1/2 chicken with avocado and salad! Delicious!

The food was absolutely amazing! The service was awesome! The atmosphere was cozy and private (we were seated in a booth). I had a cocktail, Pisco with lime and ginger ale...delicious! We ordered and split an appetizer, Shrimp Causa(?) or something like that. Flavors were out of this world! We both ordered half a chicken, with two sides. I had avocado and salad, hubby had black beans and rice. Chicken cooked to perfection! We split a dessert of passion fruit mousse, recommended by our server...it did not disappoint! Delicious! Prices extremely reasonable for what you get!

This was a good find! Came here for lunch with a group of friends. I am a fan of Peruvian cuisine every chance I get, I get some. They were very accommodating to our pretty large group of 9 adults and 3 kids. The service was great. When it came time order, one of the other couples ordered an appetizer but it came out right along with the food. Granted the appetizer was not your normal fried pickles or queso and chips in order for it to come out quicker than the food but still if it's under appetizers it should be out before the main meal. The appetizer was Anticucho (marinated veal heart), this was packed of flavor and delicious! But...Moving on to the food food, the presentation of all the dishes was really good. The plates were unique and go really well with the restaurant. Being my first time trying this place out; I tried one of my favorite Peruvian dishes that I have had before at other places and loved. I had the Lenguine Huancaina con Lomo. Presented nicely, but I do have to say the Lenguine and meat could have had a tad more seasoning/flavor. The sauce that came with the meat was great, but the meat it self was bland. My husband had the Chicharrón de Pescado, basically pieces of fish deep fried served with some type of tartar sauce. The sauce saved the dish, the fish was bland as well. The fried yuca was ok, no salt either. And we had pineapple juice to drink, I understand it was a natural fruit drink but it wasn't sweet as I expected it to be either. Like I said before I have had my fair share of Peruvian food to know what flavors to look out for, maybe it was an off day, I don't know, but i was a tad disappointed as far as flavors go. I really love Peruvian food, but the flavors weren't flavoring in our dishes.

Food was really good. The beef had a lot of good sauce. Everything was hot and fresh. Service was friendly but a bit slow. I had to find him to get our check. I also didn't like that I wasn't given a printed invoice. He just told me the amount and took my credit card. I took a star off. Place is a bit dirty and unkept. Shame on the owner. I took a star off for that.

Tried Inka Grill and ordered the lomo saltado. It was really good and definitely worth trying if you come here. The only thing I didn't love was the cleanliness of the restaurant the night we went. There were quite a few flies around which was a little distracting. Not sure what that was about. That said the food itself was solid and I'd still come back to try some of their other dishes.

While in Roanoke for work I decided to look for places away from the downtown area to visit and since I love Peruvian food, I came here. I chose this particular location based on the reviews, as there were many and they were very complimentary of the experiences others have had here. The young girls working when I went were very friendly and helpful. Their menu is loaded with lots of options, including some items I wasn't familiar with, like "Tacu Tacu" style food, which is where they add on a fried (probably more sautéed) rice roll. I started with their Huancaína Potatoes and asked for the sauce to be spicy, which they did for me. The sauce was really good. The potatoes were so bland and dense, though cooked perfectly, that the sauce couldn't overcome the denseness and blandness of the sauce. It's sort of a baked potato that's been peeled and then this sauce put on top. If they had made and served it exactly like the pic shows, which is 4 slices of potato with sauce all over each slice I would have definitely enjoyed it more. Next up was their Tacu tacu con lomo. I love Lomo Saltado, but rarely get it because many places don't use the right cut of beef and/or they don't use enough heat when wok'ing it to cook it, thus the beef isn't as flavorful as it should be. This version definitely had plenty of sauce, but the flavor of the sauce was totally missing that umami that comes from wok'ing it, Wok hei-style, which is when the chef pulls back and lets fire reach into the wok, kissing the food with flame... Many Szechuan chefs do this perfectly and it's a part of the flavor that makes that food so great. But here, they totally missed the mark on my dish. The meat actually tasted a little funny... not sure why, but it tasted very greasy/fatty in flavor, which wasn't appealing at all. I actually enjoyed the tomatoes and onions more than the beef. The Tacu Tacu portion of the dish was decent in the sauce. Their green sauce was really good and it helped this dish immensely. Overall... I left disappointed. But that was just my experience, I'm sure they have other items that are very good. Would I go back? Probably not.

