Disclaimer I came at 7 so it wasn't that packed. Ordered two cocktails, and a watermelon hookah. The drinks were ready immediately the hookah a arrived in ten mins (which is fast if compared to other places I've been). Although they don't have drafts the cocktail were made decently, and the staff was friendly. Surprisedly the hookah was average priced for sua nice bar. Music was good for a night out. Hookah was smooth not to strong or weak. The one of the swing seats was broken but still useable. The bathroom didn't have any soap but was very clean. Prices for drinks were reasonable for the bar, I paid about ten per cocktail. Overall i enjoyed my experience and will be back. When I come if the service is the same I'll give five stars. read more

*BEWARE OF FRAUD AND RACISM* I'm not usually one to write reviews, especially when I haven't had a chance to talk to a general manager and clear things up, but now I know that wont happen and I will be getting the police involved. On Friday a group of friends and I went to 77 degrees for some drinks and hookah which we do every so often. My friend (who is black) went to the bar near the Rose Room doors and purchased a hookah. After waiting some time we finally got it and it did not work. 3 different times he took it back to the same counter and they claimed to fix it but just gave it right back to him, broken. In the mean time, there was a hookah a gentlemen who was sitting with us who was leaving said we could use since he had paid for it and it would go to waste otherwise. So we used it while we waited and I ordered 3 drinks for friends and I, totaling $28 which should've been 2 vodka sprites, and one cherry vodka sour all requested with Tito's Vodka. I received 3 straight bottom shelf vodka's. I immediately closed my tab in frustration. Out of nowhere about 15 minutes later a random waitress comes up to us and we express to her that the hookah we had paid for still was not working and asked for her help. She said "Oh I see a hole in the foil, let me take it and bring it back with a new one" After some time goes by she comes back empty handed and says "I'm not bringing it back to y'all because you didn't pay for it. It's someone else's" then proceeds to accuse the 3 black friends in my party to have taken it from someone. After all of us insisted that my friend had paid for it, and it could be verified with the girls that sold it to him at the other bar, and with their credit card records, we asked to talk to the manager because she was still insisting it wasn't ours and wouldn't give it back to us. When the manager arrived, he immediately accused the black guys in my group of stealing it from someone as well. 6 of us sat there and told him time and time again that he can check the credit card records and ask the bartenders who sold it to us but he refused. We then asked for the general manager because we felt there was a race issue and an obvious issue with him and the waitress being honest, this manager said "He's not going to waste his time on y'all." and would not go get him. I'd like to point out that we were never given the benefit of the doubt, they never cared to verify with the other bartenders or their computers, and the waitress who made the accusations was seen drinking the entire time right in front of us and that manager. I'm not entirely sure the waitresses aren't allowed to drink on the job but at the point of our confrontation with her what she had drank had definitely impaired her judgment and functionality. After 20 minutes of going back and forth with them we just decided to leave because we weren't getting anywhere. Yesterday (Monday) I checked my bank account and after we left there, my card was charged several times for random amounts. I called them multiple times, and went and filed a claim with my bank immediately. Today I looked at my account, and I've been charged TWICE MORE TODAY! I have tried reaching out every way possible but nobody is getting back to me. Between the obvious racism and the now over $100 I've been charged for 3 bottom shelf vodka's, we will be filing a police report and will NEVER go back there. *Please note, if you go through other reviews for this location you will see several regarding racism and fraud. Seems to be on ongoing issue nobody is addressing. Pretty pathetic.* *UPDATE (4/29/19)* I finally got in contact early last week with the general manager and a woman who is above him. They both reassured me this would be handled and they would get back to me asap with an explanation and solution.... It's been about a week and now I cannot get a hold of them and nobody got back to me. I provided them with pictures of the charges to my account and a very detailed rundown of what happened so there shouldn't be any question there is a problem there. I had SEVERAL MORE charges post to my bank account and was forced to close the account altogether this past Friday. I've told the GM and the woman I spoke with before that I planned on filing a police report but wanted to give them a chance to handle this first. This place is pretty overpriced, but still a good time for hookah and some drinks. If you're looking to drink a little more, I would recommend pregaming it, since a drink can be pretty expensive. I've had a few bad experiences with the crowd here, as they can be a little pretentious, as can the staff. What keeps me coming back is that it's a great place to get dressed up for, it's on a rooftop, it's connected to The Rose Room if you want to dance later (would suggest 77 Degrees, then Rose Room for a fun night), and it has a pretty cool aesthetic vibe (modern seating, neon lighting). It can get crowded, but it isn't impossible to get a spot here. Once you do, it's pretty easy to sit down, talk, and smoke hookah if you're into that. It's one of the nicer looking places in Austin to hang out, with a more young professional crowd. It's conveniently located, and it has heaters outside in the winter. Overall, would recommend it, especially to talk and hang out before going into Rose Room. read more

