We just moved to Cary and immediately had HVAC and plumbing emergencies-- the owner Nick came out on a Saturday evening to do a temporary fix to the plumbing, we had our HVAC unfrozen, and they are now our go to company for HVAC and plumbing needs. From an actual person answering the phone and making sure someone comes out, to the many technicians we have worked with, to their recommendations for repairs, they are personal, professional, and skilled at what they do. Today Justin came out to work on our HVAC which had stopped working -- he knew exactly what was wrong and how to fix it -- and was personable and professional while he installed replacement parts. 6&Fix has left us high and dry. A company that merged with 6&Fix came to our home in January 2023 to do heating maintenance. We never received any invoice or summary of services for this visit, and it turns out that the air purifier in the upstairs unit had been broken and just left sitting in the attic. I do not remember the technician telling me this - it came as a complete shock when I found out today (we hired a new company who found this issue - see pics). Since then, a great amount of mold has built up in the unit and has been blowing onto my kids upstairs. And we had to pay $1700+ for a new air purifier. I contacted Nick at 6&Fix (left voicemails, wrote emails - spoke to him once and he confirmed he was looking into the issue) but have now just been met with silence. Additionally, during a separate diagnostic visit in May 2023 (the technician arrived reeking of cigarette smoke and alcohol and appeared to be extremely hungover) we also did not receive an invoice or pictures of any kind documenting the service. So - we're out $1700, mold was blowing into my kids' bedrooms, and the staff is entirely unprofessional. DO NOT RECOMMEND. read more

We purchased a Daikin HVAC system from 6 and Fix about a year ago, and I completed a review of our experience on their website. However, I can not find the review on-line so I am completing another review concerning our experience. We purchased a top of the line Diakin continuous flow system, and our system now seems to be working properly, but the purchasing and installation of the system was far from perfect. After discussing various systems with one of 6 and Fix's sales representatives, we finally decided which model and system we wanted. There were many options and we went over them and made our selections. When we finally got a Price Quote, it consisted of the general system description along with a price for the system and installation - none of the specifics like selecting a Daikin ONE Smart WiFi Thermostat. It took 2-3 iterations to finally get the specifics and it was a good thing that we had the detailed paperwork because as the installation was nearing completion, the installers weren't going to put the high-end thermostat as part of hat we purchased. It took a couple of phone calls to finally get things straightened out. That was the first small issue in the install. The system was activated and cooled our house the first evening, however, we noticed a bad odor in the house and called 6 and Fix concerning it. A service tech came to the house and spent about 45 minutes inspecting the system and said that he couldn't find anything wrong. The following evening, the smell got worse and we called again, and we got the same diagnosis. The next day the odor was even more extreme, and my wife called the gas company and they arrived within an hour, and within 15 minutes shut the gas off to our house, and RED TAGGED our new HVAC system. Late that afternoon the Service Manager came to our house and finally found the gas leak. Thankfully, there was no explosion or residue from the experience, but my thoughts were that the company name should have been 6 and Fix and fix and fix and fix. read more

Called due to a loss of heat in my home. They arrived quickly and were able to successfully diagnose the problem. They worked with Carrier to replace the part within warranty coverage. Patti was super helpful in that regard. They were able to source the part the same day the warranty coverage was sorted and scheduled the install for the following day. I have been a loyal 6 & Fix customer since 2013, when I bought their top-of-the-line system. I pay them yearly to maintain their system. They used to be called "Green Country Service" but have since changed their name to "6 & Fix," promising same day service in their name, logo, and phone service recording. Unfortunately, they are not the same company I have depended on over the years. Past service calls have not been same day (even as I listen to the recording saying otherwise). Now, their system is leaking water into my attic. They have attempted to "Fix" this issue in the past but yet it persists. Today they said it will be three days before they will call. This is disappointing for a company that used to appreciate customer loyalty. I will shop for an alternative, but meanwhile water continues to leak in my attic. ... UPDATE [2022-12-24]: I placed another call to 6 and Fix and spoke with a different rep who said the previous rep was "new" and did not properly handle the situation. A technician was dispatched and at my home within two hours. Increasing this review from one star to two stars. To be continued... UPDATE [2022-12-29]: The technician on 12-24 took pictures and gathered information and said someone will contact me on Tuesday, 12-27, with a plan to fix the leak. Two days later, I'm still waiting on a call and looking for a reason to stick with 6 & Fix... UPDATE [2023-01-03]: 6 & Fix worked on the unit and sealed the duct in the area of the leak. 6 & Fix Services - Water leak in the attic from a "6 & Fix" system. I was told they could see me in 3 days - Heating & Air Conditioning/HVAC Near Me - Raleigh, North Carolina

