I get pulled into this place occasionally for meetings. They actually do have a semi-private meeting room with videoconferencing so apparently I am not the only one. The fare is kind of typical American, but I will give them credit for labeling things for special dietary needs. It offers the perfect combination of upscale and casual dining experience with an exquisite menu of steaks, seafood and American grill, with items such as 8-ounce Filet, Wood Grilled Diver Scallops, Grilled Seafood Trio, and Mahi Mahi, just to name a few. It offers Brunch every Saturday & Sunday from 11am to 3pm and Live Music every Thursday from 7 to 9:30pm, among other Special dinners such as their very popular Thanksgiving Family Style. The restaurant has one of the most beautiful interior designs, with an open kitchen and a modern style lit dome in the center of the dining room. It is such a popular restaurant that the week before today, I had made a reservation through Open Table, and when I arrived, I couldn't find a parking spot for my Lexus, even after driving around their parking lot in circles for a while, and ended canceling the reservation because of this. Today, I arrived early, in time for an early dinner, and to avoid the crowd. As soon as I entered the Host gave me a warm welcome and took me to one of the booths. Not long after my server, a friendly young lady by the name of Amber, greeted me and took my drink order of a Blackberry Sangria Mocktail. For dinner, I ordered a Fried Calamari appetizer, followed by a House Salad with Balsamic vinaigrette dressing, and as my main entrée an 8oz Filet medium rare. Amber provided excellent customer service but her shift ended before I had began my meal, so I was assigned another young gentleman server by the name of Zeke, who also did an awesome job in providing me with an exceptional customer service. The Filet was a bit small for 8oz but it was very tender and cooked to perfection, medium rare, as requested. Zeke forgot to hand me the steak knife, but the manager quickly noticed and immediately brought one to me. So this was not at all an inconvenience to me. For dessert I had a Crème Brûlée. This was the largest size one that I had ever had. And I enjoyed it to the last spoonful. Attempted to order to-go. After putting in the order that was supposed to be completed in about 30 minutes... I arrived to wait for an additional hour. I asked what was taking so long and was told the kitchen was very behind and it would be "a while" until my order would maybe be ready. I eventually cancelled the order (after waiting more than 90 minutes). We normally eat on the dining room side, but Friday night we opted for a table on the bar side for faster service. Service was prompt and kind and gave great recommendations! Burgers were great, nothing too special. Would recommend the white chicken chili nachos, as they come on friend pita bread pieces and are some of the most unique nachos you'll find in the area. Then she brought out a plate for our nachos that was dirty. Foreshadowing the meal to come. Yep! We ordered white chili chicken nachos and a Rueben sandwich to split. The nachos were fried tortillas cut in large triangles with salsa, a hint of the chili which had no chicken, and a small squirt of sour cream. We went to this place because another was closed. I ordered the corn and crab bisque because I wasn't crazy hungry and I wanted dessert later. The bisque was decent. I would probably give it a 2.5 and not try it again. I tried my husband's mashed potatoes which were ok too. I tried the cedar plank salmon and it was delicious. I would have given that a 5. Overall, the salmon was the best thing food wise that I tried and I almost gave up and didn't have dessert but then I decided that it would be good to give them a chance to redeem themselves. We got the lava cake with ice cream, creme brûlée and bread pudding. The lava cake was more like chocolate ganache and moist. It was pretty decent with the ice cream. I really liked the creme brûlée. There were a few burnt spots but otherwise it was delicious. Whoever torches them needs to be a little more careful. I normally don't like bread pudding but this one had a better texture. I think it was that it was a croissant so it didn't taste as soggy as normal bread pudding. I would skip the soup and mashed potatoes next time and have the salmon. The quinoa was not great but not terrible so I would give this a 3.5. read more