Although I am always down to try new food when I'm traveling, I always look up & save Peruvian spots too We came here right before our flight back to Vegas and they made sure our service was quick and efficient so that we were right on schedule. Great size restaurant with beautiful Peruvian aesthetic throughout! The food was colorful and flavorful and the Pisco sours were a MUST have. I had the Tallarin a la Huancaina con Lomo Saltado, the pasta was creamy delicious and the lomo was juicy. The chicha morada pisco sour cocktail was my favorite drink! The food here is incredible. First time trying Peruvian cuisine, and it did not disappoint. I got the Tacu Tacu con Lomo and it was delicious. The table got a side of fried yucca and plantains and they were amazing. The service left a bit to be desired, but the restaurant was clean and well-maintained. I will definitely be back to try more.

With a cute, friendly, caricature Shrimp Chef design in it's logo, and the slogan: "Fresh Seafood Made To Order," how can one go wrong? Located in an unassuming and relatively small building painted light blue on the outside, and with a simple sign on the roof above the entrance that reads: "COME ON IN / NEW MENU / DON CAMARON SEAFOOD," this very unique seafood restaurant located on Brambleton Ave in Cave Spring, Virginia, is more than just your ordinary Seafood restaurant. It's Mexican heritage cuisine brings to the menu items some flavors that contribute to the seafood taste more delicious than ever before. When driving down Brambleton Ave you can't miss a tall orange sign with the name and logo of the restaurant, placed right in front of their huge parking lot, providing convenient complimentary parking to all its customers. The restaurant building itself looks small from the avenue because is in the back of the parking lot, but once you get closer you will begin to notice the difference. Its log cabin architectural building design seems to give it warmth and as you enter its doors, all the wooden accents in the interior design of the building, together with the blue lighting treatment of the bar, and logo cabin look of the main dining area creates a cozy, warm, and friendly environment, perfect to enjoy a good meal and quality time with family and friends. As soon as I entered the restaurant, a friendly young lady greeted me with a friendly smile, took me to a table of my choice in the dining room, and handed me the menu. One can learn a lot about a restaurant from its menu. In this case, it was a beautifully designed menu, with its name, logo, and slogan on the cover. Open the menu and inside I found a good selection of seafood items, cooked in a variety of styles, with an easy to read font and highlighted with professionally taken photographs of the main items on the menu. Just from viewing the menu you can't help it but to want to return to taste some more of their delicious cuisine. My server, a very friendly young lady with a welcoming smile came by, introduced herself and took my order. To drink I had an Horchata, which is a sweet non-alcoholic drink made with rice and sugar, and very refreshing with lots of ice. They also had domestic and imported beers and wine on the menu. As my main course, I ordered the Camarnes Gratinados (Shrimp covered in bacon and melted cheese), with the two sides of French Fries and Hushpuppies. I found all the items of the menu to be reasonably priced and served abundantly. My food arrived in a reasonable amount of time and you can even watch this in one of my video clips accompanying this review. Everything on the plate was amazingly delicious, quality, and plentiful. The shrimps were fresh, plumpy, tasty, and cooked to perfection. The Fries were the right cut and fried just right to be crunchy on the outside and soft in the inside. And the Hushpuppies were amazing. My compliments to the Chef for such an extraordinary cuisine. I believe that the success of good tasting seafood lies in the way it is prepared and cooked. No dinner is complete without a good sweet dessert. So as the grand finale I had a Flan. Now this was no ordinary flan. I invite you to look through my photographs accompanying this review and see for yourself. It was homemade, made with the riches of ingredients, and tasted splendidly. One of the best, if not the best Flan I ever had. In conclusion, I had an extraordinary dining experience and highly recommend this Seafood Restaurant. What the owner and chef of this restaurant have created can't be described in words but experienced for yourself. There are times that you discover restaurants that you wish you had known since they first opened…read more You really feel at home in its clean and laid back environment. They treat you like if you're part of their family. And their food is like the one Gradma used make when you were growing up. What better compliment can you give a restaurant! After being awarded the Triad Yelper of the Year 2024 Award at the Yelpies Award Ceremony last year, an event that honored the highest-performing Yelp Elites, I decided that this year, as an All-Star Yelp Elite, I not only wanted to be the first to discover new restaurants and bring them to the attention of the public, but also to uncover those found in hidden paths that for one reason or another have not reached the public in its totality. And Uncle D's Take Out, in Roanoke, Virginia, is the perfect example. And it's not just for Take Out anymore. Word of mouth is still the most effective way of making your business known. And in this day and age of modern technology a review in the form of words and photographs is as effective or even better. As I was searching on my cellphone for a place to eat, Uncle D's caught my attention. Mostly positive reviews and very captivating photographs of their food. Yet the words Take Out and very few photos of the interior of this restaurant somewhat detracted from the desire to go visit it. Yet in the past I've found that oftentimes restaurants with high take-out orders are also the ones who have a high level of in-house customer followers. So I decided to go dine in and what I uncovered by experience was amazing news: Uncle D's is not just for Take Out anymore. Dining in is a wonderful experience in and of itself, alone or with family and friends. Located in a contemporary looking strip mall across from the Oak Grove Plaza Shopping Center, where popular restaurants like Wildwood Smokehouse and Highlander Pizza are located, you can find Uncle D's next to The UPS Store. Parking was very conveniently located and as I walked to the restaurant their sign high above spoke quality in its design and in the food of which it represented. Inside I found a nice size, clean and colorful little restaurant with Golf items decorating its walls, reflecting the importance that golf played in the owner's life and the love that he has for this sport he has now placed in this restaurant. I was greated by a friendly gentleman with a warm welcome that immediately made me feel at home. He talked to me about the restaurant and it's most popular items in the menu of which I had on the table where I was seated. A really nice and friendly lady, who was the cook, looked at me from out of the kitchen with one of those looks that only grandmas know to give in anticipation of watching you eat her food that she had prepared with much love. I ordered their Grandma's Pot Roast with a side house salad with Ranch dressing, mashed potatoes with gravy, and added a side of Fiesta Corn. To drink a picked a can of Coke which I drank with one of those straws that bend for the convenience. The food was served in a reasonable time. The salad was made with fresh ingredients, was a nice size, and tasted wonderful with the Ranch salad dressing. The Pot Roast was amazingly delicious, soft, moist, and very full of flavor. The amount was more than enough to fill me up. I could go on and on but a picture is worth a thousand words. I invite you to view my photographs accompanying this review to get a better sense of it all. For dessert I has a slice of their Coconut Cream Pie which was also very good. If you're ever in the mood for good hometown Southern Comfort food, I highly recommend that you visit this restaurant with family and friends. For the full dining experience is definitely worth while. And experience that I will never forget.