Stay away from this predatory business. Two weeks ago one of my AC units stopped working. Someone from 6andFix came to service it for $900, but said that the system needed to be replaced given a leaking evaporator coil and the overall age of the unit. The following day a supervisor / sales person visited to quote for a replacement unit. Here's what you should expect: 1. They will not schedule an install without a deposit, which is NOT REFUNDABLE. The deposit, in my experience, was entirely arbitrary, i.e. did not explicitly need to be some minimum amount to cover permits, equipment, etc. When I cancelled my install less than 24 hours after leaving the deposit they decided to keep the whole, arbitrary value, which I was encouraged to make $1,500. 2. You will hear a lengthy sales pitch about how refrigerant always leaks, is expensive, and you're better off paying for it up-front as part of their "Bumper-to-bumper" warranty plan. This doesn't transfer with sale of the home and makes the total install more expensive. 3. You will see "Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze" tiers to guilt you into paying for the "superior", more expensive units that are probably more efficient than you need. If you consider a competing, more affordable offer, it will be implied you're getting a sub-standard unit. 4. The pricing is not transparent whatsoever, and if you ask for an itemized breakdown of the cost the sales person cannot give it to you because it is sent in by corporate electronically. The $500 I spent refilling the refrigerant of the to-be-replaced unit was supposed to be credited towards the new unit, but when we asked for where this was factored in we were given a vague answer. Feels to me it fell through the cracks between the technician and sales person. 5. They will only try to sell you a single, lesser-known brand of AC units because it's what they already have in stock in bulk, and because of the 12-year warranty that comes with it. Only after trying to cancel did they offer other brands. 6. Their preferred brand of unit does not work with third party smart thermostats, meaning I would have had to shelf my Nest Learning Thermostat. We found another unit for almost half what 6andFix was quoting us, but they're still trying to keep my $1,500 deposit. Sales person lied to me when I asked if it was refundable, said I only needed to cancel more than 24 hours before the installation date, which I did. Beware. read more

They charged me $1100 for 1.5 hours of labor as all of the parts on my new AC unit were under warranty. The Coleman unit and warranty had already come with the house when we purchased it, all we had to do was keep up with the yearly warranty payments. Fine, we kept up with it and it covered our unit decently well, but in the two years we've owned the house, the compressor has gone out 4 times. FOUR TIMES IN TWO YEARS! The first two times they had the part orders and fixed within the week. The last two times have been a train wreck, we've currently been without AC for OVER A MONTH as they have not been able to get a new compressor because it had to be manufactured. At this point we are wanting to discuss with management how to use the manufacturers warranty to get a whole new unit as we should not have needed a new compressor this often. We have called and no one from management is able to give us a call back. No one in the office is able to give us a number or email for the manager so we are helplessly waiting for them to respond to us. The office employees are able to take messages, but other than that there is no follow up for returning phone calls. I get attitude when I call to check on the status, when I call to see if the manager is in, when I ask for transparency regarding the repair. I would not recommend this company. read more