Let me preface it by saying I used to love this place. The service is unmatched, all items are made to order, and the price is fair. If 3 stars is "a-ok" according to yelp, then it's only fair I give two in this case. I visited on a Friday evening (9/8) by myself. My waiter was amazing. He was very professional, very suggestive, and checked in often. I ordered the same nachos I had ordered before, a ribeye steak that came with asparagus, and added "grilled" shrimp. The way the tortilla's are cut for the nachos are almost to big. My nachos seemed like a giant thrown together unthought out mess. I was so happy when my steak arrived. I genuinely don't have any complaints about how the steak was prepared. It was seasoned and cooked to my desire. I do wish that 1/3 of it wasn't all fat, but I guess that's what makes ribeyes, tender. The asparagus was so over cooked that it was mushy and it came unseasoned. The " grilled shrimp" seemed like they were just boiled or microwaved. They were unseasoned (I dragged them around on top of my steak to pick up a little something) and there was no sear or grill marks on it, nothing but rubber texture. I couldn't wait to leave after being so disappointed. Yes, I lied when I was asked if the meal was all right. I realize that's the opportunity for them to solve this in the moment. I don't like to complain, and I really just wish it came out right the first time. This place was always amazing before and has so much potential. The menu is right, the wait staff is right, the ambience is wonderful, the food just desperately needs a real cook in the kitchen. I'm not in the area often. Well, 4 of us went for a nice New Years Eve dinner tonight and it was obvious we had server issues from the beginning. Addi T did not greet us for quite awhile so it kind of set the tone. Several other servers did check on us asking if we had been greeted and went to "find someone." Three of us liked the food, although we were confused why some people got 2 asparagus while others got 5. The major fail at the table was the $32.99 ribeye that was paper thin and had been severely overcooked under a heatlamp. My Diver Scallops meal was cold, where his was over done and rubbery. The main compliments at the table was a burger that was supposedly delicious. Another person got the Mahi Mahi and said it was good, but again, why the weird appropriation of asparagus? She got 5, I got 3, another person got four? Anyway, except for the steak the food was fine overall. However, Addi T. truly did her best to make it an unpleasant evening. We are a fun-loving group so we went with it, but her eye-rolls and smirks were not necessary. Addi, no need to roll your eyes when you keep refilling tea and the guys ask for ice. No need to smirk and roll your eyes every time you walked away either. Made reservations for dad's 85th birthday.. started with giving us a legit plastic table to sit at-- mind you again we had a reservation. We had to ask 3x for dad's sweet tea.. we ordered 3 apps and our chips/nachos had a hair in it-- so we sent it back... I ordered the crab cakes, again a hair in it, sent it back- and also told them nevermind to keep it as their management had no customer service skills at all.. our son ordered a burger-- wait for it another hair in it.. at this point my husband took it up to the kitchen as management had already dismissed us and said we would talk once our dinner was done.. He was informed we planted the hair ourselves and my brother told them to keep his as he had already been waiting almost 10 mins for his food and his had not come. my brother was told that we could just leave.. a waitress came over and spoke to us, she actually listened to us and our issues but then the manager just brought the bill, she told him to walk away and instead he thought it was a great idea to get nose to nose with our son... absolutely absurd, uncalled for. This used to be a really nice place for a family meal. We took my elderly dad here for his birthday this October and we were shocked by the state of the place. We were one table out of a total of four in the entire dining room. The parking lot had very few cars. They were out two of the menu items we ordered. The tables were sticky and covered in gunk; we requested the waitress to clean it but she used Murphy's oil soap which just glossed over the gunk. We decided that the gunk must be some kind of waxy buildup from the Murphy's but still, yuck. Oh, and have I mentioned the flies? At least three buzzing our table at any given time. The menu is all over the place too. Weird, inconsistent pricing and the same almond chicken salad served 3 different ways under three different categories. Weird thing is that our food was good, not great, but good. I wonder what happened to this once nice restaurant. It has the feel of a place in the verge of closing its doors, like the owners and management are no longer interested in maintaining its previous reputation as an elegant place to celebrate a special occasion. We'll remember it fondly from our past celebrations but I'm afraid we'll find somewhere else to hold our special occasion meals from now on. read more

Long story short the food kind of sucks-my steak was both over cooked (requested medium-got well) and thoroughly grisly...also lacking in salt and any semblance of flavor. Not at all worth it. We made the reservation through Open Table for 8:15 PM. At 7:20 PM we called the restaurant to ask if we could move it up to 8:00 PM. They said yes, no problem. We arrived at 8:00 and they said they could not seat anybody in the dining room until further notice, but if we could eat in the bar. So, we ate in the bar. Today, we received a notification from OpenTable that we were considered a no-show. The notification included an option to "dispute", which I did. We were there. The people who we interacted with were pleasant and fine. We were seated about 8:15, placed our orders around 8:30-ish, and didn't receive our entrees until 9:15-ish. No joke. It took close to 45 minutes for our food to come out. Food was OK. I ordered my steak medium rare. There was no pink at all. It was at least medium well, if not well done. Same with my daughter's steak. Men's bathroom had trash bin of paper towels, with many on the floor. Needed to be cleaned. General ambiance was not nearly as nice as what I read on-line. read more

Nice atmosphere - dim lighting, good table set up and pretty bar. Food was okay - appetizer salad a little disappointing although the avocado dressing was tasty. There are not many vegetarian options so I got a pizza which was good, a little overpriced but good. Dessert was also just okay. We tried the funfetti cheesecake and it was not good - very plain, a weird dry texture. Tried my friend's bread pudding, also found it to be bland. I have been here a few times and it's a good place to bring a group. Service at the bar has been consistently good. Service in the restaurant is okay but sometimes your server disappears for awhile. Last time I went, I had some good beer. The desserts were also very good (strongly recommend bread pudding). Two of us got pizzas and they were over done. However, they still tasted pretty good. My wife and I have now been here two separate times since the Rona and re-open for patio. We stopped here because they have a large patio one on each side of the front of the building. One side is for smoking the other isn't. The first visit was nice, however there was issues with the keg beer situation. The beer was flat and skunky. Several tables complained. The service was slow. We think it was because they were figuring the situation out with workers inside and waiting staff. We ordered tap beer and it took a solid 25 minutes to make it to the table. The appetizer made it before the drinks. The second trip was better but service was still a little groggy. The food is pretty solid here and there are options for just about anyone. The inside is pretty nice and look forward to trying it again for a regular service. I left a three rating because we only really tried two apps. Mussels and fires. Both were good but the wait time was really long. I will update next visit if service improves and we try one of their many dinner options. read more

To Management's credit, the GM contacted me and apologized for the experience. He asked us to give 419 another try and provided a little incentive to do so. Always a good place for d]lunch or dinner. The cheaper version of Frankie Rowlands. Do like the food here. Love the Cobb Salad -- best in all of Roanoke as far as I can find.
