This was our first time seeing Dr Chavez and this office. I like that they accepted both our health insurance and VSP vision plan. This office is also VSP premium store for glasses. The lobby/waiting area is spacious and calm. I like the options they have for glasses including wider frames for men as well. The place is clean along with the bathroom and it smells so good. The ladies in front are sweet and the lady taking care of us was very nice and informative that I value very much. I was educated on the new digital way for dilation for retinal. We were appreciative of the Dr explaining everything even when everything looked good. He explained everything he was looking at and told us the good and the bad of each part. They verified my vision plan before getting there and the OOP was very fair. I really wanted to love this office for my annual checkups but I can not get over the unprofessionalism of not returning phone calls for a month or having any accountability when people spend their money here to have the decency to call back or give order status updates. Cons: -a bit annoying to have to pay an additional contact lens fitting fee when I regularly already wear contacts - including the brand I have preference to but they didn't have in stock so I was given a sample of whatever brand was being pushed at the time or the office had preference to. -no one answers the phone or returns phone calls- they have preference for you to schedule online or text the office phone number -I ordered contacts Dec 12 & was advised they would arrive before the new year, reached out 2x over the month regarding if they were in stock and what was going on - no calls back. Finally got ahold of the office today 1/13 to be told they were backordered and in office but when I asked why my calls were not returned earlier they ignored my question and stopped texting back. The ladies at the front are soooo welcoming and funny! I've been here before to fill my contact prescription & they are the reason I returned as a patient. The Dr. is probably one of my favorite eye doctors I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. He was very insightful and educated me on everything I needed to know about my eyes.. 10/10 would recommend. Stay away from this place. After waiting a month for a pair of child's glasses, it turns out they sold me a pair of frames to small for my child's face. When asked why, the girl told replied, 'He said they were comfortable.' Unprofessional and completely unacceptable. They offered to redo his glasses but after all this I don't trust them. On top of everything else his prescription has a bifocal add. When asked why I was given a single vision lens I was told this is how Dr. Chavez prescribes a digital lens. Norma refunded my money. Just had my first appointment, and it was fantastic. The lady (I wish I could remember her name) that took me back and did the initial testing was friendly and knowledgeable. Dr. Chavez was fantastic, he didn't rush the eye exam and convinced me to try out contact lenses (which have always been on my list of things I would never do), which I loved and am going back to get prescribed. He was patient and methodical with the exam its self, which can sometimes be intimidating .. this one or this one... hell I don't know :). I experienced some pain in an eye and when I looked in the mirror I realized it looked different from my other eye and didn't want to fully open. I drove to the office and asked if I could be seen. The very nice lady at the desk took all my new patient information and said I could be seen in an hour! I went home and upon my return I was taken to an exam room and was seen by Dr Chavez. He could tell I was anxious and put me at ease immediately. He did an exam, gave me a diagnosis, sent an Rx to the drug store and gave me a recommendation for another Dr. I need to see. Allow me to be the first review. I cannot give anything but my highest recommendation for Dr. Chavez. He has been taking care of my eyes at his Austin location since I moved to Austin 6 years ago. In addition to being near-sighted and having astigmatism, I also have Macular Degeneration. And though I already have contacts, (monovision, one lens for reading and one lens for distance) I was beginning to have trouble with my reading eye due to the Macular Degeneration. At my appointment last month, Dr. Chavez prescribed reading glasses over my contacts to allow my distance eye to help my reading eye read. It's been awesome! It's easier to read at work, on the computer, menus, etc. Dr. Chavez is knowledgable, very well read about everything having to do with the eyes, very friendly and most of all, VERY CARING. He wants nothing but the best for you and your vision. The Buda office is only 3 minutes farther away from me than the Airport office.
