$8 olive appetizer and $12 hot dog? Laughable!
    Opal D.

They have a $12 hot dog on the menu. I've gotten better sandwiches at the deli near my office, and I've had better queso fundito at many Mexican restaurants, all for a fraction of the price that they charge here. Don't let the fancy names and descriptions fool you, the food that comes out looks and tastes "basic". I live in Seattle-proper so I don't get sticker shock often, and I found the prices at 56 Degrees obscene. Service was excellent, the staff were attentive and refilled our ice waters and hot water for tea frequently. While 56 Degrees is a convenient and comfortable place to get drinks and enjoy the view if you are at the lodge already, I urge you to stay away from the overpriced bad food. Get a room with a kitchen and make your own or drive into Roslyn for a diner or café (they have many).

Staying at the hotel, so me and my family ordered to go. The food was okay, the cod from the fish and chips was dry and the scampi was not as saucy and flavorful as one would expect for the price...

Not sure if my review should be for this or Portals. My husband and I have come to Suncadia many times for retreats with our church. We've come twice during COVID restrictions just the two of us and wanted to grab dinner after hanging around the area and being down by the river, where we one time saw deer crossing it! They seemed to be doing well in terms of COVID precautions and had plexiglass up early on and prepackaged utensils, etc. we ordered the half oven baked chicken and hangar steak and it was so delicious! We went back this weekend though and I looked for those two items on the menu but they didn't have it. Instead, we ordered a chicken sandwich and at first I didn't want to even try a bite of that since I thought it wasn't going to be a piece of fried chicken and I'm not as into chicken sandwiches but I'm glad I did since it was so tender! I ordered their burger and it was also really good. There is a lovely view next to the restaurant and can be a bit windy outside.

    Wish Poosh Prime Rib Dip
    Cooper A.

Looking at the menu, my eyes went immediately to the Prime Rib Dip. Roasted prime rib, caramelized onions, aged white cheddar, au jus, and horseradish on a buttery crispy bread and then topped off with the most seasoned, crispy fries. To complete my total food-gasim I had a smooth and tasty Manny's draft beer. The service was outstanding and even though it was a little pricy, the quality and quantity of food served was well worth the splurge. The view overlooking a field of trees and rolling hills just added that little je ne sais quoi to put a perfect end to a lovely day.

2pm hit, and I was hungry. The main restaurant (Portals) was closed, so I headed to 56 Degrees instead. I'd peeked online before settling on 56 Degrees, and their signature Elk burger (Elk patty, chipotle BBQ sauce, bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion straws, cheese, brioche) sold me on eating there. Unfortunately, when I ordered I was told that that item was no longer on the menu and that they were sorry that they haven't updated the website yet. Bummer. Instead, I settled on the 'Double Cheese' Burger (beef patty, Beecher's Flagship & No Woman cheeses, lettuce, tomato, onion, bistro sauce, brioche) . The kindly server (great service here!) asked me how I wanted it cooked so I said medium rare. It took about 20 minutes for the meal to arrive but that was fine as I was enjoying the gorgeous mountain view out the back window. When the burger arrived, it looked delicious. Truth be told, it ended up being just average. The patty was cooked not medium rare but within an inch of its life. Not just well done, but very, very well done. It took away from the overall flavor of the burger because most of what I tasted was burnt, charred ruins and the dry meat sucked all the moist flavor out of the otherwise tasty burger fixin's. The Double Cheese, while a great idea in theory, seemed to blend into the background - and I love Beecher's cheese. I think I just made a bad menu choice here.

