I was really excited to try this place out after seeing some photos on social media. I stopped in with my boyfriend on Saturday afternoon when there were about 7 people there so it wasn't busy. The bartender was less than enthusiastic to greet us. We ordered one of the colossal drinks. Let me ahead and tell you not to order it now. It was literally one cocktail topped with club soda on top. Took a girls trip down to Austin with my bestfriend and we were looking for a rooftop to have drinks and hang out. I'm pretty sure there's a 77 degrees rooftop in Houston but I've never been. I've heard good things about the one in Houston so I figured why not try the one in austin!?? EH. We came on a Saturday night. As soon as we found the place, we had to wait in line- which is not too strange in these COVID times because some places are trying to limit their capacity. No social distancing in the line so we definitely had to tell the people around us to back up a couple of times. When we finally got in- it was still packed so imagine my confusion about standing in line for me to come into a crowded area. Anyways we walked in and we were kind of forced to go to the bar to get a drink... I can't remember what we ordered (the bartender recommended it) but I definitely wouldn't get it again. It's the drink that comes in the Topo Chico bottle for reference. It took us a while to finally find a seat but we did on one of the rooftops settings. We waited about 30-45 minutes before somebody finally decided to ask us if we were okay and wanted to order something. The waitress who was in the area was servicing literally everyone around us and seemed like she didn't want to acknowledge that we were there. Like there was a group of guys that came 20 min after us and she helped them as soon as they sat down... WTF!? Anyways a gentleman finally helped us order some hookah and we enjoyed that until we were ready to go. The kind of music played here is top40 with EDM- not my type of music but if you like then definitely come here. This is a place that belongs on 6th street... or at least wants to. We came here for my friend's birthday and they wouldn't let us bring her cupcakes inside (why?). Their drinks are way overpriced and not all that great. I ordered some coconut drink that everyone agreed tasted like tanning lotion. One of my friends was drinking bottled beer and the waitress brought another beer without him asking, and made him pay for it even though he didn't want it. I only gave two stars because the hookah is actually pretty decent, although hard to pass and share with the number of people they cram in this bar. UPDATE 9/4/18: Officially brought this place down to 1 star. I came here again this past weekend and the service as AWFUL. The hookahs took forever to get, and we never once had anyone come around with fresh coals, despite asking numerous times. This was a great place to chill for the night after dinner. My coworkers and I stopped by after having dinner. We didn't know where to go just to talk and avoid going home but 77 degrees was perfect. We sat on the the big swings on the rooftop and the kid in my loved it. I can't say the music was memorable but I didn't have any complaints and the atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for. I have been here numerous times and had a bad experience every single time. They tripled charged my credit card and then it was a tedious process to correct it; after that, it was just small things while in the bar. Last night, I decided to give it another shot with my friends. One of my guy friends happened to be wearing a rainbow shirt and they refused to let him in, claiming he wasn't "following the dress code" because his shorts had a drawstring on them. They asked to check nobody else's waistband to see if they had a drawstring but his. I discussed with the bouncer that sleeveless shirts were also part of the dress code and MANY people were not abiding by that and he said "Well we make exceptions" so clearly they pick and choose who needs to follow the "dress code". This past weekend I was denied entry into 77 Degrees for being out of the proper dress code. The doorman explained to me thoroughly that I would not be granted access because I was wearing shorts (in good taste). He clearly outlined this policy on a sign that was leaning alongside the access door. I then stepped out of the line to watch the doorman allow the two people immediately behind me inside, who were also wearing shorts (and ripped). I was very upset. This led me to inquire about two things: 1. The inconsistency in the employees to determine what is within fit of the dress code. 2. Why was an acceptation made to another party for this rule clearly outlined in the guidelines? This same mistreatment has happened to me on MULTPLE occasions at this establishment. I have also had many friends (celebrities or not) who have also had the same issue at the 77 Degrees in both Austin AND Houston. I have continued to return to the Austin location because it is a popular location that friends would like to attend. However, have received repeated poor service and an overall poor experience (Waitress/Waiter Service, Hookah Wait Time, Bathroom Sanitation). Either there needs to be consistency shown amongst the employees in denying ALL groups of individuals wearing shorts access to the establishment or change the rule to allow ALL groups of individuals access if they are within good taste. Lastly, if a rule is going to be enforced, then the guest would greatly appreciate that the dress code and guidelines established are followed by the employees. I fortunately didn't have any issues with service while at this bar. My girlfriends and I stopped by while bar hopping on Rock Rose and we ended up having a great time. There are 3 different levels, each with their own bar, and they all are open rooftop. When we were upstairs and accidentally spilled a drink on the seating, someone