Our first time coming here. When we first walked inside, the girl was on the phone, so a male employee asked what he could help us with. We said we wanted a table for two. He then told us that when the girl got off the phone, she would help us. He went ahead and seated us. We both got steak-18 oz aged ribeye with mash potatoes and a petite sirloin with baked potato. The mashed potato portion was small. It looked like they used an ice cream scoop. I had to send my sirloin back because it was rare in the second cut. When it came back, it was still a little to red for me, so I traded with my husband. The steak tasted good. I was surprised that rolls didn't automatically come with the steak. You only get one side unless you order more for an extra charge. read more

What a fantastic experience! Started with some creative cocktails at the bar with Eva taking care of us. I had a signature drink called, I believe, Cell block 73. It is a smoked drink- awesome! Moved to a table for dinner and started with seared ahi tuna & fried green tomatoes. Both great but the tomatoes I would list as " must have". Next was crab bisque. Great depth of flavor. Aged Ribeye with Asparagus, mashed potatoes and Brussel sprouts. All are recommended but the brussel sprouts are "must have". We met the manager Gary and owner Anthony. Great people and great food! I had the Queen-sized prime rib. I've been around a long time and never once had one as tender as this one. Although the sides were not included in the entree, there were both exceptional in flavor. Dessert was a bit pricey for this neck of the woods but a lot larger than I would have expected. The coffee was really good. The appetizers we started with were very tasty too. This restaurant is a gem! My husband & I went for restaurant week & the food was fantastic! We got the angry lobster tails appetizer...yummy! We both got the crab bisque. It had such a great flavor & lots of crab meat. The mahi mahi was perfect! I also loved the rosemary Romano risotto. My husband got prime rib & said it was the best he's had in a long time. The specialty drinks are delicious as well. Get the bourbon bread pudding for dessert...you won't be disappointed! The portions were large & we definitely didn't leave hungry. I'm not quite sure why there are some reviews that descrbie 73 and Main as fine dining, or can say their food is delicious. My family and I have been coming to 73 and Main for many years and I will say at first the service and food was on point. Unfortunatley I can no longer say the same. The service is very slow and the food is no longer up to par. I don't mind spending money on dinner, especially when I can brag about how amazing the food was and would refer others to go eat there. Instead, that last few times we have eaten at 73, I have been diappointed and now look at it as paying for over priced cold food, that tastes terrible. When I'm going to spend $32 or more on a piece of fish or meat, I expect my meal to be on point. When your food comes out cold or lukewarm and has no taste, you wonder why your spending so much money on something that should be worth the money your are paying for, and you all so wonder why you just didn't stay home to make your own dinner that would have blown that meal away and would have been half the price. We keep coming back because we like to support our locals, each time we have the same complaint about the food and service and are hopeful that the complaints are being heard and changes are being made. Unfornatley it is clear that the restaurant is not taking any of the complaints or bad reviews into consideration, because the same problems keep occurring. We will no longer come back to 73 and Main to eat, as we have tried to give them many chances. I feel that if something is not done on their end, they will continue to lose more customers. It's a shame because the rustic environment and having some where close to eat was once worth something to look forward to. read more

Visited for the first time just a few days ago and I only have awesome things to share about 73 & Main. My friend and I had a friendly, knowledgeable server who went out of her way to describe various menu items as it was my first experience there. The manager Jodi was great also, checking on us and making it a well-rounded yet wonderful time. And the food? So delicious! So worth the 45-minute drive from Mooresville. We split a NY Strip, which was perfectly cooked to our selected temp. My friend talked me into the potato cakes and she did not choose wrong at all! We also shared the cheese toast -- a must! -- and a tuna appetizer that was mouthwatering. SUCH a great meal topped off with a bourbon pecan bread pudding that I'd probably drive back for all on its own. Outstanding! We made reservations for date night at 7pm. We arrived right at 7pm. The friendly hostess greeted us with a smile and informed us it would be just a moment for our table. It was just a few minutes and we were escorted to our table in the main dining area. The waitress was prompt to come and take our drink order and ask if we would like an appetizer. We passed on the appetizer. I ordered a glass of wine and it was brought over timely. We opted for the filet mignon medium rare, vegetables de jour (french green beans) and risotto. The filet mignon was cooked a perfect medium rare. It had a great flavor to the meat. Very tender to cut. Melt in your mouth delicious. The french green beans had just the right amount of mix between crunch and tender. The risotto was creamy with a good amount of cheese. They had a live band in the main dining area that played at a volume level that still allowed for normal conversation. I will definitely be back to dine here again soon. read more