Our A/C went out on Memorial Day weekend and we've called several companies and 6 & Fix was the quickest to respond. They were very informative on their arrival time and even had a map with ETA that they sent us. Patrick, the technician, was very helpful and informative and explained to me what he was fixing and then had a summary of the report with suggestions at the end of his visit. Dani, the woman on the phone, was very helpful and nice too. Great experience from start to finish. Will definitely call this company again next time something happens to our HVAC. Tip: find a HVAC specialist when you're thinking of purchase a house to make sure the HVAC in the house is good. We worked with a home inspector and they did not catch half of the things that were supposed to be fixed prior to purchasing our home. read more

Had a scheduled appointment for today 10 - 12. It is for a commercial property (clubhouse) HVAC in an HOA. Have used the company for years & they have detailed instructions on how to gain access to the interior of the building & all of the areas that they need access to with keys in a lockbox on the wall in the front of the clubhouse. They have been provided my personal cell phone # and told if the technician has any issues they can call my cell phone & I will talk them through what and where everything is. I pulled up the cameras at the property and watched the technician who was parked in the parking lot for about an hour. I get a call from someone in the office stating that no one was at the property to let the technician in. I told them that no one has been there every time in the past &, again, gave the person in the office detailed instructions on how to get in the building and where everything is located. I told them the technician could call my cell phone & I could tell them directly. They wouldn't allow that and they would pass along the information. After a while, I get a call from the office stating that the technician was having "issues" & couldn't get in the building & they would have to re-schedule the appointment to send another technician out to the property next week. I asked what "issues" the technician was having & was it something at the property that was the issue that I would need to send a contractor out to get fixed. They said there was nothing wrong at the property, but they just needed to re-schedule & would prefer that I be at the property to let them in. I said I didn't understand what the issue was and why he couldn't get in & me having to be there kind of defeats the purpose of having a key lock box & the office person just kept talking over me & said it didn't matter & they just needed to re-schedule. I said that there has never been this issue before & she just kept talking over me stating they needed to re-schedule. I hung up. I called back & asked to speak to a specific person in the office that I had dealt with in the past & they would not let me speak to them. I then asked to speak to the office manager, and the office person just said (in a snarky tone) "she is just going to re-schedule you". I said I wanted to speak with them anyway. I told the office manager the issue & she said that the technician was older & was having issues figuring out how to get in the building & where everything is & they would need to send another person out there that could figure out how to get in & access everything they needed to. I asked why the technician didn't call me & they said they are told not to as they don't want their customers to have their phone numbers & calling their technicians. (I guess they haven't figured out that you can block your phone number from being displayed when you call someone on a cell phone. Guess this technician is not capable of that if he isn't capable of using a key to get into a locked door either...) They re-scheduled the visit to next week. It's a little disturbing that a repair technician can't figure out out to put a 4 digit code in a lock box, open the door, take the keys out, scan a fob in front of a scanner right at the door, turn the door handle, & push open the front door of a building to go inside AND it took him an hour to figure this out... This person is supposed to be able to check & service and HVAC systems??? Makes me wonder what they are not telling me or why he is working for them if he is not capable of a basic task like this... Pay over $200 for their annual advantage service plan & this is the type of service they now provide? How will I know if the technicians they now use are actually capable of and doing the job that they are being paid to? Up until now most of the service with this company has been okay. Not sure what is going on with them now or who they are using as technicians..... Maybe need to start looking at changing companies.... read more

