Hands down, delicious tasting gelato with a bunch of different flavors that were unique. The waffle was also really yummy too. I would give this place five stars but the service was just okay. I asked for some spoons and he grabbed three for me to take. I assumed he was giving me three to take but when I reached to take them all, he looked disgusted like I was taking too many and then only offered me one. I thought this was all very strange because my hands had touched the other two spoons and he took them and put them back in the container. I thought that was really weird and gross. If he was going to offer me one, then take one. Anyways, aside from this really off-putting interaction, great gelato shop! read more

Great service and great gelato! It was my first time there so I wasn't sure what to expect. They have flavors that change weekly and flavors that are considered their staples so I definitely recommend checking out their Instagram if you're wanting to see what they have for that week! For the price, I'd say it was the anticipated price I was expecting for gelato in Hawaii; the great thing is you can choose multiple flavors if you like! They offer 2 free samples of any flavor. They have outdoor seating that you can sit at since there is no seating inside the actual store. They also offer water and drinks to purchase. Would definitely go back! I was actually debating on getting a pint of the Oreo mascarpone gelato since that was my favorite! I'll have to go back for that. read more

Last night in Hawaii, had a nice dinner then found 7Gradi for dessert. Gelato was really good! I had the peach mango and strawberry cheesecake, my wife had the ube and hazelnut. You couldn't go wrong with any of the flavors, everything was delicious. We also got the original waffle, which was perfect with the gelato. Will be back the next time I'm in Oahu! read more

This has got to be one of the softest gelato I've ever had! I'm not typically a huge sweets person (I'm a salty gal) so when people ask me if I want to get dessert, I'm like meeeeeeh but since we were in the area, might as well try something new for me! I love how you can see the gelato churning right in front of you; something about that concept makes it entertaining. They have a variety of flavors and even have seasonal ones but hands down for me, I love their Rice flavor -- weird right??? But don't knock it until you try it! Thankfully you're allowed to sample and the Rice flavor tasted like a milder version of white rabbit candy (with little pieces of rice) perfect amount of sweetness for me. They also have a "combo" where you can get a single (two flavors) + your choice of waffle and I highly recommend getting the waffle! It tastes like a hybrid of a croissant and waffle and it's so addicting!! I'd truly would just come back for that waffle read more

My friend took me here one afternoon for dessert. It was an amazing experience. I ordered the lemon lilikoi, guava yogurt and li hing mui pineapple - a tropical fruit assortment. I've never tasted gelato as flavorful as that! Although I had tropical flavors, the experience of eating 7Gradi's gelato brought back memories of my trip to Italy 20 years ago. Awesome gelato! And waffles! We were looking for a place that had waffles and ice cream after a hot day at the park. We looked up waffles near us and 7GRADI GELATO popped up! We've been to SALT several times but didn't notice this cute gelato shop tucked underneath the stairs that lead to Butcher and Bird. There was no line when we walked in. Atmosphere was light and welcoming. We were greeted and asked if we wanted to sample any flavors. My kids tried the Toasted Marshmallow. They made up their minds what flavor they were getting after that sample. We also sampled the "RISO" flavor, which reminded me of Horchata. It had a subtle vanilla taste but not too overpowering where it tasted like an ordinary vanilla ice cream. read more

Wow this place has the fluffiest gelato and the best flavors. Also the girl that helped us was super nice and let us try a lot of flavors. We got two single cups for a total of four flavors. Here's the verdict for each: Coffee - creamy, not over powering. It has the right amount of depth of the coffee flavor. Wish there was a little bit more crunch. 4/5 stars Black sesame - my wife's review is "it's really good" 5/5 stars. My review is "hot damn this is the best sesame flavored gelato/ice cream I've ever had. It has a lingering taste that reminds me of chocolate vanilla. It compliments the sesame treats upfront " 5/5 stars Tangerine - tastes like a dreamcicle. Little bit more sweet and less tangy. I was hoping for a bit more of the orange tang but still pretty good. 4/5 stars Peach mango - super refreshing taste and it even has little chunks in them. 5/5 stars read more

