This coffee place has always been one that we've seen whenever we've driven out of town to go to SoCal and always said "we need to check this place out someday". Super glad that we finally did, I got a peppermint latte and the wife got a toffee latte. They even have locally made ice cream and the kids enjoyed chocolate brownie, and cookies and cream. The lattes were both great flavored and really well made with beans brewed from Old World Coffee (Reno) beans. Which is our favorite roaster in the area. Honestly with our travels out of state and internationally, we found that Old World has the best roasted beans around. There's plenty of space in the main part of the coffee shop and a side room with a community table and even an area for kids to play and read books. I wish we had a good coffee place like this in the Sparks area. This will definitely be a staple when we're in town.

One barista was friendly enough, but the other didn't seem very pleasant and appeared to be running late, rushing in just before my mom and I walked in. Not the welcoming I had hoped for. The bagel sandwiches were just as good as I remembered, but the coffee was just okay. The flavor was a little dull and tasted more like cream and sugar than coffee. The shop is still nice and clean, but it doesn't feel like the cozy place I usually look for in a small coffee shop. I'm definitely bummed because I visit this area from SoCal often, and this used to be one of my favorite spots.

They contacted me via email assuring me the order was cancelled, when my next delivery was due, and thanking me for my years of service. My guess is a negative Yelp review impacts them. I like their coffee. I like the fact some of the money goes to eye cancer research. But beware, you are on your own to handle subscriptions and shipments. The one real drawback is the building. The bakery and restaurant share a door with C.O.D. Casino next door. When that door opens, cigarette smoke comes into the dining and bakery area. The restroom is also on the casino side. That does not change the quality of the sandwiches or pastry, but it is noticeable and it is worth knowing before you sit down, especially if you are sensitive to smoke or bringing food out for a trip. My one friend described the filet she got as a "hockey puck"!!! He also made a point of telling me how you have to make enough of EVERYTHING for EVERYONE since you won't know what people will eat.
