I totally get the hype about this place! If I lived nearby, you can bet I'd work my way through…read moretheir whole menu. There's just something different about this style of sandwich. I've had sandwiches in NYC and Boston, but Tony's were definitely better! The menu is overwhelming because so much sounds good, so we went with two 7 inch sandwiches to split--one hot and one cold. Although a helpful tip from the cashier is that you can order any cold sandwich hot. We had the Lucky Luciano (hot) and the Sophia (cold). Both were really good--it was hard to choose between the two. But if I'm being honest, that cold sandwich was reminiscent of subs I loved in the early 2000s from places that no longer exist...with that super thinly sliced turkey, thick slice of Swiss cheese, and basil mayo--it really hit the spot. We also had a cannolo--not as good as others I've had. The bottled root beer was delightful. The Lucky Luciano was the kind of sandwich I came here for, and don't get me wrong, it is deliciously cheesy and will make your hands messy. But the Sophia is the kind of sandwich I'll be craving. My only regret was not taking a sandwich to-go for later. Open a location closer to Houston, please. :)

They are a pepsi place (booooooo!), and there's no diet pepsi (pepsi zero is their only zero calorie soda option). If you drink Diet Coke (most popular diet drink in USA), then you don't want diet pepsi, but you'll probably drink it if you have to; however, you're very likely to hate pepsi zero (and Coke Zero, too), so no soda for you here anymore! A full Coke setup that also includes Dr Pepper AND Diet Dr Pepper is ideal. I realize a pepsi fountain is more profitable because of distributor incentives, but pepsi is favored by almost nobody and hated by many...so is it really worth it? Tony's is so great that pepsi just does not fit in. Hopefully they don't deteriorate further and change to Wonderbread for all of their sandwiches. Bottom line: at the very least, please add diet pepsi to your soda machine if that brand remains in place.

We ordered the banana pancakes (about 3 for $9, which is a great deal), corned beef hash and eggs with a bagel and cream cheese -- some of the best I've had at a breakfast spot, and a brisket bowl (not pictured). Everything came out quickly and hit the spot for a late-night meal. Late-night bites for Easter are a tradition for us, and Katz's ended up being such a great surprise. Definitely a place I'd come back to more often.

I'm feeling nostalgic about missing my mother's food, and so had to order it when I saw they had a cabbage roll appetizer. One of those oldie but goodie foods that your mother and grandmother knew how to make, but most of us lost the recipe. There is a slight hint of sweetness in it that's quite appealing, it's different than my mother's version, but I thought it was really excellent!! Will order that again. I don't normally wax poetic about a pickle, but the one they put on my Reuben sandwich plate is worth an ode. I asked them to make the Reuben with pastrami instead of corned beef, and add extra Swiss cheese and Russian dressing. Bib up, it'll drip juices but that's a good thing. Anyway, the pickle on that plate was a three bears story - not too strong, not too bland, but absolutely perfect. I was in a traditionalist mood and so I ordered blintzes for dessert with blueberry sauce. This is my first time eating here, the food was really great, and the staff was warm and wonderful. And you know, the coffee tasted really fresh and was delicious as well! Next time I will order the cabbage rolls again, definitely the blitzes for dessert, and then I'll have to try something else off the menu. Voyage of discovery. Definitely coming back soon!

Back then, I believe we used to have a flyer/menu from them that some employees ordered from. I visited on a cold day where most of the customers were taking their orders to-go. The setup is a little confusing at first, but you just go down the serving line and stop when someone asks you for your order. You can get a tray, or not, depending on how many plates or dishes you ordered. The ready area (for dine-in customers) is weirdly placed in the middle of the line and the spot for to-go orders is at the end of the line next to the last register. Once your order has been places, you grab the ticket and take it to a register. This setup reminds me of a little local deli I used to visit regular in Stafford. I will say that their selection of hot sandwiches and specialty sandwiches is limited. Most are 1 protein only which is probably how they can keep their prices so low. I asked the order taker if you could customize or make a hot roast beef sandwich or toast it and first she didn't understand me, then she just repeated the two hot sandwich options from the menu. I again asked can you make the sandwich toasted, then she said yes. The sandwich, by default, comes on French bread. I wasn't familiar enough with the menu to pick another bread so I just stuck with French. I chose provolone cheese. It comes out after a few mins and it's nicely toasted and ended up being a nice size sandwich with an adequate meat to bun ratio. The sandwich also comes with a pickle spear. I also added a cup of homemade chili which is pretty decent. The meat is finely ground and I prefer it to be more coarse, but the flavor was good. All of their entrees and side dishes have low prices. One of the best deals is the "classic" sandwich which comes with prosciutto. An even better deal may be their baked potatoes with 4 toppings for only $2.09 weekdays!

When it was time we got a call to come back and was seated and hosted by , she was sweet. Ordered off the main menu and got a peach tea, which was delicious by itself but I like my teas a little sweet so we got some sugar and honey as sweeteners. We also got the fairy water for the baby girl. (She loves it) The grilled cheese and soup is so tasty and comes out hot which is also good for a soup. The portions (Caprese sandwich and mushroom sandwich) were so filling but we ate it all, even the accompanying salads.
