Great patio and outdoor bar in Vinton! Cheap option with full bar and bites as well as large lunch options that felt fresh and satisfying. Loved the ambiance and the speed of service. Can't wait to return at night!

I'm always intrigued by new restaurants popping up in towns like Vinton. They contribute to the quality of life of the people who live there and in the surroundings. So last Friday, I decided to go visit and try out Pollard 107 South Restaurant, which opened not that long ago in the space where a community theater that was no longer active was located. After driving by the place several times, I was impressed by the total renovation and modern design of the building. The black and red colors of the restaurant gave it a modern, sofisticated, yet casual feel. When I first entered the restaurant through the front door, the first thing I saw was a simple yet beautifully designed host station. On the left was the main dining area with tables on one side and booths on the other. Separated by a wall with large windows was the bar area also a dining area with high tables and chairs. This area also had a pool table and an outdoor area as well for networking events could take place. The bar area was packed with people drinking and some eating as well. The main dining area was beginning to fill up when I got there but not as crowded as the bar. As the host greeted me and took me to my table, I noticed the high exposed ceiling that gave the place some character and at the same time a casual and relaxed feeling. The waitress came and greeted me right away as I sat with the menu. I ordered a Caesar salad to start with, and as an appetizer, the Coconut Shrimp. As my main entrée I ordered the Grilled Teriyaki Chicken that came on a bed of pineapple fried rice. The waitress first brought me the Caesar Salad, and it tasted very good and was served in a black square bowl. Soon after that, she brought me the Coconut Shrimp. The outside was nice and crispy, but the shrimps themselves were tough as if they had been frozen for a long time. I still had not finished eating half of the appetizer when the waitress brought out the main entrée. By the time I got to eating it, the rice was lukewarm, and parts of it had gone cold. The chicken itself was hot and tasted good. I felt the cooking staff and serving staff needed to have better communication and coordination, and management should train them better and help facilitate this. When I asked for the dessert menu, my waitress told me they didn't have one and that they only had cheesecake with a choice of syrup toppings. I chose the chocolate topping. The cheesecake was soft and tasty, but I felt the choice of dessert was limited. It is a pity because I loved the building atmosphere. I believe that if management focused more on the quality of the food and the serving timing, this place could be more inviting and successful. After all, it is the food and the service the two main areas that attract us to go eat in one place other than another. I applaud the ingenuity the owners had of opening this restaurant bar, and I encourage you to go try it out. But in the long run, it will be the way the owner and manager deal with the issues such as the ones that I brought up in this review that will determine the restaurant's future.

My wife and I tried this place out at first when we called they said that they were booked up, but we went anyway to check out the bar and found out that they have a small dining area that separated from the bar. I guess to be quieter, we chose to sit in the bar area because we would like that type of environment. They have a really nice outdoor area. The place seem to be decorated nice and was clean, all the servers that we talked to were very nice and friendly and the food on the menu was good. We ordered some appetizers and drinks. Their appetizers are really nice.

It is a new restaurant so it has a few kinks to work out. They are still waiting for their liquor license but they will have a full bar. The hosts were friendly and we were seated quickly. Brooke our waitress was fast and friendly and made sure our drinks were never empty and the food arrived fresh and hot. The appetizer was out quickly and had great flavor and the two dipping sauces were both excellent compliments to the peppers. I had the shrimp and grits and I can say finally someone knows how to make grits. My guest had the New York Strip and it was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The only downside to our whole experience would have to be the parking situation, but I would not let that deter you from eating here. I promise the food and service are superb. The place is beautifully decorated and the place is clean and well lit. The noise level is what you would expect for an open restaurant with high ceilings. Will definitely be back to try more menu items.

We were driving through the area and this place caught our attention at the intersection of Gus Nicks Blvd & S Pollard St. We parked behind building and walked around the block. We sat outside for lunch and enjoyed the nice afternoon sunshine. We also had our dog with us, which they were very accommodating so the patio setting was perfect! Service was quick, attentive, and overall great experience. The food was delicious; we had the steak and cheese sandwich, steak burger, and salad with chicken. All three meals were very good, plentiful and the fries with the sandwiches were top notch. When I found out the cheesecake is made on premise, we ordered it. WOW!! If you're a cheesecake lover, this is a great place to grab a piece. This is a new place; clean, friendly, and restrooms are nice. We will be back, next time for dinner!

This is a low key fun hangout. So many good food options and a great price range! If you want the best service, sit at the bar and ask for Ed or Shane. They will give you amazing attention!