Founded in 2005 by Olivia and Rocky Byrd, this family-owned and operated fine-dining restaurant was established to bring a high-end yet relaxed seafood and wine dining experience to this area. It offers a seasonal menu and an extensive wine list of over 270 selections. After being ranked 4th among Yelp's Top 50 Most Prolific Elites of 2025, a distinction recognizing my consistent community engagement and high-quality contributions, I decided that this year, as an All-Star Yelp Elite, I not only wanted to be the first to discover new restaurants, businesses, and establishments, and bring them to the attention of the public, but also to go back and write follow-up reviews on those places that impressed me the most during 2025, and Rockfish Food & Wine located in the heart of Grandin Village, one of the most desirable neighborhoods in Roanoke, Virginia, is the perfect example of one of them. After making a 5 o'clock reservation on the Toast platform from the restaurant's website, I did some errands and then proceeded to drive to the restaurant located at 1402 Grandin Road. (This is considered the Main Street of this neighborhood) The restaurant's building is located next to a small 7-Eleven, and doesn't have parking, but I found plenty of on-street parking spaces good for an hour or in some cases two, and free after 5 o'clock. I picked one of them and parked my pearl white Lexus there. When I entered the restaurant, a young, elegant lady greeted and welcomed me behind the Host's station. Soon after she took me to the requested booth, I found out her name was Kayla and she would be my server. While I was reviewing the menu, she brought me a carafe of cold water with a glass, and a small dish with slices of a baguette and butter. She then took my order. To drink, besides the water, I ordered a Strawberry Fields Mocktail. It had just the right taste and was brought to my table by the bartender herself. To dine I started off with a Crispy Oysters appetizer which was delicious. Followed by a Dinner Mixed Green Salad, which was one of the most delicious salads I've ever had at a restaurant. It had many ingredients and tasted amazingly delicious. For my main entrée I had their Ribeye Filet Au Poivre median rare. It came served with roasted mushrooms, green beans, and cheesy mashed potatoes, and was cooked medium-rare just as I ordered it. I invite you to view my photographs accompanying this review to get a better sense of the place and the high-quality food. My server provided exceptional customer service, filling my glass with water, and pointing me out the restaurant's owner who was an elegantly dressed, distinguish looking lady with lots of charm and a great personality, who had moved here with her husband and co-owner from California's central coast with a vision of creating a fine-dining restaurant which they felt the local area needed. I also found out through my server that every Thursday the restaurant had live Jazz music to a full house audience, and I would need to make reservations early. Seated at the table next to mine were a distinguished looking couple which I established conversation with and found out that the lady was Dr. Laura Treanor, the fifth president of Virginia Western Community College, who began her term on July 1, 2025. She had succeeded Dr. Robert "Bobby" Sandel, who retired after over two decades of service, and is leading the college with a focus on institutional effectiveness, instructional quality, and student success. For dessert I had their Vanilla Cheesecake with mixed berry sauce, which had missing the fresh berries described on the menu. I had just had such an extraordinary dining experience that I didn't even mention it. Before leaving and after paying the bill with my Harvard Alumni World Mastercard, I had the opportunity of meeting the founder and co-owner of the restaurant, Olivia, and thanking her and her husband for such a wonderful dining experience I had today and always whenever I dine there.