Very happy to see an actual restaurant in this town! When I come to visit my parents, we actually have somewhere to eat! Reservations online were very convenient. Wait to be seated was quick. The food was very good. The bruschetta was delicious. I had the steak salad with balsamic. The Salad would have been perfect but the balsamic was so full of sugar the whole salad turned so so sweet. The fish and chips were very good. The beer selection is great as well. Big complaint was service. It took over 35 min for our appetizer, and then another 40 min for our entrees. We were barely checked on during this long wait. The waitress did come over a few times but never addressed the fact our food was taking forever. The server brought it out and set it behind us, and I finally had to ask the waitress if we could have our food. Would return for sure, hoping service will be better once they are open longer. read more

Food was good and everyone who came by the table was super sweet. The only thing that was concerning was when our food came out the runner set it on a table near us and walked away. Our food sat they're getting cold while we were sitting near it getting hungry. People would walk past our food including other servers and I could only imagine hair falling into it and people coughing over it. Finally I had to ask another server if that was our food and if we could please have it. She consulted with the runner and another server and finally they decided it would be OK if we had our food and we were served.it. By then the food had cooled off. Enjoyed a trip for dinner in August with my boyfriend's parents. They raved about the steak and service and they were spot on. I was impressed with the menu, the food and the amazing hospitality we received from both our server and others who stopped to ensure our meal and dining experience was enjoyable. Received absolutely horrible service again. Got chicken that was still pink and a little cold in the middle. The server told me that it was supposed to be medium. I didn't eat it because I didn't want to get sick. Just wonder how many other people were told that same lie and got sick? I don't understand why anyone thinks this place is good. It's not. I gave them multiple opportunities and each time, they failed miserably. Have eaten there four times. Each time was progressively worse. Staff lacked even the most basic customer service skills. We found the food to be just average. The French toast and croissants were dry and hard. The potatoes were very dry and hard as well. We did enjoy the salmon, it seem to be the only item on the menu that was not overcooked. Also the grilled vegetables were quite tasty. However the desserts were store-bought and lacked any taste. It seems to be the same quality you could get at a low-cost supermarket. Especially for the price I do not think I would return. read more

Was never allowed in! We made reservations for a special seafood brunch they were having... i got a call that Friday to confirm our reservation, all was good then, Sunday morning while we were walking out the door to head there i got a call there was a water main break and it was being re scheduled for next week so went ahead and set it up for the next week... the next Sunday comes around no one confirmed our reservation we were all dressed up but i called right before we left just to be sure.... They had the special brunch the last weekend!!! No one called us to tell us it was back on!! No one else i know of was called to cancel?!?!? I felt like they over booked even though i called literally minutes after they advertised it... I also feel like they saw i had a out of state number so they discriminated against us....They offered for us to come in for a regular brunch and comp meals but at that point i was so disappointed and felt like they didn't want us even there we will never go there they lost some good customers! read more

We've been going here since they opened. Have always had great service and the food is consistently good. The atmosphere is nice.

73 & Main is great when your intention is to sit down in the restaurant to eat, however, when you order take-out, your experience can be very different. We had given them multiple chances, but, time-after-time, they forgot different parts of our order. Even the quality and service can vary: the last time we went to order takeout, the order took over half an hour longer than we were quoted (which was about 20 minutes) and after waiting, the rolls were unfinished (dough on inside). All of these things occurred pre-Covid, and unfortunately I don't see things improving read more

