There are many top restaurants in this Star City of Roanoke and I can proudly say that this is one of my favorites. I have been a loyal customer since the first day it opened. And every time I return, I keep wanting to come back for more. Located on the 6th and 7th floors of the Center in the Square building, this restaurant provides an elegant yet relaxed ambiance in which to enjoy an exceptional dining experience. Today I made an early dinner reservation on my OpenTable app for 4:45PM, asking to be seated at the same table that I always seat at if it's available. After parking my pearl white Lexus at the Center in the Square Garage, conveniently located next to the building where the restaurant is located, I went through a connecting door and took the elevator to the 6th floor. Once inside the restaurant, two friendly young ladies greated me at the Host's station and one of them remembered which was my favorite table and took me there. Soon afterwards the manager saw me and gracefully came by to say hello and thank me for coming to dine there. I responded with: "It's always a pleasure to do so." Not long afterwards my server Sam, another friendly and very efficient young lady, came by to greet me and take my order. To drink I had a Bees Knees Mocktail. They make the best cocktails there. That's why the bar is always full. To dine I started off with a Steakhouse Wedge Salad, followed by a Shrimp Cocktail, and then by the main course: a Filet Mignon cooked medium-rare, with a Grilled Lobster Tail Steak Enhancement. I asked for everything to be spaced appropriately and my server made sure that they were. The Steakhouse Wedge Salad was delicious with bacon lardons, cherry tomatoes, red onions, gorgonzola, and with house-made buttermilk herb dressing. The Shrimp Cocktail was amazing. It had 1/2 Lb. of poached and chilled fresh Jumbo Shrimps with Cocktail sauce and a slice of lemon. And the main meal was extraordinary. The Filet Mignon was cooked medium-rare to perfection and the Lobster Tail enhancement was just the right size of tender lobster meat removed from the shell and served with a little bowl of melted butter. I invite you to view my photographs accompanying this review to get a better sense of the place and the high-quality food, well prepared. My server came by at the right moments to check on me, and the manager also came by my table to give me a visit and make sure all was to my satisfaction. For the Grand Finale I ordered the Bananas Fosters Beignets dessert: a fresh Croissant dough with Caramelized Bananas, served with vanilla ice-cream and Brown Sugar Caramel. Everything tasted amazingly delicious and I was able to enjoy an extraordinary dining experience. I highly recommend that you try this place out. I really love this place and the views. At last dinner there, Grace was our server and she was wonderful! I would definitely recommend going here. The food is delicious and well presented. They are also very attentive to the food and any special requests you may have. My 2 picky issues - had oysters on the half shell, they were sandier than they should be, and the "bread service", which is a paid item, I really don't get this trend, especially at such a high-end restaurant. Had a great time here enjoying a dinner with friends. We were able to reserve an outdoor table that offered a great view of downtown and some mountains. Service was very nice from start to finish. Cocktails are unique...I had the blood orange old fashioned which was okay but not great. For dinner, I had the ribeye which was excellent but also very pricey at $56. My friends had a filet mignon and that was not great. The server did not provide a steak knife for that and sometimes you get a filet so tender, you don't need a steak knife. That was not the case here. Once they got the steak knife, they still had to saw at it, shaking the table, to cut through it. I think it was just a bad cut but it was really tough. We had some desserts...one we weren't crazy about and I can't even remember it but the Bananas Foster Beignets were great! Overall, I like the place and since my food was good, I give it four stars. read more

After an afternoon round of Disc Golf in Troutville, we arrived looking for some needed sustenance. These two sandwiches were awesome! There are many great burgers out there but this PLUS the truffle fries was wonderful. I'd never seen a tuna sandwich like this before. The wanton seemed a little odd but it's crunch plus the pickled ginger really made this sandwich delicious! We added a couple of glasses of wine from a nicely curated wine list. What a gem! At a conference in Roanoke and found our way to this wonderful restaurant! Grace was our server and she was personable and attentive the entire evening. We enjoyed appetizers (awesome bread, tasty arancini, and the crab dip). Ate the blackened snapper w creole sauce, YUM! Delicious flavor, large portion! Others enjoyed the ribeye and hamburger. Raspberry sorbet was a real hit for dessert! After dinner headed up to the rooftop for the ambiance and view. Did I mention there is a world class pinball and classic arcade on few floors down which is surprising to find in Roanoke and worth a visit on its own! Overall, recommend! Planned a dinner date for my mother on a Saturday evening at 6:15. We were sat in a booth at the bar after the host tried to get us to sit outside (in February). The dining room is smaller than anticipated and has an open kitchen area and a small bar. Despite the name, you can't really see much sky from the indoor dining area, you'd have to be seated outside to get any sort of worthwhile view of the city. It was quite loud and very busy, the booths are small and people are walking very close by you when maneuvering around. I was relieved to not have been seated on the kitchen side where I'm sure it was louder and more chaotic. We had previewed the menu online (due to my mother having several food allergies) but were surprised to find a different menu in front of us upon arrival, the sever said it had just been updated the day before. The menu is small (even smaller if you have food allergies) and heavy on the seafood but the server was attentive and helpful for the menu she had to work with. There was a discrepancy between the server and manager about having a separate fryer for gluten allergies or not and it seemed like the server could