Service was good. Had two lovely servers taking care of us and bringing our beers, didn't bring us waters but we didn't ask so let's just say we're a little hungover today . It's nice to see a new restaurant in Vinton and we were excited to support but quite frankly it was not good. We had a good sized party and I don't think one person enjoyed their food. They brought me the wrong food altogether and there were several errors and omissions among the rest of our orders. Nice outdoor seating and fire pit but the ambiance was off, seems like they couldn't pick a concept. Weird rift between steakhouse and sports bar. Music playing was weird too, vans warped tour kinda playlist

    Restaurant area wonderful wait staff

The food was good and the service was fantastic. Grace D made us feel welcome and was attentive and had us leaving with smiles on our faces

I'm a fan of a Connecticut style roll (hot buttered lobster roll) so this was on my must-try list. The roll was expensive ($25) for a very small roll (we finished it in three bites) BUT it did contain both claw and tail meat. The roll was fresh and buttery and the lobster was cooked well. I only wished the lobster contained a little more butter. They had other items on the menu such as crab fries, coconut shrimp and on Facebook they show snow crab rolls coming soon (yuuum). The staff were really kind and even threw in a few fries for us to try. Overall, a nice experience but just expect to spend some money!

Yes, there was a line ahead of me, yet there really was zero sense of urgency to move that line at above a snails pace. I also had to ask for forks and napkins Sandwich was pretty small, and lobster was chopped up and heavily seasoned. IMHO, it didn't taste fresh either, like maybe the seasoning was an attempt to cover the quality or freshness. After having been selected as number 4 of Yelp's Top 50 most prolific Elites of 2025, a year when I also was awarded the Yelp Triad Squad Photographer of the Year Award at their Yelpies 2025 Award Ceremony, an event that honored the highest-performing Yelp Elites, and where last year I was awarded the Yelp Triad Squad Yelper of the Year Award, I decided that this year, as an All-Star Yelp Elite, I not only wanted to be the first to discover new restaurants and bring them to the attention of the public, but also to return to those special ones, that have made a difference in my life and highlight them, for the benefit of the public, so they too can have an opportunity to appreciate the qualities of a one-of-a-kind fine dining experience. And Bernard's Gastropub & Eatery in Downtown Roanoke, is a perfect example. Bernard's was born out of the love of two culinary aficionados turned professionals that in someway have managed to create a restaurant with an environment that transmits this intimate love to the hearts of their customers through the attention to detail in its extraordinary customer service and amazing culinary masterpieces. Today, I felt like dining at this restaurant, which I admire for its consistency in always far exceeding my high expectations of what a fine-dining restaurant should be all about. Not knowing if they would have a table for me at this late time on a Saturday early evening, I drove in my pearl white Lexus to the nearest private parking lot and gave them a call to inquire as if they could give me a reservation for the next ten minutes. A gentleman, who later I found out was named Matthew, and would be my server, answered the phone with a very polite and welcoming voice; answering my question of what was the special dish of the day and to come on down, that my reservation was assured. As soon as I arrived to the small, very elegant foyer in front of the Host's station, he came out to greet me and instantly recognized who I was. My only request was that he give me a low table because at my age seating at a high table was a bit uncomfortable. He went back to see what he could find and ended setting me up with what I consider one of the best tables of the house, and I was so appreciative of his last minute accommodation. The menu was already setup on my table. He poured water from a special bottle into my water glass and asked if I wanted something else to drink. I asked for a Mocktail and since he also was a bartender, he prepared me one of the best mocktails I've ever had. To dine, I started out with their Mussels Carbonara appetizer, which came in a bacon parmesan cream sauce that was simply amazing, and served with toast points. As my main entrée I had the Dinner Special of the Night, the Seafood Trio. It had a delicious, giant size crab cake in the middle, scallops, and shrimps, with parmesan risotto sautéed heirloom tomato, spinach, and nice size asparagus, with a burre blanc sauce. I invite you to view my photographs accompanying this review to get a better sense of the high-quality of their food and magnificent ambiance of the place. Everything was so delicious that only one word could ever describe them: priceless! For dessert I had their very famous Butterscotch Banana Pudding, which the chef makes at the moment ordered. It looked spectacular and tasted amazingly delicious: a culinary work of art. What a great way for the Gran Finale of an extraordinary dining experience!

