High praise for this hidden gem in Bellaire. Family owned and operated. Our group was greeted by the owner, Michael, and the very funny server Maxine. Everything was detailed and you can feel how passionate they are about the food. We started off with the Gumbo and Lobster Bisque. The gumbo has a nice roux and full of flavor with shrimp, rice, and other tasty bits. The lobster bisque was one of my favorites of the evening with a rich and creamy texture. 5/5 Following the soup, we had some of the freshest Prince Edward Island oysters in Houston. We didn't try the Gulf oysters in this visit but our neighbor said they were delicious and looked huge. Next we had a ribeye steak with pasta and broccoli as the side. The steak was cooked perfectly and didn't need any sauce but the in house sauce that came with the steak had so much umami flavor, made by Michael as well. We had a pre-dinner stop at 7 Seas. Place was busy at the main counter so we seated ourselves on one of the side tables. We ordered 2 dozen gulf oysters. They were plump, fresh and delicious! Who would think to go for oysters in Chinatown? We wanted to order the crab fingers but they ran out. There are a ton of host sauces available. Posted left to right in terms of favorites. The truffle hot sauce elevates the oyster with truffle taste. We received oyster future recommendations to try like the one from Louisiana and the giant oyster from Seattle. Will be back. read more

I wouldn't expect an oyster bar to be in Bellaire, but 7 Seas was beyond expectation! I've found my new favorite place for oysters. Shout out to Michael, the owner, for being so welcoming and for taking the time to give all the recommendations! We started off with jumbo crab fingers as an appetizer. The house-made tartar sauce was great. We did a sampler of the Prince Edward Island oysters from Canada. They were so fresh, clean, with hints of sweetness in their own different ways. This was a nice contrast to gulf oysters that tend to be more brine-y. We stepped it up some with dressed oysters. The Millionaire Oysters were deep fried and topped with uni and caviar. Enough said. 10/10. The gumbo was thinner than what I'm used to but still delicious. Enjoyed our micheladas with the oysters. Can't wait to come back again soon! read more

Came here for the first time on Thanksgiving night, we had such a great experience here. Located in the main Chinatown plaza, next to an arcade. The place is small but they were able to accommodate our group of 6. We were craving a light snack and decided to swing by and we were so glad we did! The service was amazing, he was thorough with his explanations on the curations and preparations. The seafood was all very very fresh. We ordered the pink oysters and the Kumamoto oysters. We also ordered their scallops sashimi and their millionaire oyster both fried and raw. The fried was the original style that's topped with uni and caviar and I must say I really appreciated the contrast in texture. This place is very clean and cute! Probably have a total of 20 seats by the bar and two additional table so I don't think it's an ideal choice for a large party. Oysters are very fresh and they have different varieties along with many off the menu items. They are accommodating on mixing different type oysters. Wait staffs are very knowledgeable on what they sell and everything is AMAZING! NEW FAVORITE SEAFOOD SPOT UNLOCKED! This has officially become one of my favorite seafood restaurants. I'll be back again and again because the service, food quality, and atmosphere were all exceptional. Ian took incredible care of me at the bar, giving a full presentation of different sakes, Japanese whiskeys, and an amazing lineup of fresh seafood. The uni was outstanding. I even got to hold a live lobster before they prepared my stuffed lobster, which made the experience even more memorable. The oyster presentation is truly a hidden gem. If I'm being honest, this place is so easy to overlook because it's nestled in the heart of Chinatown in the Great Wall plaza where there are just so many places to try... but you shouldn't overlook it and give it a try. If you're craving fresh oysters, this is a great place to check out. They have a good variety of oysters that are fresh and delicious. I also tried their fried seafood and that was perfectly fried. The crisper exterior was well seasoned and the fish was perfectly flaky. I also thought the nautical theme was cute. The owner was really nice and service was good as well. I will say that while they have high chairs for kids, the tables are all high tops, so I would suggest bringing a high chair that's attachable to a table, or be prepared to put the high chair on top of the bar stool. read more

I found myself looking for a place to eat after work today. For the past month, I have been dedicating Fridays for seafood and was looking for restaurants beforehand. One restaurant, I recalled from my times I was in the plaza stood out, 7 Seas Oyster Bar. I had to give it a try. On a Friday night, I was a bit surprised that the restaurant did not have any customers. My cousin and I had the restaurant to ourselves at the bar. I decided to go with the dozen gulf oysters, dozen oysters Rockefeller, and 7 Seas platter. I have not had oyster in a while but I do enjoy it when the opportunity presents itself. They are a good size and came with the horseradish, cocktail sauce and lemon slices. The oyster Rockefeller is favorite for me, since it does get dressed with the cheese. Both were flavorful. The 7 seas platter was a nice pick too. You get a mix of catfish fillets, shrimp, hush puppies, and fries with tartar sauce and cocktail sauce. Nice breading on the fish and shrimp and the hush puppies and fries had a nice crispy bite to it. Overall I enjoyed the visit to 7 Seas Oyster Bar. In a very busy plaza, this is a hidden gem spot. The staff and owner/manager were very nice. If I am in the mood for oysters, I definitely know where to go. The price is reasonable and I liked the decor in the restaurant plus the boat shaped bar. It is a nice breath of fresh air when there is something not Asian cuisine related. But one issue is the parking in a lively area. No concerns for me. read more