This was our second time here. First time I would've given it 5 stars...especially with our server Quest. He's great and we were lucky enough to have him serve our table again this visit. We made reservations for our anniversary dinner, did not take too much time. I have never known that management was trying to get us out of our table at any establishment until tonight. We were only there for an hour total. A larger party was seated next to us, complaining that they didn't have enough seats. Needed another table. Management stood nearby staring at us like we needed to hurry. Gave the other table drinks to keep them quiet/satisfied until we left. 2 people or 10 people...all of your customers should matter. Reservations matter. Don't rush existing to accommodate what you shouldn't have seated, when the table was not available. read more

We were in the middle of nowhere and wanted dinner that was not fast food but weren't in the mood to spend a lot. Found it on Yelp, reviews were promising so we mapped it. I will say, really nice atmosphere, not pretentious lots of bar food options and classier fare. We just grabbed a burger and a French dip. Both were outstanding, best French dip I have ever had. My wife and I stopped in for a drink and appetizer. We had the charcuterie which was very good. My wife had a glass of wine which she enjoyed and I had a Manhattan. My expectation was high but I was sorely disappointed. Especially for a restaurant that projects an upscale atmosphere. Apparently the bartender was out of sweet vermouth a key ingredient in a Manhattan. So basically I got a shot of bourbon in a fancy glass. I'll go back but won't order a mixed drink. We went for the Sunday buffet. Don't bother. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere, and the service is good. The buffet has always been cold, and today was no exception. The only thing hot was the bacon and the mashed potatoes. They have individually cooked omelets, but a very limited number of ingredients. When served they have a watery interior. Not just mine but my wife's too. The breakfast potatoes were cold today so the entire breakfast could not be a hot meal. They no longer have good dill sauce for the smoked salmon. Today the sauce was unrecognizable. We tried the sausage. It was cold. The chicken pancake tacos looked unappetizing. There was no salsa for them. I was looking forward to the prime rib and mashed potatoes. The potatoes were great. The color of the prime rib was between white and light grey. Covered with salty rub that overpowered the taste. It was tough. They give you a butter knife to cut everything. I had to ask for a steak knife. That enabled me to cut up the meat, but I could not chew it because it was so tough. Hardly cooked on the outside and raw in the middle. Not good. I put three pieces of meat on the take away plate. The desert table was good. Great pie and chocolate muffins. I hope they improve their food. It is now two strikes out. One more and we will wait for new ownership. read more

Very disappointed. My husband and I went on a date here, and we will not return. The atmosphere was nice, and the hostess was very friendly. The service from then on was subpar. It took a while for our server to come to our table to take our drink order. I ordered wine that took 15 minutes to arrive at the table and even longer for the bread basket. Neither of our steaks were cooked correctly, and were brought with no steak knives. We had to ask another server for those, as our server was nowhere to be found. I then watched the manager visit every table but ours (sometimes I expect things like that in this area being an interracial couple--and that is sad but here we are). The only thing that arrived in a timely manner was the check (go figure). Though the server was friendly, she was not attentive. People raved about this place to us, and I have no idea why. First and last time getting food here. Ordered a 6 oz sirloin medium well with cheese fries to go. Got home, steak was oozing blood. I had to cook the steak and upon eating it, it and the fries were so salty I cant get enough to drink. I'm retired and I can't afford to waste money. Loved it! My family and I were excited to visit 73 & Main because of the great reviews. We made dinner reservations on a Monday night around 6:00 to celebrate my birthday. We got there about 10 minutes early, and my party of 6 + 1 (child) were seated immediately. The atmosphere is great. We loved the large open windows and space in the restaurant. It was actually pretty busy for a Monday night and I was impressed with the prompt and attentive service we received. We started off with the firecracker shrimp and it was outstanding! I wish we had ordered two...they didn't last long. Poppy-seed bread was brought out and it too, was delicious. Most of the adults at our table ordered drinks--wine and beer--that was brought it quickly. I ordered the Norwegian salmon encrusted with pecans and a lime dill dressing with a side of brussel sprouts. The salmon was absolutely delicious. If I go there again, it will be difficult for me to try something else because the salmon was so good. The brussel sprouts to me were just OK. They had a balsamic glaze which was good, but they were a little too firm for my liking. I definitely won't be ordering those again. My mom ordered the bbq chicken flatbread and she loved it!
