I ate at this location in 2017, but I think it was a different restaurant? I thought it was named Ken and Sue's or something along those lines. I made a reservation for 5 p.m. and I am glad that I did. There were alot of people waiting at the door when we arrived. We were seated quickly, our server was extremely nice, friendly, quick and checked on us often enough that we were never waiting for another drink or next course. For an appetizer, we ordered the seared tuna, which came with a slaw, cucumbers, wasabi and ginger. The portion for the appetizer was quite large. It was extremely delicious. I recommend ordering this dish if you like tuna. We also ordered the chicken potstickers. The potstickers themselves were pretty tasty, but they were covered in a thick sweet sauce that overpowered the potstickers. I had to wipe the potstickers off and even then there was too much sauce. For dinner, I ordered the Saturday Special/Surf and Turf. It was an 8 oz filet mignon, with three large shrimps, mashed potatoes and spinach. Absolutely a large portion of food and was sooooo good. I really enjoyed my dinner. My partner ordered the grouper, with mashed sweet potato, and spinach. Also a great choice. so tasty! Last, we ordered the carrot cake. I love carrot cake and order it all the time. This restaurant served it with blueberries, blackberries, and strawberries as well as carrot chips, which were strips of carrot that had been crisped, and caramel sauce over the plate. It was all such an amazing mix of tastiness. The restaurant itself was a nice space with nice photographs/artwork on the walls. The booths gave a little more intimacy. The lighting was a bit dark but your eyes adjust. The bar is on one side of the restaurant with all of the booths/tables on the other side of the restaurant. it was a good use of space. I've been coming here for years and years and years. Always get the same main plate salad for dinner. They have recently stopped cooking a fresh chicken breast, and just add some cold precooked chicken instead. When I asked my server about she just said that's "how we do it now". When I told her I'd like a piece of hot chicken instead she said she didn't think she could do anything about it. I asked her to try. The manager came over looking very perplexed, and asked again what I would like them to do. I responded that I would like a fresh hot chicken breast. She then brought a plate and made a big production of scraping the old chicken onto the new plate in the middle of our dinner. A party near us had the lettuce wraps and it had a mound of those inedible styrofoam noodles. My seared tuna shareable plate was described as sushi grade ahi. It was not. Chewy, (think steak) No flavor to the tuna, there was a mound of "salad" on the plate with a non descript dressing. The plate was framed in a million cucumber slices that were also flavorless. The waitress was kind and observant, brought me a few dressing choices so that I could try to enjoy the dish, and she came to check on me. I sent the dish back. Went to 636 Main Ave for my birthday dinner and it didn't disappoint! Our reservation was at 8:30p but we arrived nearly 30 minutes early and they were able to get us seated. Our waiter, Connor, was amazing and made the experience memorable! We started with the Parker rolls, which were buttered perfectly and right out of the oven, and the wedge. The wedge was delicious with the added bacon and avocado and was easily shared. For dinner, we split the 24 oz porterhouse cooked rare and it was probably one of the best steaks we had for the price. To end the meall, we shared the crème brûlée. The custard was a smooth, silky consistency. Connor made it even more special by bringing it out with a candle and taking our picture and giving us a keepsake from the restaurant. Would give this place a solid four for cocktails, atmosphere and service which are all great but the menu is alittle conflicted and the food was good but not great. More so-so than anything else. First off the cocktails are amazing. Great Manhattan, martini's filled to the brim. Friendly bartenders. All GREAT in that department. Apple, baby lettuce, gorgonzola salad was fine, fresh. Well dressed - ample. But the ahi my son was served was not melt in your mouth tender. Not freshly seared and we've had better. We ordered bolognese and while the sauce was good it was watery when married to the pasta. Bolognese is supposed to come with a certain type of noodle that holds the sauce and this ended up kind of sliding off- loose water along the bottom of the plate. Flavors authentic and fresh but the meal was off. I ordered the potstickers and the server said they are good - made on premise. They were very doughy - dense - very little filling. I ate two and left the rest. This is my quibble with the place - is it a steakhouse, a place grilled fish to go along, Italian with pastas (chicken piccata looked great ..) salmon on plank looked amazing too. Or is it asian with seared ahi blackened with sesame and soy sauce or pot stickers. The menu is a little conflicted and for us, as a result, the food was ok but not great. Meh really. Would come for a burger at the bar with a good martini or some starters perhaps but not sure this is my go-to for dinner when back in town. Honestly, it started rough. We pulled up front and found parking was blocked for take out, so we went to hunt parking. The manager was rude about it. We parked and walked to the restaurant. We were a tad early. She asked us to wait outside while they prepared our table. There were four tables that appeared to be ready, but ok. Out We go. I made reservations in April. She put us at a table. I asked if we could have a booth. More attitude and a no. What was interesting was we sat across from the desk. Not one to go order in the 1.5 hours we were there. Also her method of decision was interesting. You have a child you can walk in without a reservation, two women - sure come on in early I've got you the perfect seat, but a man in the group was obviously a trigger. They were sent to the bar or turned away. I asked for the manager and she informed me she was the manager. How could she help? I said nevermind. The server was great. Pleasant, knowledgeable, timing, etc. Even after I heard the manager tell her we were going to be an issue. I had a glass of sauvingon blanc, we had the wedge and house salads (they are huge - split them). We had the potstickers - they were a little gummy and were way over flavored. Our entrees: the pistachio encrusted grouper in a vanilla sauce with sweet potatoes and spinach was really good. My husband enjoyed his tuna with sesame seeds over rice noodles with bok choy. It was light. We tried to enjoy the cheesecake but it was extremely thick. The texture wasn't right. And the oranges on the side did not compliment it at all. read more
