Had to take a star away because this location no longer serves gumbo....I don't know about the other locations. The fried shrimp dinners are still 5 stars. Wifey got fries wit' hers and I got fried onion rings wit' mine. 10 large shrimp each....fried to perfection for a reasonable price....I like it! We're lightweights when it comes to drinks so we enjoyed sharing a Karbach Love Street beer that i poured into a couple chilled glasses...what's not to like about that?! Great service. Honestly wasn't expecting such a cute little spot on the southwest side of houston but it beats other seafood spot prices. Although they may take forever and a day to show up to the table and take your order, they do know how to give you a traditional flavored seafood boil. Honestly everything you would want and for my first time I was impressed with everything we ordered. We started with a side car and watermelon Long Island. Both of which were strong AF. We also ordered Steam Oyster which is basically a cooked oyster smothered in seafood boil sauce. We also got onion rings, A. Snow Crab & Headless Shrimp with sausage which comes sliced up and the seafood combo already comes with potatoes and corn but you can add more for a few of course. Overall the prices and flavor is everything you want in a straightforward seafood boil spot. Everything about tone was short and dismissive when it came to satisfying my needs. She proceeded to tell me that TABC laws permits the exchange of drinks. Who is TABC certified I can assure you that is not the case. Nevertheless, I proceeded to order another drink in hopes to have liked that one. It was to my dissatisfaction that that drink was also disgusting regardless, I paid for both drinks without a problem because money was never the issue, but I will not be eating at that establishment if that manager is on duty or the bartender. After we entered the building, it was lower and there wasn't as many people as we expected with the full lot. Ambiance was great. Our server was Yasmin and she was so sweet. To eat, despite wanting 1/2 pound of shrimp, I order the pound of headless shrimp because that's the smallest portion they have. It was inconvenient. I will tell you that the Seafood is really good here. I'm a Seafood Snob, so I critique everything. They have a jukebox that you can play music. The two times that I've been there, they are always jamming. The customer service was on point once again! I ordered the headless Shrimp Medium Boom Spice and it was just right. The flavors and the taste was banging. My bf ordered the steamed Oysters mild boom and the Scallops mild boom. The Oysters were pretty good and the scallops were cooked just right. You can easily over cook scallops and they are ruined at that point. We ordered a few drinks and that starburst shot was hitting. It was a great night and great dinner. The place is pretty popular. My daughter frequents there and so does one of my long time friends. I have to get over here more often. I'VE FINALLY FOUND MY NEW GO TO SPOT FOR CRAWFISH. Boom sauce was amazing. A lot of great flavor. Everybody around the table loved it. Fried catfish platter was perfectly fried. Fish was not dry or anything. Only reason I've taken off a couple stars is we ordered fried calamari and steamed oysters which are APPETIZERS. Which means they should come out BEFORE our main entrees. We waited about 40 minutes and got everything all at once. That made it very frustrating because we had no update from our waitress regarding the wait for our appetizers. The oysters and fried calamari came out room temp and not hot at all like they were sitting waiting for the main entrees. About 1/3 of our order of calamari was all stuck together in a clump. Just left this restaurant, drove by for several years and never stopped. My church group had a luncheon planned and I'm glad they did. We have been here twice and both times the food was delicious. Don't be fooled by the tired strip mall, the interior is really nice and upscale. They have hanging sea creatures, plush booths and big screen tvs. The first time we went was near the grand opening. We ordered he seafood boil special (not available anymore) which gave us a mix of shrimp, clams, mussels and potatoes and corn. The boom sauce is pretty spicy, but everything was fresh. The second time we came, was with my 3 kids and my in-laws. The fried oysters, fish and chicken tenders were so hot and crispy. Food did take a while to get to us, but the waitress was so nice and brought us 2 free bowls of gumbo. I loved my 1 lb of mussels and clams which was way too much for me to eat. I was visiting from LA and couldn't eat at a restaurant on my to-do list and found this on Yelp. A local also recommended it to us. Came around lunchtime, and there was only one other customer seated, so we were a little skeptical, but then we saw several To Go orders on the counter , so let us know people do eat here, lol. The boom sauce was a tad bit too salty for my taste buds, but I believe that's how they like it in the south. Nevertheless, the food was good...nice and garlicky like I like it. Also ordered a lemon drop from their Happy Hour specials menu. My bill was $46 (not including the 20% tip). The service was good. Obviously, we were seated right away, and our server was attentive. We only had to wait a while for our food, which is a good thing because it was probably made to order. Did have a bit of a wait when I asked for a crab cracker. They provided gloves however they were buried under my bag of food, so I didn't notice them until I was done eating, but they come in a cute c@ndom style package (great marketing).
