Another great experience with Joseph Rose Plumbing. Water started bubbling up from underneath our lawn right behind the city meter. After the city came and turned off the water, I called Joseph Rose Plumbing at about 3 pm and they arrived about 4 pm. They dug up a small area where the leak had been and found that a pipe from our lawn irrigation system had failed. They fixed the problem, filled in the hole, and we had our water back on in a few hours. They took a situation that could have been a major headache and turned it into a hiccup for us. We hired Joseph Rose Plumbing to replace our hot and cold water valves under our kitchen sink and to adjust our water pressure in our home. At the time, we also need a new water heater and asked them to give us an estimate for a new gas tankless water system while they were here. The two guys who showed up to do the work, were very professional, thorough and efficiant. The work that we hired them for was excellent and the cost to do this work was excellent - they were here for a couple of hours to complete the work and give us an estimate and charged us only $265. Another plumbing (Brown Brothers) company we hired to to adjust our water pressure (ONLY) a 7 months ago - were here for only 15-minutes and lowered our high water pressure way too low, charged us almost $500 - and it took them 7 months to bill us. Do not hesitate to hire Joseph Rose Plumbing for your work at your home. Also, I would like to add that the Joseph Rose technicians took pictures of ALL the work they did - before and after - and these were all included in their emailed invoice. That said, while Joseph Rose's estimate for a new gas tankless system came in a couple of thousand dollars LESS than the lowest estimate we recieved from other companies, we were very nervous about hiring them for this particular work because they didn't mention anything about pulling a city permit for the work. At the end of our discussion - the guy told us that they don't pull permits - this is the responsibility of the homeowner. He said you want us to pull a city permit for the work, it would cost $500, but a permit isn't required (for new installs and like-like-replacements). At the time I didn't realize that a city permit only costs $65 and the this work 100% requires a permit to be pulled. I found this out when I emailed Durham City inspectors to inquire. When I emailed Joseph Rose Plumbing why we were not hiring them for this job, they responded with "We install lots of gas tankless water heaters without pulling permits". Ethan did respond to my email to let me know that his office manager was new/still learning and misunderstood. If you are having plumbing work that requires a city permit - look elsewhere, none of the three other companies who gave us estimates required the customer to pull their own city permit for the work - let alone charge $500 if you wanted them to pull a permit. The $65 permit fee was worked into all other estimate invoices - we never even saw the fee. read more

I contacted Joseph Rose plumbing in Durham, North Carolina about three plumbing problems I was having. They scheduled to come by my house at 1 PM on Monday. By about 1:45 they had not arrived. I called the company, but no one answered. I left a phone message. I was called back in a couple of hours and, and the secretary/scheduler informed me that the job they were on was taking longer than expected. She then asked me if they could reschedule for tomorrow. I stated that that was not convenient for me. I finally relented and agreed to meet them on Tuesday. If I recall, the one technician was about 30-45 minutes late. She informed me that she had not been told about fixing the lack of shower hot water or about cleaning the mold out of our faucets but had only been told about cleaning the water heater! She arrived and started to flush the water heater. She then informed me that her new water pump that she needed for that job was defective and kept tripping the circuit breaker. She asked me if she could come back the next day at 8:30 AM! This was early for me in terms of usually sleeping longer, but I agreed in order to get the ordeal finished. She came with a young helper, and they completed the work. Rose appeared to be competent and, furthermore, she communicated well with me which was an appreciated change from her handler/scheduler. She and I talked about the benefit of the whole house water filter. She stated that she would get some information and send a proposal. That never happened. As you can gather, there are two significant problems with Joseph Rose plumbing, according to my experience with them. One is the absence of adequate and efficient communication, and the other is a lack of follow-up on what they say they will do. read more

He really made the entire process from start to finish east to follow and helped provide tips and tricks to make the life of my water heater last longer. He also helped me with the lining beneath the water heater to prevent water from seeping into my walls. Back story: my old water heater started leaking and I noticed that there was also mold starting to grow around my water heater on the wall. Excellent same day service. My well pressure tank switch went out and pipes froze leaving me with no water on Christmas. 2 weeks ago we decided to FINALLY add a new fridge water line, and got a few quotes and recommendations. Joseph Rose responded to my quote request online quickly, and we schedule a stop by for a quote for our project. Though there was a small miscommunication as to when they were able to come out - it ended up fine and they were able to come out the next day. They quickly looked at our layout, laid out the options, and sent along a quote a few hours later. They ended up having the best and very reasonable quote, and the quickest response time so we easily accepted the quote online and scheduled a time to come out which ended up being just a few days later. I also liked that they texted to keep us up to date as to when their technicians would be out etc. They did come about an hour past the scheduled time, but in these scenarios I know appointments can run long and it's sometimes hard to be exact so that didn't bother us and I think is pretty par for the course. The guy came in, was friendly, considerate, communicated well, and got the new water line added (which involved drilling a few holes, and uninstalling and reinstalling our dishwasher) quickly, efficiently and left no trace of dust/debris when done. Even moved our fridge and hooked it up and tested it. It's been a few days and the water line is great, no issues, AND they warranty their work for a year, so i'm not worried if on the off chance something needs to be adjusted. When our shower head pipe broke off behind the wall, we got no answer and no callback for days from two previously trusted plumbers. Then I found Joseph Rose's great reviews online. I was shocked when someone picked up the phone late on a Saturday afternoon and scheduled a plumber for that Tuesday. (It wasn't an emergency.) Ethan was able to fix the problem in less than 1/2 hour without cutting into the wall, which we had expected. He also added some missing caulking and even replaced our shower head with one he had in his truck, all within the one-hour labor cost. And he couldn't have been more pleasant or helpful. Note: We did have to wait 4 hours from the scheduled arrival time, but he called to tell us he had an emergency job and asked if we wanted him to show up in the evening or the next day. We chose the evening. Of course, we weren't happy about the extra wait. But afterwards, we realized we'd rather wait a few hours for an excellent plumber who responds quickly to emergency calls.
