The lounge was not packed at all and this was on a Saturday. There weren't any ppl upstairs - it was a light crowd. The DJ set wasn't enjoyable at all. I could've done better than that. Then, my friends payed a lot of money to get a sign on the TV and DJ shoutout telling me happy birthday and he pronounced my name wrong. Embarrassing and a turn off cause we're spending our money to celebrate me here and the DJ couldn't even get my name right. I wouldn't come back here at all. I was bored. It was not lit. Better off partying at a strip club.

We were completely willing to comply and did not want to cause a scene, but we were genuinely confused about what had happened. I even politely asked if they had the wrong person because it was so unexpected. What made the situation even more frustrating was that we had literally just purchased another round of drinks. Before our friend was asked to leave, he handed the drinks to the rest of our table, which was sitting right next to the bar, and then signed off on his tab. Shortly afterward, he was told to leave and was being escorted out. We simply wanted to understand what had happened. If he was too intoxicated, if someone had complained, or if there was some other issue, we would have respected that. But when we asked on our way out, we were essentially told, "My boss said so," and were told to leave without any further explanation. We weren't looking to argue or challenge the decision. We just wanted a basic explanation, especially after having been allowed to continue ordering and spending money there. Being asked to leave is one thing. Being given absolutely no explanation and being left with drinks we had just paid for and couldn't use was incredibly frustrating. The whole experience was unnecessarily confusing and left a very bad impression. The staff was incredibly rude and if anything seemed to escalate the situation with threats and yelling. First and last time we'll ever go as this seems to be a common occurrence after reading other reviews. Obviously an establishment can kick anyone out as they have that right and we complied, it's just the no explanation that left us feeling frustrated and confused. Not to mention the wasted money on drinks we never got to have.

I saw a mix of post-rock and sexualized shock industrial that was utterly memorable. It was one of those South-by-Southwest nights that you remember for the rest of your life. You may or may not be lucky enough to get bands of that quality on regular weeks. * * * The space and bar are functional and do what they have to do. They have nice clean bathrooms with appropriate privacy. This is a major contrast with their next door neighbor - Elysium. They have one single space with no remarkable nooks, crannies, niches or rooftops. Lots of clubs in downtown Austin have nooks, crannies, niches and/or rooftops. But if your band is good, a single space is all you need anyway. There is not a lot of seating - but they have enough if you really need it. They have a minimalist but adequate bar. What I drank was not memorable but it did the job. * * * Whether you love or hate the 13th floor will depend on the bookings. But the physical facilities are decent enough.

Rodeo plays a variety of music and the people actually know how to dance!