Going back to this restaurant after the great honor that I had received from Yelp, made me recall the first time that I dined here. I invite you that after reading this review, you go back and read that one, and view my photographs accompanying it, because it's one of which I am most proud of, and an experience that I will never forget and forever cherish. I arrived at the restaurant on time at five o'clock sharp and as I waited for them to open I had an opportunity to meet and chat with a couple who had been loyal customers of this restaurant for years since it first opened. They, as well as I, were aware of the beautiful location of the restaurant on one of the most exclusive neighborhoods of Roanoke. As soon as the doors opened, I allowed them to enter first and then when the host came back she gave me a warm and friendly greeting, welcoming me back, and took me to an ideal table, where I had a perfect view of the entire restaurant, from their open kitchen, to their bar, to the entire dining room and entrance, allowing me to capture in photographs the real feel of the ambiance of this cozy, yet elegant, upscale Southern, New-American restaurant known for its scratch-made dishes using locally-sourced, seasonal ingredients, including house-cured meats and pickled vegetables, as well as very creative cocktails. Shortly after I was seated, my delightful server Caroline arrived, and after a warm greeting took my order. To drink I order their Strawberry Fields Forever Mocktail. As appetizer I ordered a half dozen Oysters together with their famous Oyster Wraps. And as my main entrée, the Painted Hills Filet, cooked medium-rare. All the staff seemed so happy to see me and the manager came by to say hello and congratulate me for my outstanding Yelp accomplishment of 2025. My excellent server made sure that my order was well-paced, came by at the appropriate times to fill my glass with water and see if all was to my liking. Everything tasted amazingly delicious. Starting from the unique taste of my creative mocktail, to my flavorful appetizer, to my exquisite Filet main entrée that was so tender and cooked just right. The chefs in this fine dining restaurant are amazing and the quality of their meats is top notch. For dessert I had one of my favorite desserts, since I first had it there, their Dark Chocolate Panna Cotta. This dessert is absolutely mouthwatering. What an extraordinary dining experience I once again had there. Fine dining at its best. For those very special occasions, I highly recommend this restaurant. Or you can always make any day special, by dining there.