rushed over right away to help us clean it up. All but one bartender was friendly and attentive even when they were super busy. They have a lot of areas for seating, which is a nice change for a busy bar. Let's be real his joint is not my kind of place. But I must say we had a pretty good time when we joined others celebrating a birthday here on a Friday night. If you are not an old F.U.C. like me and want to wear your skinny clothes then you will fit right in. The patio and couches are pretty comfortable and service is just fine. As I shared with Management, the person who claimed he was the GM ON 10/3 and would not give me his name, THE STAFF are at the greatest risk. I came out wearing my mask, 6 feet distancing - the tables ARE NOT six feet apart. I sat at my table for multiple hours - asking non-seated patrons to please respect boundaries. A table of young women not wearing masks and too close rebuffed my request and said NO. They became angered and fought back. I shared to please, be mindful of the Virus and as I wore my mask, I am immune compromised. THE RESULT -The 77 "security/management" asked ME to leave. 77 Degrees has everything I look for in a bar. Let me give you the recipe for success. I checked out 77 Degrees with my friend while visiting Austin for the weekend. First off, rooftop. Who doesn't love rooftops? You can stand by the edge and have a great view of the city and people walking around. Sure this is Texas so rooftops can get a little hot but it wasn't bad on the night I went in late August. 77 Degrees is in the domain area of Austin, north side. Second, an upscale lounge with comfortable seating. With the white plush seating, 77 Degrees has that Miami vibe going for it. Third, stiff drinks. We stuck with rum and coke all night and one of the guy bartenders really made us a strong drink that put us over the top. My piece of advice to my fellas. I know we're inclined to approach the hottest female bartender for our drinks but trust me, it's much better to go to guy bartenders as a general rule as they will likely be more generous with their pours when it comes to mixed drinks! When I asked one of the female bartenders for two rum and cokes, she brought me four...hey I took them and double fisted, I'm not complaining. Third, a good crowd. Not overly crowded but just enough people so there's a nice atmosphere. Lots of good looking ladies in short mini dresses doesn't hurt either. Fourth, good music. Mostly top 40 with a good deal of hip hop and some classics. Added to the atmosphere too. That's my recipe for success and 77 Degrees hit on all accounts. read more

Cool spot. Trying this new spot out in Austin. The drink prices are on par. Come out to he Domain. The Roof Top bar is the most litt but chill spot. It does however connect to the Rose Room which is super litt. One thing I was not happy about it the drink selection. They did not have Heineken. On a breezy Friday night, walking into this place was like stepping into Narnia!!! Yea I said it! WOW! The clean rooftop deck with Miami style furniture stole my heart! Hookah,drinks, okay music and swinging chairs was everything I never knew I needed on a Friday night! The only bummer was our server lost my friends credit card. LADIES! DO NOT COME HERE! I came in then here and then went to the rose room. This is not a place where women should go if they don't want to get their butt grabbed by a disgusting security guard. So, I was on the dance floor near one of the V.I.P area and there was Bottle Service Girls coming in and a whole security guy was pushing me away by grabbing my a**. Even my friend witnessed it and he reacted wayyy before I did. I confronted him and explained that he grabbed my a** but instead of him apologizing he just got into my face and my friends face and he was denying it. I told another security guard and he didn't do anything but bring us to the back of the dance floor to talk about it. He still refused to admit to it and he brought his corny looking friend and said "I promise you that he didn't grab your ass." I went off on him and he started laughing like a little wussy. I told him to mind his business. At this point, I wanted to call the police. But I didn't want to have to do that so I talked to the manager instead and explained the situation and that he can check the cameras. Went to this bar on Sunday night with a group of my coworkers. Had a couple drinks at wonder bar right before and was still feeling pretty fine. Arrived at 77 and got one mixed drink after this drink I don't remember any of the night and nobody had touched it besides me. They then also cut me off after having 1 drink when I've never gotten cut off before. Pretty sure I got drugged by the bartender so someone working behind the bar and this really sucks because you should be able to trust your bartenders. The next 2 days I could barley do anything the symptoms all matched up with being roofied so I would steer clear from this bar. Super dope rooftop bar. The music was always on point and drinks were always cold. We got there for happy hour and surprisingly enough the drinks were pretty strong seeing as they were cheaper. We decided to go with The fish bowls were really good and honestly are a better deal than drinking their specialty drinks. Also no beer on tap for the beer lovers! They also have hookahs that you can rent which is a great addition. I'd suggest to go with a fruit topper. Last longer and great flavor! I also love that you can grab a hookah here!! My only complaint is that the music SUCKS. They play early 2008ish pop music like Asher Roth and it really killed my vibe. Great chill place for groups to chill! If you like hookah, this is a good place to be! I went with my friends and we were a group of 4. The bar on top was a bit crowded for going on the day before Thanksgiving but still great vibe! Bartenders were super busy so it took awhile to get a drink but they were great at their job.