This bar was okay. We paid $39 for two drinks... we got a double shot bc the drinks were not strong enough. But 20$ a drink... wow. The bar was dirty. The day I went it was raining the day before so everything was still wet. The view was okay, the "roof top" part of the bar wasn't open when we went around 8pm. All in all, 2 stars. Don't typically write reviews but I was so dissatisfied that I feel like I need to in order to let people know what kind of management is running this business. My friends and I were out celebrating and bought a hookah that wasn't hitting so we asked for it to be fixed so they took it from us only to bring one back that was completely burnt through and proceeded to tell us that we had took someone else hookah and that we weren't going to get one back. So we then asked to speak to the manager to try to resolve this issue. He then began to listen to only the waitress that didn't serve us (group of 6), and this is the same waitress that had been drinking on the job Right in front of her Manager... that manager refused to fix our hookah and accused us of stealing the hookah and told us we would have to pay for another one if we wanted one, yet we just bought it no more than 10 minutes prior to this . So we then asked for a refund after trying to explain to him that we had just bought it and it wasn't hitting. We then asked for the Managers boss and he then told us "he's not gonna waste his time on y'all" which in my opinion is unprofessional especially when it comes to our money and ruining our night of celebrating. And what makes this all better is, the day after this incident my roommate was going through their bank statements to find that they had been charged multiple times that night AFTER our tab was already closed... I'm not sure how that would be possible at all after the Tab was already closed and we were already at home at the time it was charged so from my guess of this is that the card number was written down by one of the employees only to be later used to reimburse themselves for their mistake and additional charges. So if you do go to this establishment keep an eye on your bank statement the following day because the staff will try to steal money from you. I know this can't be the only time this has happened and I hope the Young manager and waitress will be held accountable for this inconvenience and this form of robbery. read more

My best friend and I happened upon this place the other night and ladies beware, we felt like we entered into a meat market. The setup is not bad, you go up the stairs to a hookah area and bar, though there's not really anywhere to sit if you're not smoking. We made a pit stop into the bathroom and it was disgusting and not stocked (it was only 9:45 pm so there's not really an excuse for this). Either something had spilled or one of the toilets was leaking, but there was a stream of something wet coming from one of the stalls and there was no soap in any of the soap dispensers - thank goodness for hand sanitizer. The door guy told us that they have a dance floor that opens at 10 pm... we didn't stick around long enough to check it out. The upstairs is cool and has a good view for being in the Domain, but again, it felt like a meat market, so we bolted. Visited this club along with 9 of my friends. I was told that I could not enter because of my shoes. I asked why, the bouncer response was because no sneaker heads are allowed. I asked him to explain what does he mean? He failed to provide me with a genuine explanation. Meanwhile there were multiple individuals (Non-Minorities) entering with sneakers. Furthermore me and my fiancé are standing outside of the club confused and 20 minutes go by. At this point we are down the street trying to figure out what to do when a different bouncer approached us. He asked how many people am I with? Garbage bar. Their dress code policy is a joke and pretentious. It's 2017. No flat billed hats and profiling potential patrons in the middle of an over priced bar scene is obnoxious. The bar itself could be really enjoyable, given the lay out. But management needs to get their priorities right. Not an inviting atmosphere at all. Take some lessons on running a service establishment and try again. read more

