    Bolognese

Pasta was extremely dry. I got the bolognese and there was barely any sauce and the little there was dried up the pasta. Would've given it less stars, but the pasta itself was made very well. Just a bummer to see at dry pasta with barely any meat. Wanted to use my bread to soak up the sauce but there wasn't even enough to keep the pasta wet. Ordering experience was odd, having to walk up to the counter. Pretty pointless. Bread was good. Wine was awful. Definitely would not return. Salad was way overpriced.

Soooo good! Stopped on our way to Pagosa Springs and it was the perfect dinner. Brought our two dogs & sat on the patio. The pesto pasta was delicious.

The most amazing pesto pasta I've ever had in my life, and the pasta bolognese in the back.

We headed to Durango for our honeymoon, without realizing that reservations are SO important on weekends, and this tiny place caught our eye when all of the other restaurants were packed to the gills. We headed in to the counter-style service and put in our orders, along with a bottle of Barbera D'Asti to split as we enjoyed the sunshine during happy hour. The dishes came out pretty quickly and smelled delicious! I got the pesto pasta dish (it's no longer on their online menu since they switched to an Autumn menu) with thin slices of pancetta, and my husband got the Bolognese with local ground beef, and a red wine and cream sauce. Each dish came with a pillowy piece of focaccia bread that was garlicky and heavenly. I am not exaggerating when I tell you that this was one of the best Italian meals I've ever had in my entire life, hence only one picture since I didn't have the patience to wait to dig in. The homemade pasta was perfectly al dente, the sauce coated the noodles without drowning them, the bread was like eating a delicious cloud and the wine was an absolutely perfect pairing. The staff came around to refill our waters and see how we were enjoying the dishes, and were very helpful with recommendations while we ordered, suggesting different styles of noodles and describing the differences and most popular combinations. They have the noodles sitting in the glass case so you can see what the styles are before you make your selection. We had an amazing time and were shocked that this place wasn't overflowing with customers, seeing how delicious the food was. We went back twice more just to enjoy the patio, the happy hour wine and the delicious aromas.

Besides being super friendly, this place has amazing food. I had the Caco de Pepe, and (I can't remember the name of the salad!) we shared an arugula salad. The focaccia bread is perfect, we got a basket for the table. It comes with marinara that is authentic. Soooooo good, I will be back.

My meatball sandwich was underwhelming. The roll difficult to cut and the meatballs were extremely salty. I would never order this again.

what is there to say about this place?…read more i personally have never eaten anything here EXCEPT their bakery goods which were superb, best in town, hands down. Every morning they seem to have a wide selection of freshly baked pastries, good coffee, big smiles and a beautiful building. I have seen their breakfasts being delivered to tables and can say they look delicious but a big breakfast sends me straight back to bed... She took the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad to Silverton, but unfortunately I wasn't able to go because of a medical condition that prevents me from traveling to high altitudes, and the train climbs to around 10,000 feet. After she left on her adventure, I decided to find some breakfast. While I was walking around town, my aunt called. She and my uncle used to vacation in Ouray every year, so she knows the area well. She recommended Jean-Pierre Bakery, so that's where I headed. I was seated right away and ordered a coffee while I looked over the menu. My waitress was very friendly, and we chatted for a while. She even recommended a few places around town that I should check out. I finally decided on the Croque Monsieur (brioche, béchamel, ham, and Swiss cheese) served with a salad. When my meal arrived, it looked fantastic. The sandwich was delicious, rich, and full of flavor. It was my first time trying a Croque Monsieur, and I really enjoyed it. The salad was fresh and crisp, and the vinaigrette paired perfectly with it. After finishing my meal, I couldn't resist ordering a pistachio cream-filled éclair that had caught my eye when I first walked in. It looked beautiful, but unfortunately, it was a disappointment. The pastry was very dry, and the bottom was quite hard. It definitely didn't taste freshly made. The pistachio cream had a nice flavor, but there wasn't very much of it. I mentioned my concerns to my server, and she kindly brought me a chocolate éclair to try instead. It also looked wonderful, but it had the same problem. The pastry tasted old, almost like it had been sitting for a couple of days. I would absolutely return for another Croque Monsieur or to try something else from the breakfast or lunch menu because that part of the meal was excellent. As for the pastries, they certainly look beautiful, but based on my experience, I would probably pass on them next time. This would have been a solid 4 star if those eclair had of been good.

Maybe don't talk shit about the customer in Spanish, especially when it's a white boy that knows Spanish very well. Made me very uncomfortable. then up charged me and didn't just honor the mess up. One of the gentlemen was being nice and so I started talking in Spanish to him and so he was nice. Lady that checked me out, seemed to get mad at me for asking for another chip even though I got nachos and a naked burrito and they say it's free chips. I got two things, thought I would get two chips. It just was not respectful in any way, I hadn't been here before they knew that. But good way to have me not want to come back. Portions weren't impressive either. Food was good, but idk the way I was treated and spoken about right in front of my face was beyond disrespectful. And then to just up charge me still. Thank you to the First Gentleman that explained how it worked, and the gentleman that I spoke in Spanish with. However I'm probably Never coming back.

The fixed menu was good but there were some regular menu items I would have liked to try more that were not available. Btw, there were other families with kids there as well so we did not feel like we were crashing a couples night. My mushroom pasta was delicious but I would probably not order again, it was extremely mushroomy which is not what I usually go for. Still glad I tried it, as it wasore appealing than the other options. The caprese salad was my favorite, large portions and beautiful presentation. The caesar salad was well done and tasted homemade. My Italian old fashioned was *amazing*! The steak and mashed potatoes were cooked well. The included prosecco was a nice touch but I didn't drink it, it gives me a headache. There was a kids menu and they enjoyed their butter noodles. The dessert options were good, a bit uninspired: strawberry cannoli and blueberry cheesecake. As someone who typically detests cheesecake, this was excellent. Had less of that gross cream cheese texture I despise and more like a pound cake texture. Ambience was classy and they had lots of holiday decor and photo ops. Attentive service. Would go again.