A brewery, not on my radar? Could it be possible?... Well, as I'm learning my way around the PNW, I'm finding all kinds of gems, that my sometimes messed up radar didn't pick up. Lol The kicker was having the best pastrami Sando ever, at the Red Bird Cafe, along with a great selection of beers, there was Roslyn Brewery! Of course, ya gotta know the choice I made to drink with my yummy sando? Roslyn brewery Brookside Pale Lager, cool and crisp with tasty Lager flavors.. pale Lager? You might ask? Didn't you mean Pale Ale? So I was thinking as well, but nope, they make a pale lager, very well to boot. So, of course by this time, I'm hoping on Yelp search for this Roslyn Brewery... What!! It just a hop, skip, and a jump from the Red Bird Cafe, so being the beer adventurer I am, I made the hop, skip, and a very excited jump over to Roslyn Brewing, another sweet little place in Roslyn, small inside, but a big area for outside sitting, but definitely at a balmy 30 degrees, it was close quarters at the bar. Great atmosphere, friendly service, just pouring beers.. although they have a great cider menu and wines.. it was definitely a beer drinking crowd. Next time I'll definitely try some of the tasty looking cider choices they offer. Of course, loving the red, I tried the Red Lager.. Yum! I wish they had it in cans.. I would have taken a bunch home. I also tried the Bullfrog IPA, delicious, as well.. a little darker than most IPAs I've had, but full flavor, not over hoppy. I also took a bottle of each of the Pale Lager and a Dark Lager, looking forward to trying them at home as well as return visits to Roslyn and Roslyn brewery. Well worth the beautiful drive over Snoqualmie Pass. Happy Yelping, God bless and a big Cheers!

This is a great spot located in the heart of Cle Elum! They have a food truck on site, which we unfortunately were not able to try because they had closed a bit early. Luckily, they had a number of sandwich and salad options. Our group enjoyed the Cuban, the chicken pesto, the Roslyn Rider, and a Caesar salad, which had some of the best croutons we've had in sometime! Another notable find was the snack mix... Not something that you would normally gush about, but this was filled with all of the best things the world has to offer Cheetos, bugles, Cheez-Its, and pretzels. If the Gardetto rye chips were in this, your head might just explode. For a relatively small outfit, the service here was very fast as they pumped out all of our food in about 10 minutes. There is ample indoor seating, and a lot of outdoor seating, which is shaded, and all of which is lovely! They've got a nice area with cornhole and some other games to play. They also have board games available inside. The only thing they are lacking is a big grassy area kids can go run around, but the asphalt worked just fine this spring day. We very much enjoyed our time here and will likely be back!

In fact, the wait staff was aloof almost to the point of being rude. We felt like we had crashed someone else's party and we weren't welcome! The food itself was not worth the money. We had the Parmesan garlic wings, and some potato dish, and the tamales, The wings were ok - nothing to write home about tho - but the potatoes, they were dry and a bit burn flavoured, and definitely not worth the price! The tamales were edible, but the refried beans and Spanish rice were awful (himself NEVER leaves food and he left this). I got a margarita and it was horrible too (how do you get a margarita wrong!) We felt like we had been robbed by the time we left! As for the tables and chairs, the table was wobbly and the chairs were so miserable to sit in, it was clear they didn't want you to stay long. Lastly, it was cold in the restaurant in general. Not an experience we want to have again!!

We buy wine from Kristi annually on our trip to this area and were delighted that she took over the space where a terrible excuse for a restaurant used to be housed. She has transformed an old space into one of the best hangouts in town with a bar that serves wine and beer and couches and tables to relax among the bottles of wine. The walls are the original brick and are adorned with tasteful local art. Pick a bottle off the shelves and enjoy it there for a $5 corkage fee. She has an excellent taplist but an even more impressive beer cooler. I was more than a little astonished to find my favorite beer from Portland (a seasonal) on the shelves. She also has some rare finds from California. With Kristi it's nothing but honest opinions on wine. If you ask her what she thinks of a bottle, she'll tell you the truth rather than trying to make the sell if she thinks you won't like it. Just yesterday when we asked her opinion on a bottle, she said, it's good, but this is better and steered us toward another, cheaper option. And this woman has a memory like a steel trap! It had actually been two years since our last visit and she remembered us. Even more impressive, she usually remembers what wines her patrons enjoyed on their last visit, so if you enjoyed a few too many and forgot that amazing wine she poured you, she will likely remember. Everything we have gotten from her has been interesting and delicious. Stumbling across a Kristi selection in our collection is always a treat because we know we're in for something fantastic.
