My wife and I had a miserable day, up until the moment this company arrived. We had a moving company pre-reserved for 3 week in preparation of our trip tomorrow morning to Spain! Our entire home was moved last week and we had a upright piano as the final piece that needed to be moved. The company confirmed, we called this morning and assured us we were in there schedule for 2 to 4pm (we made it very clear we had a flight and absolutely needed to have the movers arrive) Well, they didn't. They called at 6pm notifying us their movers were all still assisting other clients and wouldn't be able to service us till the morning. A review for them will be posted but I will now thank this company because they literally saved the day. We called and sent out a mass message and 5 Star Moving responded. They had a crew in the area that had just finished a move (it was 7pm at this time). The owner was kind, he let me know being Sunday he would have to call his movers and see if they were up for extra job after a long week. The guys called me and we're on there way, arrived within 45 minutes after needing to grab a quick dinner to "fuel up." Kevin and Jamie pulled up, i had to take these photos because their truck they called the Dub Nation was hilarious and refreshing after such a stress taxing day. Kevin and Jamie wrapped my upright and carried down 12 steps like it was a couch. Loaded it and unloaded it app within a hour. No damage and they smiled the entire time. I can't thank them enough and will at any chance recommend them. I'm even surprised to say I'm happy these were my movers and I could support a local Albany company who has guys like this. I'll be thinking of you guys from the beach drinking sangria tomorrow. read more

I hardely ever write review but when a company goes above and beyond I like to give them credit. This is the second time I've used these guys with fantastic results. I had them move me into my new house in Oakland about a year agp. I was on the fence of selling, or storing all the stuff that i had not used after the move; which was a lot of stuff and was still packed almost a year later,, I decided to store these things as most was valuable left to me by my grand mother. How could I sell my Nana's stuff. And who knows maybe I will find out it is worth millions on the antique road show when they come to town. But I digress,,, Lucas and his guys were able to pack a 12 by 12 storage pod in under 2 1/2 hours. There were lot of stairs between the pod and the house but they didnt phase the guys, the house is 3 stories plus. Like I said these guys made short work of it. They packed the pod tightly with blanket and wrap to hold everything together and ratchet straps to keep everyplace in its place. I was very impressed. I originally had asked for 4 other estimates from local companies and these guys had the best price, as well as flexibility to work within my schedule. I would definitely hire Lucas and his company move my stuff anytime. I am very happy with their service and would recommend them to anyone who need stuff moved to a pod; apt, new house, business, or whatever needs moving quickly, and efficiently and is cost effective and pleasant. 5Star moved the furniture and some medical supplies to be donated back home from The Point yesterday. Lucas and I agreed on 1:00 as the time to meet at The Point, although he said I would be contacted when they were on the way. I decided to go over a little early to go through some things I hadn't addressed, so I let him know when I was leaving. He told me the movers would be there around 2:00, which was perfect. About 5 minutes after 2:00 Kevin called to let me know they were there. I told him to park in the circle since the truck wouldn't fit in the garage. He checked in at the front desk and then came up. He had two helpers, Danny and Sean (or Shawn. I didn't ask). I showed them what was going and what was staying and they took what was going down to the truck. I left for home after they had finished in the apartment and parked on the street so they could have full access to the garage. They arrived a bit after I did and they unloaded the medical equipment and miscellaneous stuff, and returned the dresser and file cabinet to where they had been before. The bed went against the south wall. A hamper and a chair and a large framed photograph went upstairs. In retrospect I realized I didn't want or need the chair there, so today I called on my next door neighbor to put it under the house. But the three guys from 5-Star were pleasant, professional and accommodating. They got the job done and now it's my task to sort through al the stuff and winnow out what I don't need. read more