Dear owner, we were visiting from San Francisco and enjoyed your gelato on Sunday night. Your employee working that night was kind enough to split a single scoop in 2 paper cups for our 5-year old twins. We returned tonight and asked for the same. (We bought ice cream for a group of 6). The two employees working tonight told us they can't split a scoop "because the owner told them so". They put the half scoop in a big brown tray for one of my sons which basically was impossible to scoop it out from. You basically lost a future customer on a 5 cent paper cup. We would have been happy to pay an extra dollar even for a separate cup. Needless to say, we are not returning. read more

New gelato in SALT! It's a cute place unlike any other gelato place I've been to. The gelato are in round containers spinning. You can pick 2 flavors for a single scoop. I tried ube and matcha. The ube was good but on the sweeter side for me. The matcha was very good. The only problem is how fast it melts. Feels like it's already dripping as soon as it's handed to me. I would go back and try some of the other flavors read more

Green grape sorbet. I'm a complete sucker for anything green grape or kiwi flavored, so when I saw that the first flavor of sorbet in the display case was green grape, I was sold. I didn't bother with getting a cup. I just bought a pint. I think I need to go back this week before the flavors switch out. Loved this place! Came here after dinner and it was a great dessert place. They had lots of different flavors - I think my favorite was the matcha combined with the ube. I chose Pretty typical flavors but the blend of the two was super Ono and refreshing - just what I needed! The line is a tad bit slow but we weren't in a rush so it was no big deal. I saw that they also had a toasted marshmallow flavor, so we will have to try that next time. read more

So good we ate this before dinner AND after (I was worried it would be closed...). I love that they rotate the flavors so you always something new to try. Our favorites so far have been billberry cheesecake (a European blueberry), honey yogurt, and cherry. My favorite part about 7Gradi's gelato would have to be that the yogurt base for the honey yogurt (and a few others that are more mild in flavor) have the PERFECT tanginess that yogurt should have. I know they're a gelato place (and not fro-yo), but still, this is my favorite part. None of the flavors have been overly sweet and each one we've tried is true to their flavor description!! Another plus is that they're open pretty late for a dessert spot, which is pretty hard to find, actually. And their gelato is super crave-able! I've already converted my sister, husband, and niece. Parking is also relatively easy. Salt has their own parking deck AND an uncovered lot on Moku Kitchen/Starbucks side. The open lot is smaller and has limited spots, but we haven't had a problem parking yet. Oh, and 7Gradi validates parking, but if you're just swinging by for a sweet treat, then you probably won't even need validation, as the first hour is free anyway. There are still many flavors I want to try, so I can't wait to be back. Prices are reasonable and they let you sample the flavors. Thank you, 7Gradi for being a reliable, go-to dessert spot when we're craving a cold treat. read more

The Gelato was so good during the hot day. They offered 2 flavors in a cup for $5 which is such a great price for the quality of the products that they use to make the flavors. As soon as I heard that there was a new gelato place in SALT, I immediately had to try it. They had a lot of interesting flavors I had never seen before (tangerine, riso, oreo nutella to name a few), but I ended up deciding on the coffee and roasted marshmallow flavors. I was immediately impressed by the texture of the gelato, which was creamy and soft. Their gelatos are displayed in containers that spin every so often (I'm assuming to keep the texture), so some flavors may be unavailable if they're currently spinning. There are two size options, a small (two flavors) and a medium (three flavors). You definitely get a good amount of gelato for what you're paying. The flavors are a little sweet for my taste, but given the unique options and the fact that they're open a little later than a lot of other nearby dessert places (they close at 10pm on weekends), I'll definitely come again! read more

