I visited this unique eat place for lunch today. I have visited this location one time before about a week ago but did not eat during that visit on a busy Saturday. Today when I arrived at 12:30 it was fairly slow since it was a weekday. This restaurant is located inside the Inspire Rock climbing gym which is a really neat structure. Parking is easy with their own private parking lot. Walking in, the restaurant is on your left with a rock climbing pro shop on your right and the indoor climbing registration desk straight ahead. Today I ordered their classic burger and ordered it as advertised except I asked them to grill the onions which they did. The burger comes with fries or a salad and I went with the fries. This was $10 and I added a bottled soft drink for another $1.50. My classic was the least expensive burger on the menu but the most expensive was the Farmhouse and it went for $13 and remember those prices include a side item so prices are reasonable here. Also, this is a counter service restaurant FYI. They also offer really good looking pizzas and other sandwiches. I took pics of the menu. After ordering, I went to one of the empty tables to wait. They have 6-7 four chair tables along with a few high tables with bar stools and then there is a table bar that runs around the exterior area of the dining area that has numerous other bar stools to sit on. Just guessing I think there is enough seating for maybe 40-50 people. What makes this restaurant so unusual is watching the rock climbers practice on the 4 story high walls right in front of you. Kids and adults were there climbing on both of my visits. My food arrived about 10 minutes later. The burger was served on a sourdough bun and was decent sized with a nice sized patty (5.5 oz.). It was very juicy but the bun held up till the end and I thought it was very good. Also the fries looked homemade with skin and were very good too. Of course, I came here to eat and not climb so my rating is for the food only. I think I will go with an overall of a 4. My meal was very good and reasonably priced. Just wanted to update my review for this restaurant. I've been here countless times since I first came, and have introduced probably 20 people to this life-changing burger menu. I came off of a photo shoot at Old Town Spring and found this place on yelp, surprised at the solid 5-Stars--a rarity in yelp with this many reviews. I shouldn't have been surprised. The atmosphere when you walk in is unlike any of the more awesome restaurants or cafe's you've been in. It's a rock climbing gym!!! I love to watch the climbers, and it even inspired me to rent it out for the night once! It was awesome!!! The staff here are so friendly and so kind, and it just makes for a very comfortable, but energetic atmosphere. The burgers are mind blowing. They are cooked to perfection, incredibly tender, juicier than I would think is possible. But the real awesomeness is in the bread. House made English muffin buns with a house made spicy sauce? Wow! It's like a flavor explosion in your mouth--in the best kind of way. Your meal comes with fries and a drink, which is great, and I love their unsweet peach tea. It's the perfect combination to their burger. I never leave the place feeling regretful, in fact, my tummy typically feels like it's thanking me for the next few hours of blissful euphoria. I made a long drive out here from the city to visit a friend in the area. We thought it was an interesting concept. It is a tiny cafe with limited seating inside a rock gym. They have a good number of vegetarian options, which I was pleased about. A veggie patty is available so that all burgers can be made vegetarian. I ordered a veggie pizza. It was unfortunately pretty bland. I had to add hot sauce to give it some flavor. The reviews other yelpers have posted are raving about their burgers. I don't pass out a 5 rating willy nilly. I just don't. This cafe is just awesome. Casual setting inside the rock climbing gym, it was very cool. I ordered the Farmhouse Burger. Freshly crafted English muffin bun, perfectly cooked hand crafted beef patty topped with a large piece of crispy pork belly, melted cheese and a fried egg. The standard lettuce, ripe tomato and thousand island dressing finished this off to perfection. It was a perfect burger and let's face it, everything is better with pork belly! The beautiful wife ordered the veggie patty burger with a gluten free bun Greek style with feta cheese, banana peppers and tatziki sauce and she was extremely happy. Our son ordered the pizza (surprise). Perfectly cooked napolitano style pizza, crispy and chewy double zero flour crust just like in Italy, not over sauced or over cheesed. I attended a tasting and was treated to 6 sliders of his best burger creations made on homemade English muffins. My favorites are the peppercorn burger with a delicious cognac cream sauce and the Shar-warma which is turkey burger with feta and tzatziki sauce. Last week, I wanted to try something a little different so I started with an amazing Caprese salad, followed by Pork belly tacos, and an Italian pizza topped with pepperoni, capicola, and sopressata. The pizza was so delicious that I ordered another one the next day, only I added thyme roasted mushrooms and feta cheese. I'm so glad this place is close to me because I will be back many more times! I don't know if I'm qualified to say what is or isn't gourmet but there are no ordinary burgers at 5 Ate. The staff are nice and they have been willing to talk about what they have. I've had the Garlic Kale Burger and the garlic butter fries are excellent. The portions aren't too big, neither is the price. I think you get good value. Personally, I'm trying to lose weight so I welcome smaller portions. The taste is what's important to me, anyway. The location in the map is off by about a block. Stumbled on this place after car shopping. Who would have thought that amazing food would be inside a rock climbing place! The homemade English muffin buns make the burgers! I had the Hueco