The food comes out fairly quick, the menu is concentrated while still offering a large variety of options. The cocktails are good, though neither of us ordered from the cocktail menu, they have a full bar so you can order whatever you please. Service could be a little more vocal/communicative but it seems staff is perhaps limited? It was good but there's room for moderate improvement for sure. The Chicken Liver Mousse was absolutely amazing and I'd return again and again specifically for this dish (go ahead and order extra bread to come with it)!!

However we recently took the time to try it out and we were pleased with both the service and the food! It was on a Saturday afternoon that we decided to try it out, no wait time, we were immediately seated at a booth. Everything looked clean, there were several families already dining. Definitely family friendly! We ordered Combo D with extra potatoes and extra corn and we also decided to add noodles. We went with Original Cajun Seasoning Mild (just because the hubby can't take it spicier ) guys, it was seasoned right, not too salty, very buttery, so delicious! We also ordered the fried calamari, it was absolutely crunchy and delicious, loved that it comes with 2 different dipping sauces. This place is a must try if you like seafood! There's alot on the menu we have yet to try but we definitely liked this place! Will be coming back

The medium was great.

After having been selected as number 4 of Yelp's Top 50 most prolific Elites of 2025, a year when I also was awarded the Yelp Triad Squad Photographer of the Year Award at their Yelpies 2025 Award Ceremony, an event that honored the highest-performing Yelp Elites, and where last year I was awarded the Yelp Triad Squad Yelper of the Year Award, I decided that this year, as an All-Star Yelp Elite, I not only wanted to be the first to discover new restaurants and bring them to the attention of the public, but also to return to those special ones, that have made a difference in my life and highlight them, for the benefit of the public, so they too can have an opportunity to appreciate the qualities of a one-of-a-kind fine dining experience. And Bernard's Gastropub & Eatery in Downtown Roanoke, is a perfect example. Bernard's was born out of the love of two culinary aficionados turned professionals that in someway have managed to create a restaurant with an environment that transmits this intimate love to the hearts of their customers through the attention to detail in its extraordinary customer service and amazing culinary masterpieces. Today, I felt like dining at this restaurant, which I admire for its consistency in always far exceeding my high expectations of what a fine-dining restaurant should be all about. Not knowing if they would have a table for me at this late time on a Saturday early evening, I drove in my pearl white Lexus to the nearest private parking lot and gave them a call to inquire as if they could give me a reservation for the next ten minutes. A gentleman, who later I found out was named Matthew, and would be my server, answered the phone with a very polite and welcoming voice; answering my question of what was the special dish of the day and to come on down, that my reservation was assured. As soon as I arrived to the small, very elegant foyer in front of the Host's station, he came out to greet me and instantly recognized who I was. My only request was that he give me a low table because at my age seating at a high table was a bit uncomfortable. He went back to see what he could find and ended setting me up with what I consider one of the best tables of the house, and I was so appreciative of his last minute accommodation. The menu was already setup on my table. He poured water from a special bottle into my water glass and asked if I wanted something else to drink. I asked for a Mocktail and since he also was a bartender, he prepared me one of the best mocktails I've ever had. To dine, I started out with their Mussels Carbonara appetizer, which came in a bacon parmesan cream sauce that was simply amazing, and served with toast points. As my main entrée I had the Dinner Special of the Night, the Seafood Trio. It had a delicious, giant size crab cake in the middle, scallops, and shrimps, with parmesan risotto sautéed heirloom tomato, spinach, and nice size asparagus, with a burre blanc sauce. I invite you to view my photographs accompanying this review to get a better sense of the high-quality of their food and magnificent ambiance of the place. Everything was so delicious that only one word could ever describe them: priceless! For dessert I had their very famous Butterscotch Banana Pudding, which the chef makes at the moment ordered. It looked spectacular and tasted amazingly delicious: a culinary work of art. What a great way for the Gran Finale of an extraordinary dining experience!