I totally enjoyed this place minus one hiccup. Upon entering, I felt like I was on vacation for some reason. It was pretty early evening on a weekday, so it wasn't too crowded, and I liked the vibe. They have hookas (and e-hookas), which I did not partake in, but I also didn't feel bad making clouds with my e-cig because of it. I was asked to put down a card to start a tab, which was a little weird, but I was ok with it. We had an old fashioned, ordered some fish tacos, and enjoyed our drink so much we ordered another even though we were going to head out after one. Watching the sunset from the rooftop was really cool and relaxing. The one issue was that my husband ended up paying, and they didn't return my card (I rarely pay, so I had forgotten they took it). I had to go back for it days later when I remembered what happened. Luckily, they didn't charge it, and I work very near the area, but if it would have been out of the way I would have been annoyed. IDK if its just the rulers of the Domain, and their outwardly display of inconsistencies when it comes to white patrons vs POC patrons, but just like many of the entertainment places in the Domain, what a black guy gets turned down wearing, a white guy will get in with. I haven't yet seen them blatantly discriminate against women, but men of color, yeah.. you better text the door guy your outfit for approval before you step in here. They WILL send you packin' if they don't like your attire. I've seen some good lookin, sharp dressed men get turned away because their Polo style shirt had too many graphics on it, but then skraggly white dudes inside have on soccer jerseys?? Wayment.. So, its the TONE at the Domain. If I'm not going with the right group of fun people, I KNOW this isn't the most enjoyable spot for me. The music is pretty much EDM, or at least everything on the radio sped up to 120 bpm, so be prepared for THAT as your music background. LOL Its fun outside, the view is dope, but... yeah. Nice place to day drink during the week. I work in the domain and decided to drop by after work on a weekend. Totally different crowd and was told by the door guy I was out of dress code; luckily I was with two pretty friends and he allowed me in, which by that point I was already over it. I was still in my work uniform from bar tending down the street; and a good percentage of the dudes were in shorts and wife beaters and very unfashionable. This bar has good music and a nice view, although out of all the times I've come to this place i recently was denied service when buying a drink. A customer before me did not tip so the bartender specifically told me, "I am not going to serve you if you do not tip me" mind you he was not the one making my drinks, the other female bartender was. (He ruined the tip for her). This bartender ran my card so I could pay for my drinks and as he gives me my card back he continues to tell me that he is not going to serve me if I do not tip him. The female bartender had my drinks made and ready to be given to me, but once her coworker continued to beg for HER tip she dumped the drinks out and didn't not give me any drinks. I asked for a refund back including my $15 tip. I have friends and family that work In the service industry so I know how it is to not get tipped, but you do not refuse service to the next person when you don't know if they are tipping you or not. And my friend has been charged 2 times for amounts she didn't authorize either. 77 degrees rooftop reminds me of a posh restaurant called Aqua at a luxury hotel in India. Point being, the rooftop patio is real classy. Seating is under several pergolas, in two levels. Although they have food and drink, the real scene is about the shisha. 77 degrees is connected to the rose room, this being the better of the two. We went as a big group and were recommended the watermelon shisha. This is literally a watermelon sitting on top of the shisha to house the coal. This technique keeps the shisha smooth without having to worry about soot getting into the pipe. There's plenty of flavours to choose from. I personally felt the cocktails were weak and ill structured but this could've been because they're afraid of over serving the crowd. This place has open seating so if you're going as a big group, get there a little early to get good spots on the rooftop. Compared to the rest of the seedy hooka lounges in Austin, this was a very refreshing change. Tip: there's a dress code to follow , the bouncer will enforce it. Dress according to get in. Don't go here with the intention of enjoying a drink on a breezy rooftop. And those swings in the pictures? There's only two. My group of 6 ordered drinks from a waitress that weren't delivered after 30 minutes. I went to the bar as a test and there were 8 people behind there and promptly received a drink. Finally, 2 of the 4 drinks arrived, watered down like they had been sitting a while. With the other drinks, credit card and waitress MIA, I asked an employee to hunt down a manager. My friends without drinks had to go to the bar to get their drinks. Let me note that bar was not packed by any means at this time. New waitstaff at a new place is excusable. What's not, is how it was handled. Or rather, not handled. The "manager" never materialized, comps or an apology were not offered and we never saw our waitress again or any chance of salvaging a crappy experience. I don't own a bar but I'm pretty sure to be successful with so much other competition in the immediate area you should be good at least ONE thing. Preferably, providing good drinks in a reasonable amount time. This place only looks good. Luckily, for people hoping to enjoy