Tanks- but with turkey burger and it was so moist and flavorful. My husband had the Shar-warma burger and said it was delicious. The fries are great too- we got an order of the Cajun ones and garlic. My son love the chicken tenders. I heard the table next to me rave about the pizza. We will try that next time. In a sea of mediocre burgers, this one stands out as really tasty! I tried their classic burger...ugh, so good. The meat is nicely seasoned, the cheese is plentiful and melty, and their homemade English muffin buns will blow your preconceived notions of English muffins out of the water. The fries were on par with Wendy's...salty and decent, but not great. I really enjoyed their unsweetened black currant iced tea since it was very fruity. Our favorite place! We come here for any specials and when we crave an amazing pizza. Chef Charlie has a pizza oven and his pizzas are our favorite and better than any all over Houston. The crust has a great flavor with olive oil and he makes it perfect with it thin, crispy edges, lil burns where it bubbles, and foldable slices. The chef/owner Charles is an awesome all around guy. He makes his own dough that he issues for the burgers and pizza. The ingredients are spot on every time. Spend a few min talking with him and he can customize anything on the menu. Ask him for a diablo version. He keeps certain spices and sauces in the back. The burgers are amazing, pizza is heavenly. He doesn't overload the ingredients, adding only just what is needed. The cafe can even make fresh press coffee. If you are in Spring, do yourself a favor, come here to eat. read more

My boys were craving for pizza and I looked up yelp and found this place. It was pretty close to the highway so it's good since we're just passing by. I'm glad i picked this place because it has that indoor wall climbing thing and the boys have something to look at and not get bored while we wait for orders. I got the classic burger without the bun (I asked for extra lettuce instead) with a side of salad. My older son got kids meal pepperoni pizza and the younger one got the kids meal burger. Each came with a box of juice. Hubby got a large veggie pizza. Everything came out great. My kids loved their meals and they gobbled it all up. I had a slice of my husband's large pizza and it was actually really good. My only complaint is the salad was kind of on the salty side. I was convinced that what people were actually saying is that this burger is the best in all rock climbing gyms. But no, what my sister, graduate of New York's Culinary Institute of America, was telling me is that she believes that I, the self-proclaimed "final word" burger connoisseur, would find a particular burger here to be one of the best EVER. So, she was right. When we stepped into Inspire, passed the large families and groups of kids getting pumped for their climbing activities, I had to smile at the quirkiness of the situation. But the moment I started reading the menu, particularly the impressive array of creative designer burgers, I knew this place wasn't kidding. House-made buns and pizza crust, and everything made from scratch, 5-Ate is serious. The burger: I ordered The Farmhouse. Of course I did, it's got pork belly! But let me just tell you, that wasn't just any pork belly... that pork belly was a standout masterpiece on it's own. I don't know how they prepared it, but the result was outstanding - sizzling, savory char first, easing into sweet yet zesty, meltingly good richness. I could have made a meal out of it, alone. But it happened to be on top a a perfectly seasoned and prepared beef patty, also kissed with delicious char. This was topped by a sunny-side up egg that pushed this burger OTT. FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC. My friends raved about their orders (their sandwich selection is equally unique and creative,) and we all agreed that 5-Ate Cafe is something special, serving up food that easily rivals foodie cafes in the trendiest high-rent districts in the city. This place was a big surprise! You think you're going into an indoor rock climbing center, but to your left is a fully functioning café open to everyone! My friend and I met Chef Charlie, and he was so nice and accommodating. Since the School semester has started, breakfast has been a very slow time for them, so there was nothing ready for us. However, Chef Charlie offered to make us a nice breakfast sandwich with his handmade English muffins. how many chefs do you know do that? He is the first for me, and to top it off, the food was awesome! The white cheddar along with the egg omelette and bacon all sandwiched in between an English muffin was exactly what I needed! Yes, it's in a rock climbing gym (that's pretty much the standard response when I tell someone about this place), but don't let that fool you into thinking it's not outstanding, delicious food. The burgers here are orgasmic. The quality rivals some of the top dishes in the area, mainly because of the obvious attention to detail, homemade sauces, and culinary expertise of the staff. I had the tender and juicy Buffalo Bacon Burger, which left me with a sense of satisfaction that only the best burgers leave you. It reminded me of a spicy lover who was too good for me leaving me wishing to take things to the next level when it was already over. Or a long lost friend who reconnects with you after her wedding, and you realized you were meant for each other, but it was too late because they were really happy with each other, and you didn't want to make things more complicated then they already were. The burger was brought to my table and my first impression was that it was a little under sized. I was wrong. It was perfect. The meat was seasoned perfectly, the two thick slices of bacon were cooked to perfection and the bun was great and was totally intact until I finished the burger. No burger bun melt down that leaves you with a big sloppy mess. I was very impressed with their food and the wide selection of food they have on their menu.