I'm not normally the kind of person to write a Yelp review at all. But 5-Star Moving in El Cerrito definitely warrants getting out of my comfort zone in that regard. This is our second time moving with 5-Star, and Lucas and his crew undoubtedly merit all the glowing praise they receive. If 6 stars was an option, that's what I'd have selected. Both our moves were on very short notice, and we were immensely relieved that Lucas managed to fit us in at the last minute, especially this time. Based on our previous experience, we knew we'd be in good hands, and we never considered going anywhere else. 5-Star's team of professional, conscientious, and speedy movers should be anyone's first choice for a move in the Bay Area. Bonjour! I moved from San Francisco to France using a shipping container. I was concerned that the long trip would end in damage to my items. Lucas, the owner of 5-Star Moving was a great team manager. He walked me through what supplies would be needed to protect my furniture and him and his crew came with 2 car loads full of blankets, plastic wrap, boxes, and other moving goodies. They arrived on time and worked for 8 hours straight, wrapping my furniture and packing it tightly into the shipping container. I watched them as they used 4 straps throughout the load to prevent it from shifting over the long journey. Ezekiel was another super star who I had on the 5-Star Moving team. He was friendly and always had a smile on his face, even while carrying our large amours. I have moved a dozen or so times in my life, and have had the entire spectrum of quality. For the price you can't beat these guys, they charged a significant amount less than the big companies who quoted me $160/hr and they came with the same high level of service. The 2nd day I left for work and the crew stayed with my wife. She told me the men treated her with the upmost respect at all times and were a pleasure to be around. The name truly says it all - these guys are 5-Star all the way! I was planning to handle my local move from Berkeley to Oakland with a friend of mine but hurt my back while packing the night before and was in no shape to carry a bed, a couch, boxes, etc. I was pretty panicked because this was a Saturday and I had to move Sunday (right before the 4th of July) because my lease expired that day at my old place and neither my dog nor my very pregnant wife could stand in for me. I found 5-Star after searching for movers near Berkeley that were open Sunday and crossed my fingers. I called at 8 am on Sunday and Lucas, the owner, called me back within 15 minutes and said he could get a crew over that afternoon. The hourly price was totally reasonable and the same as their weekly price - Lucas did not take advantage of my desperation to hit me with some weekend rate or emergency fee or anything like that. His crew actually arrived early (has that ever happened in the history of movers?!?) and were extremely pleasant to deal with. They were able to move me out of my one bedroom apartment into a townhouse with four flights of stairs in three hours flat. I cannot recommend 5-Star highly enough; I would give them ten stars if that were an option. read more

My company moved me cross-country and they wanted me to use PODS for my move. Found 5-Star Moving through Yelp as well as PODS and I was super glad that I did. Being my first cross-country move since college and first time using PODS, Lucas was super patient in answering my questions and prepping me for what I needed to do. PODS is a bit of a pain to be honest and wouldn't give me a delivery window until after 6pm the night before. 5-Star Moving was super understanding of this and was very flexible on timing and reassured me that they could work around my schedule. On the day of the move, 2 guys show up - Kevin and unfortunately I cannot remember the other person's name (sorry!!). Both super friendly and very professional. As soon as they arrived and looked at my furniture and boxes, they already had a plan on how to load my items. They were really careful about moving my stuff. When the POD showed up at my new home - everything arrived safe and sound - not a single scratch on my furniture. As they assured me when packing the POD, nothing shifted and looked exactly the way they had loaded it. There is so much coordination when moving cross-country and loading the POD was the easiest part of my move thanks to 5-Star Moving!!! read more

I have used 5-Star Moving three times and just recommended them to my daughter. I have only good things to say about them. From first contact, everything was precisely explained. One time, I had 4 guys loading household furniture into a pod. They knew exactly how to pack it in order to accommodate the most furniture and boxes. They took bed frames apart and made sure all the hardware was in a plastic bag and attached to the frame. They wrapped a lot of items in plastic wrap. And, they used the dozen blankets I had provided to further protect some pieces. I was also impressed that they used cardboard to cover glass on cabinets. On one piece, a curved glass china cabinet that I was particularly worried about, they removed the glass and built a frame for it. I was impressed! The other two times were smaller jobs, moving items from Pacifica to SF, and a few months later, from SF to Sebastopol. Two guys came on time, introduced themselves, were friendly and polite. The last time it was lightly raining and I never heard a word of complaint. So, it is easy for me to refer 5-Star moving to my daughter. I wouldn't use anyone else! read more

