    Sliced brisket and Turkey sandwich
    John C.

This is a hidden gem!! Called ahead to order the sliced brisket and turkey sandwich with pickles and onions. The brisket and turkey were both very moist and flavorful. Lots of meat on the sandwich and was good for 2 meals. Baby back ribs were very Smokey and flavorful. Great as a snack with the sandwich !! The BBQ sauce is also very good! I love stopping here for great to go BBQ!!

Will start off by saying you're most likely not going to beat the price for BBQ around this area unless you go to a fast food spot. As always I got the brisket and ribs, and decided to try the potato salad. They made it pretty easy with a simple menu! The ribs were different than what I'm use to. Definitely follow off the phone and great flavor. There wasn't a typical bark that you would see on the ribs, and almost reminded me of the thin layer texture I'd see on a fried pork dish. The brisket didn't have a large bark either, but maintained a good texture and required just a little bit of BBQ sauce. Definitely would recommend coming here if you have a BBQ craving, want some good cut of meats, and at affordable prices.

The best chopped beef brisket BBQ in Texas, and absolutely loaded with flavorful moist meat. It was so good I had to bring one home for my wife. For a flat $10 you get a huge sandwich, choice of chips, and two Oreo cookies. My daughter had the sliced turkey which was tender and moist also, she loved it! We have been calling and stopping by and finally found out that they are only open Friday's and Saturday's from 11:00 am to 6 pm. We will be brining all our out of state visitors here for real authentic Texas chopped brisket.

Lean brisket with turkey, cole slaw, and beans

We were craving some BBQ in the middle of a day of shopping, and 401k popped up in our Google search. We love to try little one-off places since they usually have the best food, and headed down Plano Pkwy to 401k. The turn is easy to miss! We actually had to back up a little to make the turn because we almost went right past. The shack is in the lot of a garden center type business. Parking is open, which was a little confusing but at least there is somewhere to park, right? It was pretty chilly that day, so there was no one else there when we arrived, although 2 other orders were placed while we were there. The menu is very simple, and very reasonably priced. We got brisket (lean), turkey, spicy sausage, and beans, potato salad, and cole slaw. Everything except the turkey was exceptionally good! The brisket was something special, and it was so tender it turned to chopped brisket if you touched it with a fork! The sausage was some of the best we've had as well. Skip the turkey, it had a rubbery texture and very little flavor. It was better after sitting in a pool of bbq sauce in the fridge for a few days, lol. Don't come here in a hurry, cause even though they were not busy it took a good 15 minutes or so before our plates were ready. That wouldn't seem like very long, but it's bbq, so it's already cooked...plus it wasy pretty cold and there is only outside seating. Anyway, I think we've found our new spot whenever we are up by NFM! They have very limited hours, so be aware they are only open on weekends.

I will say, the sides i have had are decent but not great, the meat is the main star but I need the sides to be slightly better co stars. The potato salad isnt bad though. Service is great! My friends really enjoyed themselves. We all love a good time and good deals! For food we tried the cheeseburger and smoked wings on the happy hour menu. The Cheeseburger was tasty. The cheese was melted perfectly. One note the burger has way too much lettuce. The tomatoes, onions and pickles were the perfect combination. The burger is huge and I suggest sharing it. The smoked wings were ok for me. I appreciated they gave you BBQ Sauce, Ranch and Hot Sauce. This is good for sharing too as the smoked flavor can become overwhelming. Drinks were great! I tried a few different cocktails. The Pineapple Martini was good, but slightly too sweet. The Margarita was good and the Spicy Jalapeño Margarita was great. I enjoyed the flavor and heat of the spicy margarita best. The bartenders were great. The atmosphere was cool and laid back. Service was good and prompt. I liked the variety of seating. They have couches and that makes it cozy. A patio for warm weather. So I will definitely be adding them to my happy hour rotation. I also would like to come back and try their ribs or nachos. Plus a few other cocktails! I left feeling satisfied and content.

After getting inside I could tell why. The BBQ smell hits you as you open the door and it smelled sooooo good. They had a giant menu written onto the wall. Some of the meats were sold out. We debated for a bit and then decided to do a group order. Our Group of 7 people ordered the Cattleleack Platter and sides of burnt end beans, potato salad, cole slaw, and Mac and cheese. Oh and don't forget to ask for cornbread too. Inside tey had large tables and benches to sit at and we secured our spot. The food was delicous. The Beef Rib was huge and melted in my mouth. The brisket was amazing and seasoned well. Everything tasted great. Everyone ate til they were full and we still had leftovers. I ate them later at night and they were still good. The pitmaster (a great follow on Instagram) continues to work his magic and create creative dishes that pair flavors from his home country with Texas smoke. My Overall Rating - 3 1/2 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - Kafi has undergone a makeover! Gone is the mural with the Wagyu cow. It's been replaced with a natural wood wall that also extends to the line. At the end of the line is what you came for, smoked brisket, back ribs, and more under a heat lamp (more on this later). Kafi BBQ keeps the hookah friendly outdoor space, the red (and comfortable) booth seating, and the smell of smoked wood. 1 Star. Service - The staff is great. Once it's your turn, they will slice your meat to order. I forgot to ask for fatty brisket the last time I went, and they were nice enough to slice it for me. Once your meat is weighed, you get your sides and desserts. Great system - I hope they don't change a thing. 1 Star, Food - I think I figured out why each of my visits to Kafi BBQ haven't been as good as others'. Because the next day when I heat up my leftovers, the brisket is amazing. Kafi BBQ's food sits under a heat lamp. If you visit later in the day when the brisket and ribs have been sitting out, your meat will be dry. All my visits have been the same, and I had to dip it in BBQ sauce (you may or may not like it). Same goes for the sides, the fries sound amazing, but each time I ordered them they had been sitting out. Now, the next day when I reheat the brisket (put it in an oven for 45 min at 225 degrees), it's some of the best brisket in all of North Texas. Heads up! Wagyu brisket comes at a price. I usually spend $100+ for me and my son. 1/2 Star. Will I Return? - Yes. Salahodeen continues to hone this craft. Each visit continues to offer a new experience. While Kafi BBQ is only open Thursday - Sunday, it's still one of the most unique Texas-style BBQ joints (with a Halal twist) in all of North Texas. 1 Star.