Felt kind of rushed when ordering my gelato during one of their night market summer events at SALT. Was not quite sure about what exactly was happening and I was caught off guard when told that I had to pay for the waffle topping when I originally thought it was free because no one told me beforehand. There were a series of promotions and, when our group was discussing a dinner spot on Saturday evening in early February, I suggested picking a restaurant there. Before walking the aisles, my friend and I went to the information desk and asked whether that Saturday's promotion offer was still available. The lady confirmed that there were redemption coupons still available so we planned accordingly. After dining at the noodle restaurant in the back, we explained the promotion to our fellow diners and paid for our meals so that all interested guests would be able to enjoy this perk. For spending $20 on a meal, we were given a coupon to get a free cup of sorbet here. Being right next to the information desk, this store is to the far left, near the exit doors and stairs. In redeeming our coupons, we patiently waited as the young lady scooped our cup of sorbet. mango sorbet (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=ctKL8zyt4Jhz0wy6NXfJEA&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q). As we were about to leave, a gentleman shared with us the background of their company which was interesting and helpful. Always great to support local businesses. On our next visit to Stix, if I still have stomach space... highly likely..., I will stop in and try some of their other offerings whether it be sorbet or gelato. If you're looking for real Italian gelato in Honolulu, 7Gradi Gelato is the place! Everything here tastes incredibly fresh and authentic -- you can tell they use high-quality Italian ingredients and take their craft seriously. The texture is super smooth, never icy, and every flavor has a rich, clean finish. My favorite is the Chocolate Coconut Chip -- creamy, not too sweet, and absolutely addictive. They also have rotating seasonal flavors, and each one is worth trying. The shop has a cozy, stylish vibe, and the staff is always friendly and patient when you can't decide which flavor to pick (which happens every time ). Perfect for a sweet treat after dinner or a casual stop during a walk around Ward Village. Definitely one of the best dessert spots in Honolulu! read more

7Gradi Gelato boasts an impressive selection of flavors, allowing you to explore a delightful range. You have the option to combine two flavors, and many of them blend seamlessly together. Personally, I adore the toasted marshmallow flavor. Recently, I indulged in the exquisite combination of toasted marshmallow and matcha, and it was a culinary delight! This has become our go-to dessert spot after enjoying a meal at Boiling Crab! read more

85°C Bakery Cafe-Ala Moana

4.0

(345 reviews)

Early bird gets the worm…read more I've been to 85°C Bakery Cafe Ala Moana (85) multiple times and just realized I haven't written a review yet. This store had its soft opening in October 2022 and has expanded to another store in Kapolei August 2023. 85 hails from Taiwan and started business in 1984. They offer quality baked goods using Asian ingredients such as taro, mochi, sesame and pork sung (floss) and boba. There's also an extensive list of hot and cold drinks you can get here. There are over 1000 locations internationally with most of them in Taiwan and China. They can also be found in Hong Kong, Australia and USA. Like most bakeries, limited quantities of baked goods are offered during the morning and highly recommended to come here earlier in the day for a better selection. Most of my visits are sadly in the afternoon after work but my last visit was memorable. My friends and I just got through celebrating a friend's birthday at a nearby restaurant where on the way back to my car I made a pitstop to here. As expected the shelves were quite bare with limited offerings but they had what I wanted: marble taro. I had just eaten dinner and was full but picked one for the road and paired it with a taro lavender latte. I literally had no room in my stomach even though over an hour had passed since I got home so I had the roll and drink for breakfast the next morning. The marble taro roll was just as good as I remembered. It was soft with a nice texture contrast with the creamy, mashed taro paste in between. It had just a good amount of sweetness where I could indulge and not feel guilty. The star had to be the taro lavender latte which I didn't have high expectations for. I like to sample drinks with lavender as I do enjoy floral essence as it's not offered at many places. I had requested my drink to be 50% sweet, which was the right decision as I need to watch my sugar intake. Service was above average. It wasn't busy when I arrived so the line moved quickly. The guy at the counter was energetic and courteous which made my experience there pleasant. It was past 7pm where there were some people utilizing the dining area but it was quiet. 85 can be very lively during peak hours with heavy foot traffic. Overall, I'm a fan of 85 where I'll be sure to stop by again. Just need to be careful as my numbers for sugar and cholesterol are being monitored and I'm currently on medication.
