We opted to try this place again after a couple of years since the restaurant we were interested in next door was packed out the door. The ambiance is casual with colors that create a gentle warmth around the place. Service is strictly at the counter and food comes out at an expected rate (not too slow, not too fast). We opted for a family platter (can comfortably feed about 3 hungry people) and the nice folks there allowed us to blacken half of our order for $1.50 instead of $3 for all 4 filets. I would definitely recommend the blacked tenders over the fried. The spices and slice of lime pairs nicely. The rice definitely needs work as it's very mild in flavor, as is the garlic bread as well. A family pack gets you 6 slices, though! Woah. The choices for sides is limited and nothing really gave me an impression. But the combos are pretty affordable; you're looking at paying $9 a person with tax included. I can see myself coming back for some blackened catfish if I'm in the mood. Service was good. I ordered the gumbo, catfish/shrimp, and catfish/tenders. The gumbo starts off at $10 and some change but in order to have any shrimp, chicken, and/or sausage you have to pay $.40 extra for each. I'm guessing if you don't pay they just scoop them out. So first of all I wanna say thier food is decent, not exactly worth the price but it is decent. That bread is tough as nails, they need to do better. My husband ordered that po boy, never again. That crap had our jaws hurting. It's a huge portion but that bread was awful, ultra chewy mess. My sister in law wanted fish and fries, the texture of her fish was off. They use Swai instead of real catfish, figures... the best thing I order was for my neice, she wanted like a huge seafood boil but with sausage so I did get her that and she loved it, everybody wanted some of her food. It was suppose to be spicy garlic butter flavored, wasn't really spicy and they must cook everything separate and slap sauce on it because I tasted a piece of potato not in the juices- bland. For $60 you can make your own and then some. Customer service was cool. The guy was nice, attentive. Skimpy on condiments, we received 2 things of tartar sauce for 3 plates/ platters. I got the ez peel shrimp and my boyfriend got fish and shrimp with dirty rice. He said his food was ok but dry. My shrimp weren't bad. I honestly think 7spice is good for their boiled seafood. HORRIBLE FOOD AND HORRIBLE SERVICE. Boiled shrimp was WAY OVERCOOKED that is was literally mush. Called the order in and the person on the phone mentioned about a 20 minute wait. Went there about 25 minutes after the call, and still waited an additional 20 minutes for my food. How long does it take to boil shrimp, unless they are serving frozen slop that needed to be thawed out, hence the OVERCOOKED MUSH. NOT GOING BACK THERE AGAIN. read more

I really used to love this place. But this place has gone down the drain for me. This establishment lacks in two ways, one the cook & cashier can never seem to get an order right and two the quantity of meat on the po-boy decreases each time I go. I've came once with my mother and her friend. My mother's friend specifically asked for a certain meal and was given something completely different. When she confronted the cashier about it. He denied it ever happened, he even showed her the receipt as she was lying. Another time I came with my mother and the same exact thing happened. Just yesterday I decided try a different po-boy. I ordered the chicken po-boy in hopes it would be just like catfish po-boy (a long large piece of catfish). Wrong! From the looks, of it it look like there was no meat on it. I actually had to open up the sandwich to only locate two miniature, tiny, peewee sized chicken strips. As if the cooks served me end pieces of scraped chicken. You know the parts you cut off when you prepare chicken.. I was very disappointed! The taste was all the way off. It tasted like a bread, tomato, and lettuce po-boy. If this what 7 Spice calls a po-boy they need to go back to drawing board! The chicken and shrimp po-boy is the same way. They both are absent in appearance and taste. For $5.99, I should have at least seen meat from my naked eye. I also ordered original fries not spicy. What was I given.. spicy cajun fries. Another setback for this place I once loved. It would be good if the cashier could show the customers their food before handing out. Just like Pizza Hut does for their customers. It would also be good if the 7 Spice could label their condiments. The hot sauce has no label. In the future, I will be looking for another cajun food place to go for po-boys. So let me start off by saying I was originally going to give this place 4 stars but because as i was finishing up the manager/co-owner greeted me and asked me how I liked the food. I told him straight up what I thought and he genuinely was interested and wanted to keep improving to please his customers. That explains my 5 star rating. Now on to the FOOD! Definitely above average for what you're paying. I ordered the lunch portion of blackened fish with dirty rice and etouffee sauce on top. In addition, I also ordered a side of boudain balls. Everything tasted great with my only complaint being the dirty rice not as seasoned as I personally like. Portions were large and a good value. Moving on, I spoke with Vince (the manager/co-owner) and he told me everything was made in house and their chicken tenders are breaded to order. As a big fan of chicken tenders I told him I'd have to try them sometime well 3 minutes later he brought some out for me to sample. Let's just say I would go back just for the tenders. Juicy and lightly breaded with just enough kick. I'm sold on this place as a great place to have a quick and delicious Cajun fix. read more
