area.

App to find a new place to eat with no real feelings toward any particular place. Landed on Calliope's page and read the reviews. Looked good to me so I headed there. Restaurant is on the end cap of a strip plaza. Has a drive-thru as well (pleasantly surprised to see that on my way out). Parking is ample as most businesses were not open on a Saturday after 4p. Parked right in front. Dining room has about 6 tables for up to 4 people each, as well as two Hi-Top tables with seating for two each. Counter has 40" TV screens with the entire menu on them right above the cashier station. Menu cycles through pics of a few food offerings as well. Came because of the review suggestion of the Boudin egg rolls and the Suicide Shrimp Boiling Pot. Ordered both from the nice cashier who explained the entire menu, best sellers and offered modifications to the rice as well. After I paid for the order, was given a disc pager and took a seat. Dining room was clean and well lit. Waited about 15 minutes and the cashier motioned to me that my order was ready. She explained that the boiling pot sauce was placed on the side so the shrimp wouldn't be soggy and explained the other sauces that were included in my order, which were the boudin remoulade and the boiling pot garlic butter. I paid about $28 for the appetizer and main entree. They offer sliced cake, bottled flavored punches and Coke product fountain drinks, as well. It took me about 30 min to make it home and the food was still hot. The shrimp are small to medium in size; the fried rice comes with scrambled eggs, carrots, peas and onions (which I had removed). Boiling pot comes with one potato and a mini ear of corn with a boiled egg. Think: shrimp boil deconstructed. The sauce was mild flavor {offerings are Regular (no spice), Mild (medium spice) and Extra (chili sauce based spice)}. The sauce on the rice and shrimp were flavorful but I found even the mild to be too spicy for my taste (have acid reflux, so I actively avoid spicy foods). The rice was good (I added extra scrambled eggs, additional fee) and the plate is more than enough for two people. The egg rolls have cream cheese inside. Though not my taste, my roommate enjoyed it with the remoulade it comes with. Overall, between the cleanliness of the location, the service of the staff, the portion size, and value for money, I will be back to sample other items from the menu.