I came to this restaurant solely on the yelp reviews but I didn't receive the same experience. It was myself and my boyfriend, we came around 4pm. The bartender/server just didn't seem like that was the position for me. It was just another couple there before we got there, we sat at the bar. We could barely get two words out of him at a time. I told him it was our first time and no responsenor interaction. We ordered 1/2 dz of chargrilled oysters and 1/2 dz oysters. They were huge, the biggest oysters I ever had and I don't know if that's good or bad. We also had the 7 seas fried rice, which was fresh but not seasoned well. I appreciate good reviews but they did not align with the experience we had there. They didn't have any napkins either. He got us a paper towel roll to use, which was fine but maybe it should have been available without us asking. read more

Bar only seating makes it harder for groups of 4+ to talk to each other. Service was friendly and most of the food came out very quickly. Super fresh never frozen seafood! Very nice selection of oysters (they were out of gulf) and a good variety of other dishes. Beer and wine available. We had: oysters - we tried almost all of them gumbo boudin puppies lobster crab stuffed with alfredo noodles catfish (this was supposed to be a shrimp and catfish combo but we didn't notice) shrimp cocktail chargrilled oysters - both rockefeller and garlic There were a couple order and billing mishaps but they were handled promptly. Wow! I wish I could give higher than 5 stars. Excellent friendly service and a warm environment to start with. I had such a good experience with family, and we look forward to coming back. We all enjoyed the raw sashimi lobster and the raw scallops. For the oysters, our favorites were the Gulf Oysters but the Japanese and Canadian oysters were extremely sweet as well. Even the chicken wings that we ordered from the menu were delicious and well-battered. Our dine-in experience was overall an amazing time and everything from service to the food and hospitality exceeded expectations. Otherwise, I wouldn't be writing this review! We were headed to a different restaurant when we found this place. We figured we would give it a try, especially after asking about the fresh oysters. According to the owner, they get all of their seafood fresh, including the shrimp and fish, nothing is frozen! He's very knowledgeable about the oysters and even offered a sample of the gumbo. They offer various sodas and beer. We had a pineapple Jarritos and a Corona Michelada. We had: * a bowl of crabmeat and shrimp gumbo - shrimp is tiny and a bit on the overcooked side but overall tasty * one dozen oysters on the half shell sampler, included all four oysters that were available for the day. These were nicely shucked and cleaned. * catfish fillet platter with French fries - one of the freshest catfish plate I've had in Houston! * 14 oz ribeye plate with French fries - juicy, was cooked more medium although ordered medium rare. We loved the creamy onion garlic sauce along with the chimichurri sauce. There was grilled onion and a little bit of broccoli and a tomato garnish. Service is great and friendly. They offer off menu oyster variations such as Japanese ponzu w/assorted roe and Rockefeller so be sure to ask. The owner also mentioned that they will be offer Chilean sea bass in November. We came on a weekend lunch w our 3 young kids and I have to say this is a very chill and family friendly place. Oysters were amazing, so fresh and everything about it was delicious. Would def come back to try all the other varieties My second favorite was actually the fried catfish. The breading/ seasoning/ frying was one of the best I've tasted, and also was light and not greasy. My kid loved the fried shrimp in the same breading. I can't express this enough. Let me tell you, this place is WORTH IT. This is a place I would try to gatekeep for all my oyster and seafood loving friends, but I want to share this experience. I have been there a total of 5-6 times within the past 1-2 months and you can see how consistent they are with the food, service, and how you can see they are constantly working on the menu. I wish nothing but the best for this place, truly. I've tried almost everything on the menu (aside from the new stuff they added like the pasta). I'll list my favorites from memory The fried seafood combo- The fried catfish is so fresh, I normally do not like fried seafood but the way the fish flakes and the softness is unexplainable. It melts in your mouth. Fries are crispy and thicc! I've tried almost all of the oysters there, but my favorite is the Mermaid Tears! Its super creamy and clean, and doesn't leave a strong sea-aftertaste. It just feels refreshing. It's worth trying out the other oysters if you love them. My "least" favorite would be the oyster that has a seaweed finish (Wellfleet New England) only because it was more on the "oceanic" side so it's a matter of preference, but I finished those as well. Tacos were great. The Gumbo Soup has a nice kick of pepper if you're into it. The crab claw appetizer is a nice small bite as you wait for the meals to come (it comes quick btw). On top of the amazing food, the service is amazing. I appreciate the attentiveness they have and how knowledgeable the front staff is with the oysters on their menu. I'm always hitting up Bellaire when I come and this place popped up when I searched. Small spot with counter seating only and run by husband and wife. Husband was running the bar and was so knowledgeable about all the oysters. Had fresh oysters and the best part was the grilled oysters! Now I've had some grilled oysters at other establishments and the oyster is usually dried out and drenched in topping to the point you don't even taste the oyster. This places grilled oysters were so juicy and the toppings just complimented the oyster's flavor, which that's what toppings should do. One of THE best grilled oysters I've had and on par with a small pop up shack along the 1 highway on the California coast. Shietz real here if you want some damn good oysters. read more