have had more knowledge of the menu/allergy options than she had for an upscale dining establishment. We ordered a burger with no bun as the gluten free option and were not asked for a temperature so it came out quite pink and we had to ask for it to be thrown back on the grill, not surprisingly it came back as a tough puck blacked to a crisp. If you're not listing a standard burger temp on the menu the guest should be asked for their temperature preference to avoid such inconveniences on both sides. There are no sides listed on the menu but they do have carrots, side salads, asparagus, fries etc as secret mystery sides. The mocktails were $7 on the online menu and $9 on the newly released menu but the Blood Orange Spritz was flavorful. The shishito pepper appetizer had a nicely fried tempura coating but was just missing something in the way of flavor, for a whole plate focused upon peppers it had no spark or zing whatsoever, not even in the sauce. The steakhouse wedge was a large portion and the lettuce was crisp and fresh, the bacon was like chewing on tiny pork gravels and the bleu cheese was a little strong but the dressing was interesting. I had my heart set on the she-crab soup but settled for lobster bisque which was disappointing. It was very fishy, smelled heavily of fishyness, was very dense and thick with a few slimy slivers of lobster in the otherwise fully blended soup base, served lukewarm in a giant bowl with a giant spoon. The asparagus was divine with a perfect smoky char. We skipped dessert and for the price point I found the overall experience to be underwhelming since it is marketed as a "mountain top" dining experience. read more

I ordered the whipped feta for an appetizer (delicious!!) and ribeye rigatoni (very filling and also delicious) I also did have a birthday recently and was given a nice birthday sundae at the end of my service. Food, service and ambiance were all outstanding. Rain had started so unfortunately we couldn't dine outdoors. View was exceptional though when we stepped outside after dinner when the rain stop. Very nice to see skyline at sunset and at night. I am usual a harsh critic on steaks and rarely order- but their ribeye was simply phenomenal. Great flavor, great cooking and very good quality meat. My only complaint was the cleanliness of the lobby. Very small detail- but started the night off a little bad. The foyer coming into the restaurant was very sticky and made me question the restaurants cleanliness. Thankfully it was isolated to the foyer. There's so much potential for this place to be really good, however, I feel it just misses the mark. To start the lighting is so bright and not what you expect at fine dining at 9pm. If they were to lower the lighting it would make a ton if difference. Currently, there are lights at the table that go unused because the overhead is so bright. . This was our third visit and we had a baked brie appetizer, the snapper, a fillet, and crème brûlée for dessert. The Brie is good but presentation wasn't appealing. The snapper and filet were very good and cooked perfect. The brûlée had a gummy shell and ruined the overall good flavor of the dish. So I did not think a rooftop restaurant was going to be as good as six and sky was!! I made a reservation and I'm glad I did. My party and I were seated right away. The drinks were very good! But the food was phenomenal! I got the crab dip, snapper, tuna burger, Brussels side, carrot side, and truffle fries. It was the highlight of my night! The views were also worth it as well. Had a group dinner here recently while in town on business, what a location. This one is amazing, on top of the building with a panoramic view of the area thats unmatched. We had reservations and our table was waiting for us on our arrival. Service is professional and on point. Everyone in my party tried a lot of various items off the menu, I opted for the Seared Scallops and they were delicious. Prepared beautifully, seared to perfection. A Quad of succulent scallops over a medley of spiced rice and bacon, with micro mushrooms sprinkled over top. We've been meaning to try this place for a while so finally Sunday evening we went. Location is superb, wait staff is superb, and the food is some of the best in Roanoke. We were pleased by the amount of variety of the menu, but the smell of the steaks caused me to order the ribeye, which was a beautiful piece of meat that was cooked perfectly with a lot of crab meat on top and hollandaise. It was a lot to eat, but I could not stop and had to finish it. My wife had a combo meal of grilled shrimp, scallops, and crab. It was also amazing. These entrées came with perfect mashed potatoes and asparagus. After all this food, all we could do for dessert was share an order of beignets. Very disappointed! We have dined here many times for special occasions. Tonight was our 41st anniversary. We've been anxiously anticipating dinner to celebrate. The quality and portions have diminished, but of course the price hasn't. It took 45 min just to get the appetizer. (The server did remove it from our bill which we did appreciate). We did ask if the restaurant was under new management. Our server did say they have recently changed management companies. Decided to try this new spot to celebrate my husband's birthday and my recent college graduation with friends while we were in town for the day. We ordered a mix of things and were so pleased at all of them, lots of food for the price. The gnocchi was definitely homemade, but very dense and also overcooked. The sea bass had a weird flavor. The fish and chips were too dark. The oil was far too hot. Beignets at another table were also very dark. Pretty much the only good things were the burrata and the truffle fries. The ambience was modern, but they had plug in rotating fans going everywhere. Let's start with the Ambiance. WOW. Roanoke has needed such a place as this for Sooooo Looonnng! Outdoor seating . Two walls of glass. Views of downtown & the mountains. Service. Phoenix, at the bar was kind, knowledgeable, helpful, but not intrusive. The staff were incredibly accommodating. I had the Red Snapper. Should've taken a picture. Beautiful. But more importantly, incredibly tasty! I'd say delicious. And having travelled far & wide, it was wonderful to have a properly cooked fish that was neither overwhelmed by add-ons nor overcooked.
