I have gone to this place for eye exams and glasses for 8 years. This year (for the first time) I had Costco make my glasses. I got them they gave me a headache. I went back to Costco. They said they were made to Dr. Landers's prescription. Dr. Landers's office and they refuse to do anything about it. So I had to pay another eye doctor to do another exam only to find out. I did not need a new prescription this year. I will not go to 512 Eye again. read more

I don't have any pictures but it was my first time here and I chose it from my VSP approved offices and cross referenced them against Yelp reviews. Shout out to Ryan who got me in same day and collected all my info via text which was hella clutch since I was at work. I was experiencing some eye pressure and was due for an eye exam. Everyone was sooo nice and accommodating and considerate. I took several tests plus some extras to be super sure I was is good eye health. Dr. Sara Langer really explained and gave examples of potential eye stressors as well as next steps to pursue since my tests came back without any problems. Very thorough, like the whole staff. I unfortunately had a very disappointing first experience at 512 eye which is sad because Dr. Langer was nice. To start off, after insurance I was billed over twice was I had paid at several other eye doctors over the years. I don't know why this place is so expensive but I should have checked how much it would be instead of assuming it would be the same as other comparable providers. I noticed that they don't do dilation here (I asked) and only had paid up charges. Usually eye doctors will do an eye dilation test included in insurance as an option if you don't want to do the optional paid services so I feel like I didn't get a normal test done. Then I had to wait at least 2 months for my contacts after calling multiple times for updates. I know that's partly the manufacturers fault but the office should have been following up with the manufacturer and myself - I never got a call or email unless I called the office for an update. Lastly, when I got my new glasses I realized my new eyeglass prescription isn't as clear as the one I got last year through my previous provider so I'm sad my new prescription isn't accurate. I'm going to have to stick with Envision Eye Center in Mueller even though it's far away from me because the service and quality of care (and normal pricing) is so much better. read more

They lost my glasses so the examination beginning had difficulties. Then the eye testing instrument pointed to the door instead of the letters on the wall. The doctor said 10 feet was the same as infinity. I was told my TV glasses were my driving glasses. The examination could not take place so we agreed to cancel further procedures. I give 2 stars because I am a difficult patient with limited focal distance ability. I left there totally confused. read more

This was our first experience with US-based vision care, having recently moved to Austin from Toronto. The 512 Eye team (who were shorthanded, no less!) walked us through the entire process in detail, answered all our undoubtedly basic questions, and generally made us feel welcome and invited. Their COVID-19 procedures were top-notch and we felt safe and secure both during our testing and as we looked for new glasses - they wash each pair after they are handled. Given that this is our first encounter with vision care here, I can't really compare them to other service providers, but 512 Eye was clear about pricing, process, and insurance, answered all our questions, were friendly and inviting, and I frankly can't imagine what else anyone would want from this process. Don't buy glasses at 512 eye - save a couple hundred and go online. Make sure you ask for the prescription you just payed for or you'll go home empty handed. 512 eye also won't share pupillary distance either (to make it as hard as possible to get your glasses cheaper elsewhere. Fortunately you can download an app for that. read more

I really like 512 Eye and they are very close to where I live. The staff are friendly and helpful. However, while I appreciate that the staff probably enjoys having a regular 9-5, M-F work schedule, it isn't very convenient for patients/customers that also work those hours. They even close 3 hours earlier on Fridays. By the time you get your exam, pick glasses and have size taken you're looking at at least a couple of hours. Sure, you can go somewhere else to buy your frames but I assume they'd prefer you buy what they have in the store and to be honest, I'd prefer to take care of it all at once. It would be nice if they were open one weekend day, or at least had extended hours one weekday. That being said, if that's not an issue for you, I highly recommend 512 Eye. read more

The team at 512 helped me out big time! It'd been 5 years since I'd had my prescription assessed, and 5 years since I'd bought a pair of glasses. (I've got a pretty mild prescription, so I primarily use my glasses for driving and watching movies). Since it'd been so long, I was very grateful that Dr. Langer was patient with me, testing my vision and figuring out my updated prescription (it seems they were able to use the old glasses to assess what the prescription was on them - neat!) And then, she and the receptionist helped me assess the frames options afterward. With their help, I picked out a snazzy pair of Ray-Bans. Refund policy is no where to be found on the website. When I called Alex told me they don't do refunds at all. Somehow my mother got a random amount refunded and she got to keep the lenses which was a win for her but that doesn't sound like they have a policy in place for returns. Karina told my mom she will call DPS to tell them that she returned her glasses and will be driving without her correct eyewear. My mom then had to call someone to come pick her up. I called to talk to Alex about the situation. My mom said Alex was nice and she even apologized for what was said to my mom but It's day 3 and Alex still hasn't returned my call like she said she would. No need to return my call now. We found someone that goes out of there way to please and got my mother everything she needed. I really appreciate the response back from the doctor at the office! Thanks for giving me a summary of the visit and letting me know Alex called my mother back last Tuesday when I specifically asked Alex to give me a call back and she took my number down. I have never in my life had a quicker eye exam than this one! I waited less than 5 minutes to be seen, the front desk staff were incredibly kind and thorough in going over what my insurance covered, and they assisted me in trying to find frames that I liked.