So much you could say about The Hatch and that it's popular for seafood. The menu was simple and limited. We arrived around 5:30pm on a brisk March 2026 Friday early evening. We found parking nearby and walked to the restaurant after over feeding the meter. We probably spent about an hour here before we paid for the bill and left the downtown Roanoke area. On this day, I decided to pay for myself and my friend, since he was celebrating his birthday. My friend and I spent about an hour here and it was a nice venue to have dinner with friends. My friend got the fried chicken thing with sides, whereas I got the ultimate po'boy sandwich with a side of fries. It seems like The Hatch tries to elevate Cajun / Southern food with familiar flavors and dishes in a more modern and lavish setting. For the price and perceived value I gotten from my meal, it was generally okay. I have had po'boys that was a tad cheaper but had more proteins stuffed into the sandwich. It was delicious and definitely nice to have after a day of touristing in Roanoke. The prices seem reasonable here in hindsight and the staff here was friendly and helpful. If you enjoy Soul food and Cajun cuisine with flair, consider coming to The Hatch in downtown Roanoke, if you're in the area. We happened to get here without minimal waiting for a table, which was a good thing. Definitely worth coming to check out if you're in the mood for something different than your usual burgers and fries or tacos. The overall experience here at The Hatch restaurant in downtown Roanoke, Virginia was decidedly good yet decent too. The ambiance was typical and quiet. My friend and i were sitting in the quieter side of the restaurant, which was nice and we had a nice conversation while waiting for our meals to arrive. It was comfortable and definitely air-conditioned. Not sure if they had Wi-Fi but I did not need it anyway. The restaurant itself was very decorative and clean. The meal I had was delicious and definitely. It was served with a smile from the server. I enjoyed every bit of the restaurant itself because it was a nice and quiet dinner and it was here in Roanoke. A quiet town in Virginia that is away from the hustle and bustle of Richmond and Washington DC, but has his own flare. Maybe it could've told something better than a po'boy or had other entrée at the time, but I decided to have that po'boy sandwich with weird version of French fries. It was an OK place to be although the mail was delicious regardless. I could recommend coming here, if you're really hungry, but I probably wouldn't come here again. If my future travels permit me too, though. Don't get me wrong, it is a good place, but it's not for me. Check it out, though, you may like it. The Hatch restaurant is located in downtown Roanoke, Virginia. They are situated physically at 32 Market Square SE in a busy downtown section. They accept major credit cards as well as cash. As far as parking goes, my friend used a paid parking lot that was a short walk away from the restaurant. He inadvertently overpaid for the time allotted but we got the time in that we wanted. There may be other spots in the downtown area but it may not be free. Decide what's best for you and head on over to The Hatch Roanoke. If you're like me and love public transportation, you can consider the Star Line Trolley that travels from the third street bus terminal. Other than that, you'll need to travel to the third street bus terminal from your point of origin. And of course, there is always uber and lyft to get you here comfortably and conveniently, if you decide to take that route. However you get here, you can come and enjoy. The Hatch seems like they're a casual eatery in downtown Roanoke. They try to be upscale with southern creole cuisine. It is a nice place to dine, of course. Check it out for yourselves. This place might be the hidden gem that you're dying to try in the heart of Roanoke. I liked it but it could have been a bit more better. 4.0 stars for the overall experience. Support local! B

As usual, as soon as I walked in the place, I was received with a heartfelt, open-arm, very warm welcome, and was given the good news that starting on March 16th their hours will be expanded to 10:30AM - 10:00PM Mondays through Thursdays and 10:30AM - 1:00AM Fridays and Saturdays. They told me about all their plans for the Spring of the new year, including the further expansion of their outdoor patio dining area. My server Justin, the son of this family-owned business, took my order and had me seat down at the counter of my choice. I ordered a Coke to drink, forgetting that they also had Cherry Coke, my favorite. To eat I ordered a Jesse Jones Beef All Beef Hotdog with mustard, ketchup, and relish; as well as a Smokehouse Burger, which had a double smash burgers, BBQ sauce, Bacon, Caramelized Onions, Pickles and two cheeses of my choice. I picked American and Swiss cheese as my choice and they customized it to include lettuce, tomatoes, and ketchup. Then I made it a combo with Waffle Fries and a medium Coke. I enjoyed watching the cook make my food in their open kitchen. Wearing special black disposable nitrile gloves, he grabbed a ball of fresh, high-quality ground meat and put it on the grill; then he used a burger smasher to flatten the ball-sized beef patties onto the hot surface of the grill for maximum searing. During the process, he changed his disposal gloves several times to ensure food safety. He also used a basting brush to butter the burger buns before he heated them on the grill. This not only gave the burger a good taste but made it look delicious. I invite you to view my photographs and videos accompanying this review to get a better sense of the place and the quality of their food. When I took a bite of my smash burger, it tasted absolutely mouthwatering, or as the restaurant is called "Absolutely Delicious." The same with the hot dog. Best hot dog around! And the waffle fries were amazing. They were well seasoned and shaken after they came out of the frier; soft in the inside and crispy on the outside. The best waffle fries I've ever had. Even better than the ones from Chick-fil-A! They also had me taste their newly introduced Tater Tots; which are a graded potato formed into small cylinders and deep-fried. Their taste and texture were out-of-this-world! Very soft in the inside and just the right amount of crunchinnes on the outside. For dessert I had a couple of Strawberry Cheesecake Rolls. It reminded me of the fried cheesecake commonly served in Mexican restaurants but these also had strawberry filling. I was so pleased with their food and service that I gave them a good tip and paid at the counter with my Harvard Alumni World Mastercard. I highly recommend this little restaurant and urge you to give them your total support. What you'll get back will be an "absolutely amazing" dining experience like never before.
