I am an employee at the SeaTac airport, and I speak for most of us when I say that we were excited to have a 7-Eleven open in the baggage claim area. At first, they struggled with the huge number of customers who flooded in looking for snacks and beverages and at that time, they refused to sell any hot food items after 10:00 PM. They kept running out of food and the variety was very limited. It's been a few months now and they now offer a better variety of food 24 hours a day however, they don't seem to rotate the items in compliance with health department standards. I've gone in and seen some shriveled up hot dogs that look like they've been on the roller for days. They don't stock very many name brands as everything has been replaced with a 7-Eleven branded package and who knows where they source their inventory from. My biggest complaints about this location are that there are never enough employees working and the lines get very long. On top of that, their largest customer base are the people who are employed and work at the airport, and we all have to take our items through a security checkpoint, and all of our food goes into a tub and then through the x-ray scanner machine. This location started out using the 7-Eleven branded takeout containers for their hot food items like the clamshell boxes for the hot dogs and pizza slices but now they only offer cardboard boats. The kind that you get an order of fries in at the carnival. These do not go through the x-ray scanner very well and leave your food vulnerable to foreign objects or worse, getting tipped over and falling out. The employees don't seem to care about the customers which is quid pro quo for most 7-Eleven locations but since they are in the airport, they are charging you airport prices. I feel like that should come with some level of professionalism and respect, but what do I know? Most of the other retail and food establishments located at SeaTac airport offer us a 10% employee discount but not 7-Eleven, even though this location is owned by the same lady who owns all of the Hudson news locations at SeaTac. If you're in town visiting, I'd suggest walking a few blocks down to the other 7-Eleven on International BLVD. If you're traveling from Seattle and want snacks for the flight, they are a tiny bit less expensive than other convenience places on the other side of TSA. Just be prepared buy some generic alternative to what you really and and then wait in line for rude employees to check you out and argue with you if you need a refund or something doesn't ring up correctly. HORRIBLE 7-Eleven!!! While awaiting my flight, I walked to this establishment for some snacks and I paid with the 7-eleven scan and go mobile app. I showed the clerk my receipt as I started to exit the door and he started shaking his head and yelling "NO NO...that's not my system." Confused, I explained to him that I paid with the 7-eleven scan and go system and proceeded to show him the receipt. He became hostile and said "you'll just need to cancel that or something because that's not my system.". Long story short, I ended up CALLING 911 before I could resolve things to leave the establishment and even then, I ended up simply walking out the door...as the clerk STILL tried to get me to remain there!!! My daughter had purchased an item which was labeled $2.99 but was charged $12.99. I went back to the clerk to have the price adjusted or get a refund. He said he was unable to give me a refund because I used a credit card not cash. I was unable to return the product or get credit back on my card. It was very disappointing. This Seven-Eleven was a short walk, about half a block, from the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel Seattle Airport where I stayed one weekend last year. It was reasonably clean, well stocked, and the clerk was very friendly. Bonus - there were no transients or skanky peeps loitering about. I picked up some sodas and sugary treats to keep in my hotel room for those late night emergency munchy attacks. Not really a noteworthy experience I'll be telling stories about for years to come (like my experience at the 7-11 in Glen Burnie, MD where I saw a knife fight at 2 am and the clerk ordered us to duck behind the shelves for our safety while he called the cops :), but that is usually a good thing. To me 7-Elevens are always hit or miss. Sometimes you run into ones that have crappy service, selection, & attitudes. Or sometimes you run into ones that have their stuff together. This location is a pretty good one. It is right down the street from the aiport. I've never come in here & left without them having what I needed. The place always seemed cleaned & well maintained. Total dirtbag employee at 12:00 AM on 6/4/15 I tried to order a pizza and he refused. Said he was cleaning oven, but wasn't. I went back in and he wasn't cleaning anything. Then when I tried to buy other food, he tried to overcharge me by $3.00. When I challenged him, he got defensive and belligerent. Then he told me to come back in, and then made a threatening gesture. I come here occasionally when I need my smokes or perhaps a cool beverage. They have a nice selection of drinks to choose from, though I wish they carried the Bob Marley teas. They are to die for. It's a very nice day in the Kent area, so of course my slurpee senses start tingling. I always get the classic cherry with blue raspberry mixed in a Big Gulp because... that's just me. I dispensed the cherry first, and as I'm starting the blue raspberry, it looks a little more "green" than blue. At this point, I'm in full withdrawal-mode so pouring it out and starting over isn't an option. So, I fill up, take it to the register, pay, and leave. I'm not one to drink my slurpee while at the register (which is quite odd) so I hadn't tasted the "green" until we had already pulled off. It seems as though someone put BANANA flavored slurpee into the blue raspberry machine, and didn't think or care to fix the problem. Banana flavoring is quite strong and overpowers any other flavor you try to mask it with. So long story short, I'm disappointed. I realize 7-11s are franchised, meaning the standards may not be as high for this specific location, therefore I won't base my attitude about the company on this one bad taste left in my mouth. read more
