Today's experience at 7 Brew was absolutely ridiculous. The drive-thru was a complete madhouse, with an extremely long line creating traffic congestion, frustration, and what felt like a dangerous situation for drivers trying to get in and out.
What made the situation even more frustrating was that walk-up ordering had been shut down. I took the time to navigate through all of the chaos, find a parking spot, and walk up to the stand so I could simply order my drinks and avoid contributing to the already backed-up drive-thru line. Instead, the manager on duty told me I had to get back in the drive-thru line and refused to take my order.
I was told that the manager had received approval from the regional manager to shut down walk-up ordering. If that is the case, I seriously question that decision. Why shut down an option that could actually help relieve some of the congestion in the drive-thru? Customers who are willing to park and walk up should have that option, especially when the drive-thru is creating this much chaos.
My biggest concern, though, is the location itself. Why is 7 Brew continuing to operate in locations that clearly cannot accommodate the volume of traffic their business generates? The three 7 Brew locations in the Hampton Roads, Virginia area seem to have the same issue -- poorly designed locations with drive-thru lines that spill into surrounding roads and create major traffic problems.
This isn't just an inconvenience anymore. When lines are backing up into roadways and surrounding traffic, it creates the potential for accidents, blocked traffic, and road rage.
And let's not overlook the employees. You are putting your own workers in harm's way by having them stand out in the parking lot directing traffic and trying to manage the chaos. They shouldn't have to put themselves at risk simply because the location cannot safely accommodate the volume of vehicles coming through.
It is also extremely inconsiderate to the other retail businesses sharing the same parking lot. Their customers should be able to access their businesses, park, and leave without having to navigate around a massive 7 Brew drive-thru line. Those businesses shouldn't have their parking lots and entrances congested because of a neighboring business that wasn't properly planned for the amount of traffic it generates.
I really hope 7 Brew corporate and the regional management team take a serious look at their Hampton Roads locations and how they are affecting surrounding traffic, employees, customers.
I love supporting local businesses, but today's experience was extremely disappointing. Turning away a customer who had already taken the initiative to park and walk up during an obvious traffic nightmare made absolutely no sense.
7 Brew needs to seriously rethink the locations they choose and how they manage traffic before someone gets hurt. read more