Got a 6K estimate from them. There was frost on exterior unit. Got it fixed next day WITH A REPUTABLE COMPANY for $299. It needed 2# of "freon." Everything else checked out. Had a THIRD company come out to do maintenance & see if anything was wrong. Nothing was wrong. Unit checked out well. THEN I CONFESSED to #3 that we wanted one more opinion. Told the tech about 6 & Fix, then told him about the 2#'s of "freon." Both companies, 2 & 3, said you really cannot properly test a system when the freon was 2#'s low. 6 & Fix never suggested to do that first. THEN THE KICKER: Company #3 told me, in a candid conversation, that 6 & Fix techs are PAID BY COMMISSION. So is ARS (a company we ditched years ago).... PAID BY COMMISSION. PAID BY COMMISSION. If you are looking for an honest evaluation, DO NOT USE 6 & Fix. Our system is only 4 years old & they suggested a fix that would fix imaginary problems, at the price of a whole new system. Look I try to give people/companies the benefit of the doubt but I got fooled three times. TLDR Version: The AC is 3 years old. Two times techs came out saying they had placed an order for parts and that the company would call. Two times they did not. The third time for a different part, the order actually got placed. Took 12 days to come in during which the entire time no ETA was given and I was without AC the entire time. Got a second opinion from another company and the part ordered wasn't even needed. The issue was misdiagnosed. Zero communication from the company about the complaint. See the full version below: August of 2020: I had a new HVAC system installed. All seemed great. Like others on here, I was sold a 10-year warranty with no discussion of a yearly membership fee to keep it up. I figured that was just a hard lesson for a first-time homebuyer who didn't know the correct questions to ask or what was normal. A few months went on and I started getting a sensor warning. I had multiple techs check it out between 2021 and 2022. They were able to band-aid it multiple times, but within a few months, it would be back on again. TWICE I had techs tell me they were ordering a part for it during the visits and twice like an idiot I believed them. Zero contact from the company after their visits. No parts ever arrived. Finally, another Tech came out in March of 2023 and said he would fix it so that the sensor warning would never happen again. He did so without a part and I never saw that warning again. In June of 2023 the AC completely stopped pumping cold air and just the fan was running. This happened late Sunday night so I called Monday and they got another Tech out there quickly. (they are great at sending techs but nothing ever seems to happen after the Techs "place their orders".) He took a look at it and said I needed a different part (this was a different issue from the sensor). I told him about my previous experiences around part requests going unfilled and he seemed to really care. Well my membership was up for renewal so I signed back up for it to be safe and he said Customer Service would have to call me, so I figured this way I could at least get a contact to track that the part had been ordered too. Cut to 10 days later with no air, no part, and no ETA for one. I had to follow up with them and the Customer Service rep finally realized that I was starting to feel scammed after the third time of trusting a parts order so he did a good job of keeping me in the loop as best he could with limited information. Nervous I was being taken advantage of I got a second opinion. On day 10 of no AC in the summer another company came in, simply cleared the line and it immediately started blowing cold air and hasn't stopped since... NO PART WAS EVEN NEEDED. I called 6&fix immediately and asked for a refund for just the membership and not the service fee I also paid because that fee was definitely warranted as they did come to check on the unit. I was told a supervisor would call me... No Call ever came. I reached out on their online customer service page as well which assured me they would be in contact... no call ever came. I paid $140 for the Tech to come out and an additional ~$260 for the membership for a wrong diagnosis, no part, and 10 days with out AC in summer. I'd like the membership refunded as I will no longer be using their company and I signed up believing parts were necessary to the fix. I was naive to stick with them this long. Others seem to have good experiences, so maybe there is something wrong in the system IDK, but I will never trust or use this company again. read more

I called a different company to look at it and they fixed it for $300. I was going to fight the diagnostic fee but I don't want to talk to this company again and I recommend you not use them either. read more