Imaging that you're given a 30 day notice to move the day before Thanksgiving. That happen to me. Living in the Bay Area I was hard pressed to go out and find a new home in my price range within the next 30 days and find a mover that could move me before Christmas. Luck was on my side, not only did I find a new home within my price range I went onto yelp and found 5-Star moving El Cerrito. The gentleman, Lucas Cannon was very helpful and understanding of my situation having to move out of my home by the New Year. His crew was going to be off during the week of Christmas but he worked it out so I could be moved Tuesday the week of Christmas. How lucky was I. The two gentlemen on his crew were as polite as Lucas was when I called him fanatically for his services. I thought this was going to be the Christmas from hell having to move. Moving day is never easy for a lot of people. I tried to do my best scrambling to get things packed. I called 5-Star moving and got an set date to move right away. It was a recommendation from a friend. This was not a smooth move. I did not have everything packed. I went from a very large house to a house that was less than half the size so it made for a ton of boxes. And we made the crew run up and down three stories. A lot of work and sweat and we did not finish it after the 8 hours and 4 men. Everyone was exhausted and so frustrated. The guys were really working hard. Everyone's morale was low. In hindsight, I realize I did not give Lucas and his crew an accurate picture of my needs. I admit that mistake. The size of the project( move) and how long it may take. Lucas made it right. I had time to finish the odds and ends packing. So, we had one more truck load and got it finished. This is definitely a stand up company! Lucas made sure that I was happy with the outcome. My moving company didn't show up yesterday leaving me extremely distraught. I contacted this company and they were able to fit me into their afternoon the same day. I called and the owner (I think his name is Lucas) was very calming and assured me they would get my move done, as my landlord gave me short notice and I would had had to pay a fee if I stayed passed my lease end. Mostly boxes and my bed and dresser we're moved but I was really really happy with the care they showed when wrapped my washer and drier I just bought! They even removed these 2 pins I didn't know had to be taken out in my washer tumbler to move it safely and no void my warrant :) Alberto and Kevin were my guys and we're so sweet and sensitive. I've had movers before but these guys really helped with my stress and once they arrived and started loading, the small talk was pleasant, they were smart and cheerful on top of it all! Five-star moving earned 5 stars from us! We used these guys twice in two weeks and both times had excellent experiences. We moved from Fresno to El Cerrito and had a large POD storage unit that was moved into our house and the next weekend, we had a 16 foot Budget truck moved into our house. We were downsizing to a house that was about half the size, but we hadn't gotten rid of enough stuff. In other words our new house was packed full of stuff and we had to have the movers move some things several times to get the right placement. The guys were polite, professional, courteous, and strong! We have nice furniture and expensive artwork and they were sure to be delicate but speedy. Both times the guys finished in under two hours. When I called Lucas to schedule the moves, he was upfront with his pricing and we were charged what we discussed over the phone - which is very appreciated. We hired 5 star moving to pack and load a very nice dining room set that I was moving from Vacaville to the Seattle WA area. There was a huge table, 4 chairs with cloth seats, and a hutch. I was concerned about them getting wet while in transport as this was December. Lucas from 5 star told us what to buy at Home Depot (packing boxes, packing blankets, shrink wrap, a tarp. and a few other items) and had 2 of his guys show up on time at my brothers house. They moved the table and hutch, dissembled them, wrapped them in shrink wrap and packing blankets and put them in the back of my pickup. Well, it rained most of the way to Seattle but when we got there everything was fine. Lucas's guys did a great job. They took care in what they did, and I am sure, that's why the furniture got to Seattle in good shape. My sister in law is now going to move to Southern Calif, and she is going to use them to pack all her stuff. I am sure they will do a good job. read more

Jon and Christian were top of the line. We were referred by the company PODS and told Pro Load was a top 50 ranked provider. When our unit arrived I was super concerned everything wasn't going to fit. We had a 3 bedroom home, no garage. These guys must have played a lot of Tetris as kids because they used literally every square inch of this thing! They wrapped the wood items with plastic wrap and blankets too! We had a China cabinet that has been in the family for 3 centuries (all original glass) I had no idea how to protect that. Jon explained crating it would cost a lot of money, I guess that's when they use wood to protect delicate items. Instead he purposes marking a customs cardboard protection layer for the glass . They covered the front with wardrobe boxes, then blankets and finally wrapped it all in plastic. And sure enough , it made it from Palo Alto CA to New York without a scratch ! read more

I booked Lukas's crew, 5Star, about a month before the move because I had such a big move to do and was kind of apprehensive, as I never used a moving company before. Boy were my apprehensions misplaced, I was very happy with results, and feel maybe I was missing out on all those previous moves I am done with friends and family. This was the easiest and best move I've had by far. The guys showed up to my house in San Ramon packed up everything into the truck and delivered it all the way across California, to Chico with no problems at all. They unpacked the truck with no damages to anything and were waiting for me when I finally arrived at my new house. If I only knew how easy could it be.
