I worked at a Mastros steak house in California so my expectations were high. Miles gave us the best service, true southern hospitality and charm. We got the fried jalapeño shrimp. TREMENDOUS! Subpar Unsatisfactory Incredibly unsatisfied. Which really is incomparable to ALL the other SaltGrass Steakhouses I've been to. This was a GrubHub order. For starters, our drinks were not delivered, but we were charged for them. The most expensive part of the $167 order, the Filet, was not even close to Medium Well. Says it right there on the ticket. Even still ... the worst was yet to come. People make mistakes. That's understandable. What's not a mistake, is calling THREE times, to speak to a manager and being "accidentally" hung up on twice, then on hold for the 3rd time for 20 minutes!!! That's not a mistake. That's intentional at worst, incompetence at best! If this SaltGrass wasn't surrounded by 2.4 Million people, it wouldn't last a quarter. Ridiculous establishment. read more

We went to eat there on Feb 22 and a sauce from the table next to us somehow was spilled all over my sister's authentic Louis Vitton purse and my limited edition white canvas Hello Kitty Kate Spade purse. These total to approx $3,000. The manager, Topher, took pictures and assured us corporate would take care of it. That they would be reaching out to us. Well it is April 18 and we have called and called and finally, a lady named Pauline called us about a week ago and said she would call us back the next day. Pauline is not professional. As a representative of Tillman Fertitta and Landry's restaurants, she should keep to her word. I have been calling and leaving messages, with no luck or avail. They have insurance. Last time my NY strip steak was very grisly but this time all our food from appetizers to entree was very salty. This is the second time that my family and I have eaten at this restaurant during HRW and I have to say that I am completely convinced it will not be the last time. The interior is spacious and rustic, with enough room to feel comfortable, even when the restaurant is crowded. Our waitress was the nicest person and was extremely attentive and personable. The dinner menu continues to shock me with the quantity and quality of food provided. The range rattlers were tasty with a kick, while the potato soup was rich and comforting. The blackened redfish was light and flaky, while the chocolate cake was one of the best I had ever eaten, and paired perfectly with the vanilla ice cream. They have a good and courteous manager at this location (Meyerland). The person who seated us was pleasant and attentive.Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing due to the waitress's body language (she is African Americans, I believe her name was Amorie (or similar sound) and the table cleaning process by cleaning crews. The waitress seemed overwhelmed and rushed and appeared to not happy when customer asked for correction on the points or using reward to pay. She responded you corrected yourself, i have other table to attend and rushed away. I went a head and tipped this person full amount of the charge but we have never seen such an attitude with Landry's network after being member for over 15 years. The person cleaning the table sprayed the chemical too harshly, causing the strong cleaning smell to spread throughout the nearby area. We were concerned because customers, including us, ended up breathing in the chemical fumes, and the contaminated air likely drifted into our drinks. When we left, we found out a wheel-chaired person who might not go to the restroom on time and accidentally left her wastes outside the restaurant right after you opened the front door. She stationed right on the left obstructing customer coming and go out on the left side. My heart sank...This was a terrible experience from waitress, cleaning staff and guest who stationed outside and started to release it right there. I will not return to this location mainly for the waitress. The cleaning staff and the customer who released wastes is forgivable. If it's not because of the manager and the leading staff, I would have given zero star to this location. Goodbye and will not return! read more