I am selling my house and my buyers contacted this company to do an inspection on my HVAC. Per that inspection the gas to my home was shut off because of a hole that was found in the HVAC unit. I was told by Jenna that other issues were also found but because the buyers had not yet paid for the inspection those items could not be disclosed yet. At that time I asked for a quote to get the issues fixed. I was told that it would cost more to fix and I should replace it. I arranged to have someone here for the install on Thursday of last week. I noticed that the invoice had included a smart thermostat from Honeywell but I already have a smart thermostat from NEST. When I asked to have that taken off it was handled. I was however questioning why that even happened in the first place since it was obvious that I didn't need one nor did I ask for one. I also noticed the aroma of gas in my home after the HVAC install. On Saturday it had not gone away and I was feeling light headed. I called the company and was told someone would be here between 2 and 6. The tech showed up closer to 6:30 and was here for almost two hours. He was able to fix one gas leak and said someone else would have to come back tomorrow to fix the rest. The next day a different tech came out and was here for over three hours fixing gas leaks. He left around 2:00 approx. and said that all was fixed. I was feeling light headed still and my kids were also so we left the house. At 8 pm we retuned to the house and noticed a heavy gas smell again. None of the detectors that the company installed in my walls gave any alerts. My neighbor brought over her gas/CM detector and it read a reading of 232 GAS. We were all alarmed and terrified to say the least. We left the house immediately and I called the fire department. They cut of the gas and found another leak. We were not able to stay in the home so we evacuated for the night. The fire department told me that I should look into a different HVAC company since this work has been such a safety issue. Today I took off work so that Dominion could come to check and also to have the 6 and Fix company back out. Dominion said all is well from the meter to the street and that I needed to check with HVAC company. 6 and Fix sent someone out at 10 am and he fixed the leak. He was gone by 12:30 ish. I am now waiting to be sure the smell of gas does not return. Everyone I have spoken to at the company has been extremely nice and I'm thankful for that, minus some "mansplaining" from John where he made the analogy of taking a car to a mechanic and said HVAC is similar...other things can happen and it's not their fault." I am very displeased with the quality of living my kids and I have had since this company came to my address. I had no prior issues with gas in my home. I also now understand that not all of the issues that 6 and Fix found in the buyers inspection (apparently there was something with the upstairs unit- but not gas related) were addressed and not fixed even though I had inquired wanting it all fixed. I have paid close to $7,000 for this service. I was quoted over $1000 less from others but chose this company because it was my buyer's realtor was good friends with the owner of this company. My kids and I were displaced, I have taken time off of work and we have been breathing in gas for days. As you know, gas is a dangerous and scary thing to have to deal with. I am a single mom of three and my anxiety level has been through the roof since through all this. The safety of my kids and my home is my top priority. Apparently John said the owner would contact me but he never did. Bottom line, this is a shady company who I can not recommend. My thermostat and HVAC system was cycling on and off. I called these guys and the only good thing I can say about this company is they arrived on the same day I called. They found that the condensation tube that goes from the attic to the outside was clogged up. They used compressed are to unclog the pipe and there was a lot of stuff cleared out. They were here about an hour and charged me over $400 dollars for that I feel ripped off. They shouldn't be charging as much as a brain surgeon. I won't be calling them again. read more

Very disappointed in this company now. Used to be a better company. Our air was out for a month on a 2 year old unit. (Second time in two years it has broken.) Installation error is what the tech told us. Was told the part was on back order and that they couldn't find the part. I found the part(after a month) by calling the manufacturer. The part was not on back order, nor had it ever been on back order, as we were told. No one had thought to call them. I was hung up on more than once and there was no attempt to call back. I also would call and they wouldn't answer the phone if they saw my number. It took my husband finally blowing up at them to get them to call us back. They still didn't look for the part. I was also told by the original tech that the original owner was dead, which come to find out he is not! Wow, that's low. It's very sad this company has become so unreliable. read more

This was the third HVAC repair company I had service a residential central system. These guys were fast and effective. Their technician was able to get to me the same day of the call. He was unafraid of my unit, which is kinda of a buggy model w/too many electronics. Nonetheless, the tech was logical and patient. Whenever he needed to, he called colleagues for input (i.e., he was humble and was focused on the result above all else). The tech worked until well past 8 PM and was clearly committed to getting this done correctly. For context, this was the third HVAC repair shop I had called out over the years to service this same unit. 6 & Fix nailed it on the first visit. read more