a few cocktails there are many others places now open at Rock Rose to happily take your money and offer better service. Like St. Genevieve, which I will review next because it was great. BTW, the hooters type shirts/uniforms the female waitstaff cheapened the whole experience. Very Racist staff and Owner. If you are a black male don't go there. The same rules should be applied to all patrons. Not just straight black males. I was told that I couldn't get in because I had holes in my jeans. It wasn't a hole. After I showed Luis Vargas, he said it looked like there was and still denied me entry. Cool, I'm fine with that if it's policy (even though I always wear those jeans and always get in) BUT right behind were two people with more rips in their jeans than mine. I pointed them out, I was ignored, then they got in. A black door man saw it and agreed that what happened was wrong. He said it was politics and complaining won't help. To me it's covert racism. I told Luis Vargas that I thought he was being racist. He said "I can't be racist because I'm Mexican" and was serious. He's obviously in need of some training. Someone with a mindset like that is very dangerous. He wouldn't even know if was doing something wrong. I'm very disappointed in the judgement that went behind hiring your staff. This isn't the first time I've experienced this type of Jim Crow style discrimination from your establishment or others and I'm sick of it. I asked to file a complaint and Luis ignored me and called two cops over. The only reason why I know his name was because one of the officers helped me by getting that information. If something isn't done I'm gonna call for all black patrons in Austin to boycott your establishment and protest outside of your building. I come here all the time. Today is the worst. The server in the area closer to the rose room forgot our hookah 3 times. I talked to her literally three times. I searched several hookah bars and saw some pictures of 77 degrees and that was it. I saw the décor online and was set for us to go. This place is in the domain where other bars/restaurants are located. Once we entered, there was a guy at the door dressed casually and then asked us if we were old enough. Ooops my bad guy, we thought you were one of the customers. He was cool and off we went. You go straight upstairs and instantly reminded me of Miami. We went to the roof and there is one bar. The line was not bad at all and remind that way all night. There are also two stairways that go up another roof but we didn't make it up there. We ordered are drinks at the bar and got serviced throughout the night. Our waitress was alright. I've been in more packed places before and got faster service but it is what is was. We tried a passion fruit hookah and enjoyed it. They also offer some with additional fruit but we didn't try it. Their flavors are scarce but good enough for me. It was $25 to rent the hookah and then flavors are $10 and with the fruit $15. The crowd was cool. A mixture of the older and younger crowd. Not the 6th street crowd but a steady fun one. The DJ was also cool. He played a mixed genre of music from old school to what makes you drop it like it's hot to reggae and so forth. We definitely will be coming here again. I think I fell more in love with it because it made me think of my time in MIA. The only thing I wish was for more fans around the area. There were only located around the cabanas. Every year for 3 years I have come here to celebrate my birthday. I am not one to go out all the time but when I do I always come here. They are super nice. I have never had any issues. This place is so nice. It's a good place to hang out, have drinks, and smoke the hookah! The other great thing about it is if you get there and you feel like going to dance you can walk into the rose room which is connected to it go do a little dancing and then come back to hang out. There is no cover at either of the places. The lighting is cool. The DJs play some great music. It's just a nice place overall. I don't know why they have horrible reviews on here. I have never had any Issues and never witnessed anything. read more

77-degrees is a new rooftop bar next to St. Genevieve. I love the concept, atmosphere and vibe. The drinks were good. The Vegas bombs were really good. The passion fruit swizzle was a good drink, definitely tropical. There's also hookah here which is neat. One of our friend ordered a round of drinks and the bartender spilled the entire cocktail over him so he was wet for the night... All the bartender said after it happened was: "at least you'll blend in with the rain." That was pretty rude! So beware of those bartender. Will be back to try other items on their menu and hopefully it will be a more beautiful day out! read more

Don't go if you're wearing a "light sports athletic jacket". What I was wearing didn't have issues with any of the other bars around the area. I went ahead and did a 1.5 mile jog instead of going back. To all the Austinites who like to stay fit. We're not allowed to go with a light athletic jacket even with everything else we wear underneath is appropriate. Anyone else from Columbia, Brazil, Germany, and other South American European Countries that wear the same thing. You're warned not to bring your light athletic jackets to this bar.