This place is always more misses than hits. The location is the only thing that works for this particular restaurant. Other locations are by far better. Place has been pretty good for the last 20 years. Lately, it's gone down hill. One guy working the bar which was full, and also working the banquet room at lunch today. We are big LCS fans but have been disappointed in this Salt Grass lately. To top it off, there was a roach in my wife's salad today. No apology from the bartender or a manager today at lunch(11/12/21). Update. On 1:45pm, on 08/29/2025, we had an unbelievably bad experience. Little do they know, my wife is a former Saltgrass trainer. At this location, the attitude is unreal. From the hostess to our server. As a couple that's traveled Europe, Asia, the east coast, west coast, and Chicago for food, I was floored at the attitude at every turn. On top of that, nothing came out the correct temperature, but we didn't send anything back as we were ready to get up and get out of there. Our waitress came over and asked us if our food came out ok, when the runner came sat our plates. We were still on our salads. And there was a condensing attitude behind it. As someone that has ate at Saltgrass for 34 years and been and LSC for probably 20 years, this was shocking. We are pretty easy to please, always smile and say "thank you" "please" and "have a great day", we got nothing. Pure attitude and disdain for us being there. Listen, this location has been here forever, so he must be doing something right. It's always crowded and the food is mediocre for a Houston. I mean if you want a baked potato and a steak while at a not so fancy atmosphere, I guess this is your spot. Very family friendly and can be very loud if you hit it at peak hours. I have found that the service has gone downhill over the decades. When I was younger, this was a great pick, but I rarely eat here anymore. The food and staff are mediocre (as i previously mentioned). Food: Soups, salads (a bit over priced), burgers, ribs, steaks. You're bound to find something here. For me - it's not terrible - it's decent food - but just not my first pick. They are a part of the Laundry's group if that's important to you. read more

My husband and I were here around 11:15am on a Thursday. Although they hadn't been open long, it was starting to get crowded. We were seated almost right away. Courtney was our server, and she was nice and attentive. I ordered the grilled check with the truffle oil and parm fries and baked potato soup. My husband had a patty melt with fries. He did it really like the sauce or whatever they cook the onions with, but he liked the fries. My grilled chicken was really good as was the baked potato soup. The parm and truffle fries were the real winners though. They were super tasty!!! Restaurant was very clean and everyone acted professional. No one at the counter, phone ringing and ringing. Two customers seated waiting. They had already placed their order. The pickup table was full of packaged orders. Finally young lady returned. She took our order. She had no help. After awhile 3 people came not to help but to close her out. One was her relief. She was nice and offered us water. I expect to be ordering again to go, but someone has to answer the phone or have the line go to management or something. My steak was too red for medium well. My potatoe was over done to be a baked potato. I used my $25 birthday bonus to pay, but I'm disappointed that there was no assistance to take orders/. Me and my executive board were looking for a great place to celebrate our end of year service with a good meal (preferably Steak). This was my first time dining at Saltgrass Steakhouse. We selected the Katy Freeway location since it was closest to the conference hotel. Our waitstaff was very hospitable, fast and friendly. Saltgrass features that Cowboy decor with a Texas authenticity and that's always nice. I enjoyed reading about the reason behind the "Saltgrass" name on the menu - I learned a thing or two. The food!!! The cook on the steak was flavorful, juicy, and delicious, the ribs were fall of the bone good, it's like it melted in my mouth, so tender. Our group ordered the sampler which also gives you a little of everything including fried onion slivers, jalepeno poppers, chips and queso, etc. The crab cake order was just enough and the cakes were a great size - tasty with a little bit of kick to it. Yum!! I ordered their special drink being offerd ( grilled pineapple cocktail) which was ok, not as sweet as I imagined it would be. Only one of us opted for the traditional turkey with all the trimmings and she enjoyed it. My son and I went for steaks, both cooked medium, he went for the top sirloin and I chose a ribeye, with sides of green beans, he went with a caesar salad and i got a regular salad with blue cheese dressing. The restaurant was pretty busy for a Thursday night. We were a group of 6 and were seated fairly quickly. Our waiter was very attentive and was able to take all of our drink orders correctly. That's where the fun stopped. The salads took a long while to come out, it took so long that the main entrees started to arrive before everyone had their salad. One of the steaks was way undercooked and mine was overcooked. I always order mine medium rare and I hate it well done. I don't know where the problem is, but this seems to be a common problem. We had two birthday ladies, and I was expecting some free dessert, but no, Saltgrass doesn't do that. :-( I don't think anyone that works there really cares. When my salad was shoved aside for the main course, she (the runner) didn't care. Bottom line: If you want a steak, don't go here. There are plenty of really good places in Houston. read more