Pros - yes they arrived same day when called before six and yes, they defrosted what was frozen and got the unit cooling again. Cons - the CORE symptom was addressed but the problem that caused the freeze was not actually found until I called someone else to come take a look on the following Monday. My instinct was to seek someone else's opinion given that they also gave me several other things that they saw that needed repair or 'preventative' work to avoid more problems. When the other company came in (recommended by the neighborhood), they found the real issue and removed it, fixed several other items that were contributing, cleaned the outside unit and told me I didn't actually need any of those other 'preventative' repairs, and charged me a LOT less money. Bottom line, get established with a recommended company that you can call, and don't go with these guys unless you just cannot wait for someone else to show up. read more

I was given two estimates for a repair. The minimum estimate to get my system working was $1947 including tax. It was $579 to clean the coils, $911 to replace the fan motor, and $321 for up to 2 pounds of refrigerant. The full estimate to repair was $6519 with tax. It included the coil cleaning, fan motor, $549 to replace the drain pan, $3647 to replace the evaporator coil, $125 for a safety switch, and $252 for the contactor. I had coil cleaner in my garage, bought the motor from Grainger for $130 including tax and installed it myself. That got my system working again. Then I paid another company to come out and check the refrigerant and was told it is not low. I can't recommend that anyone call this company, the costs from them for a repair were ridiculous. read more

I have delayed this review by several months. It's important that potential customers have my experience with 6 and Fix, Raleigh, NC. We bought our house in September 2020. In May 2021 our upstairs HVAC stopped blowing cool air. I went outside to look at the HVAC and noted that it was newish and put in by 6 and Fix. I called them 5/26/21 and spoke with a woman who noted that the HVAC was bought by the previous owners 11/11/16 and so it was still covered by the 6 and Fix 10-year warranty, which I was very happy to hear. She said she could send a technician on 5/27 and that there would be a $95 fee, but that all other parts and labor would be covered by the warranty. When the technician came, he said that he did not know about the transferring warranty. He said he saw a hole in the evaporator coil and that we needed a new coil, and that in fact he actually recommended installing a new HVAC, even though it was less than 5 years old. We asked him to give us an estimate and options and to confirm that our warranty was transferred, as we had been told by his home office. Later that day the technician emailed us 2 estimates for future work. Option 1 was a "Temporary" fix that would cost $733.16, and included a "rejuvenation" cleaning and more refrigerant. Option 2 was the rejuvenation plus replacement of evaporator coil, and it would cost $3,746.95! I called the office and inquired about our transferred warranty. I eventually spoke with the head of customer service, Emily, who confirmed that the warranty would transfer to us after I spoke with the head of warranty, Rob Back, though there would be a modest transfer fee. I was feeling relieved on hearing this. But I was saddened to hear for Rob Back when he called me back that in fact the warranty could not be transferred to us because we had not called to transfer the warranty within 3 months of our closing on the house in September 2020. I of course noted to him that their head of customer service reiterated that the transfer would happen. This, it seems to me, is a sort of bait and switch. The previous owners bought a system with a 10-year transferrable warranty, but through the small type and red tape it would not transfer. My question is, what new home owner would call each of the installers of various appliances that might be under warranty to "transfer" them--your HVAC, refrigerator, dishwasher, hot water heater, home alarm system, etc.? Everyone knows, including 6 and Fix, that will not happen. If the HVAC was purchased with a 10-year warranty the company should honor that, period. Bad business. Mr. Back said he would look into getting the warranty transferred after all and he would call me back Monday. No surprise, he didn't call back. The kicker is that we then called an HVAC company we had used is the past, J W Ultra Air. They came right out. I showed the technician the estimate from 6 and Fix for replacing the coil with the hole in it for $3,746. He checked everything in the HVAC system and told me that in fact there was no hole in the coil, which he checked carefully. He checked the entire system and the only thing needed was some refrigerant. The total bill was $255! And it has been working perfectly for 5 months. I strongly advise you to try a company like J W Ultra Air or Boer Brothers in Carrboro or Durham, who have also done great work for us in the past. If you do try 6 and Fix, please get a second opinion. (I read in another review that the 6 and Fix technicians are paid on commission. If that is true, and I don't know that is, it would at least provide some motivation for charging for work and parts that aren't needed.) read more