This very popular upscale steakhouse and seafood restaurant is well known for its scenic mountain views, and a place to go for special occasions. I remember the very first time I visited this restaurant to enjoy the view, it won me over with its exquisite food cooked to perfection. So much so that the manager invited the executive chef to come to my table so that I could meet him personally and complement him for his extraordinary cuisine. It was so good that for three weeks straight I dined there and every time I was more and more impressed than the other. I invite you to read my first review and view my photographs accompanying that review, right after you finish this one to get the sence of awe I felt from the experience and culinary masterpieces. I have celebrated my birthday there on one occasion, and have dined there to celebrate special occasions, but to me, I can make any day of the year special just by dining there. This Wednesday I made a reservation for 5:00pm and drove in my Lexus up the hill to the restaurant. You know, "OTH" stands for On the Hill. When I arrived, the host gave me a warm welcome and took me to my table, with a magnificent window view of the mountain and the city below. During this time of the year, I would be able to watch the sunset as I was dining. Soon after I sat down, my friendly server, Rhiannon, came by to greet me and take my order. To drink I ordered the Winter Fizz Mocktail. For appetizer, I ordered from the Raw Bar, the Classic Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail. And for my main entrée, I ordered the 8 oz Filet Mignon cooked medium rare & Lobster Tail. The steaks here are so soft and tender along with the Lobster tails, which beside being the freshest, they are also the largest around. As I waited, they brought me a basket with delicious freshly made small breads with soft whipped butter. To me, one can tell the quality of a restaurant by the bread & butter they serve. The Winter Fizz Mocktail was amazing. It tasted fruity and refreshing. When the Jumbo Shrimps arrived, they were so fresh and plumpy, and truly Jumbo. And with the cocktail sauce, they tasted delightful. The Lobster was cooked just right, then the meat was brought out of the shell for easy handling. I could taste the freshness of the Lobster meat dipped in the melted butter. The Filet was soft and tender, cooked as ordered, medium rare, to perfection. And even the baked potato with butter on top was soft and easy to take out of the peal. My waitress came by at the right times to check on me. What I did miss was the general manager, visiting my table. I found out that this evening he wasn't there, but they had another shift manager which they brought in from Billy's Restaurant. It was not the same not having him come up to my table to chat with me. This goes to tell you the importance to details, even of the management of a restaurant and the relationship they have with their customers. For dessert I had their Keylime Pie made in-house. The chef outdid himself with a wonderful presentation of the dessert. You have to view the photograph to believe it. It was so good, you can almost taste it with your eyes. Overall, once again I had an extraordinary dining experience here. This time, even the Sun graced me with providing me with a view of a beautiful sunset.

When you walk in there's a kid in tennis shoes escorting us to our table and the table isn't even set for our reservation and we stand there and wait for 5 minutes. The fake candle, salt, and pepper are laying in the chair and we're left in the middle of the dining room for everyone to look at us like we're the crazy ones. Felt like going to a chain restaurant. The food was okay, but not for the price tag. I got the Shrimp Cocktail. The ice was melting to the point that there was a pool of water as I received the dish. The cocktail sauce itself was so thick you had to use your fork (you had two identical forks not a salad and dinner fork). My wife got the Crab dip. The dip was mostly cheese, if nobody told you that it was crab dip you wouldn't know. The server, Chris, was so overwhelmed having two tables that he had to be requested to return to our table just to refill drinks which were empty throughout the meal. For our entree's my wife got the seafood pasta which was so overpriced it was laughable. 4 small/medium shrimp, two clams, and two scallops. It's sad you can count the pieces. Chris, attempting some showmanship made an elaborate to-do about bringing the steak knife out with sound effects and all. (It was a cheap aluminum, one piece, steak knife.) I got the filet, lobster tail, and added scallops. The filet came out the right temp but there was no seasoning of the meat at all, the lobster tail was good, and the scallops were okay. I added the truffle butter to the steak which looked like a sad dollop and added no flavor to the meat at all. I guess to make amends for his poor service, Chris offered dessert as it was our anniversary and we got the cheesecake. It was some out of the box cheesecake with a smearing of fruit something, half a strawberry, two blueberries, and two dollops of, I assume, fresh whipped cream. Never in my life, even if you pay me to go back, will I ever visit again. Thankfully my company more than made up for the poor service, mediocre food, and steep bill.
