Menu - Sushi

What a pleasant surprise to finally find Kimbap (and so much more) close enough to run out for pickup during weekday work lunch. The kimbap options are 50/50 vegetarian & meat/seafood with options for a variety of tastes and dietary requirements. Clean, friendly and quick service. Now I'm tempted to try everything on the menu as a weekly treat

Deep fried chicken and veggie potstickers

I enjoy hole in the wall cafes like this Came here since the reviews were good and we wanted to try something new. Place is tucked away in a plaza with a big sign advertising lawyers and other specialists. Place looks like a small house, with a few seats inside. You order at the counter, menus are on full display and lots of options are available. The place is a mom and pop operation, with the lady making the helm while the guy does the cooking. The food is awesome, well done and cooked properly. For negatives, the potstickers were deef fried rather than pan fried. That and the Korean fried chicken wasn't tempura battered and seemed frozen. The flavors were solid and well done. The spicy Kani salad and the special roll had a good spice kick to them. The flavors were pronounced and not overwhelming. Everything was done well and tasted awesome. I will be back again, and if you're in the area this is a very valid option to choose

BT Curry Rice
Max C.

As a Korean, I am very picky with Korean foods. This place was good and had great flavors and most importantly, great quality. I had the privilege of having the BT Curry Rice and what I liked about this menu was tasting different proteins (pork katsu, shrimp tempuras, and a sausage). Curry had great flavor as well. I would give 5 stars but the location seems to be out of place. I wish this place was more known to others who live near Vernon area. Overall, very satisfied and will be back!

Chicken Cutlet Curry Rice & Dynamite roll

The owners were sweet. Food was great! I was surprised by how much sushi they gave us. Usually, I only get 6 pieces at other places. Definitely get the dynamite roll if you're feeling spicy !

Chicken Loco moco

So good- the food at this place is delicious and top notch! The owners are so sweet and always spot on with pick up times. We love getting the Loco moco and the spicy Korean BBQ sandwich. If you want some awesome food, definitely stop in!

This spot hidden in the cut behind the beat and path is gotta be this town's hidden gem!! I got the curry chicken topped with a fried egg was my first having this combo and can't wait for my next experience here. Full of flavor in every bite. The roll is called out of control & it is!!

What an excellent find. It's a small cafe with limited menu however what is offered is done very well. We arrived early so we were the only ones there. The owner was friendly and guide us as we explored the menu. We had the chicken ramen (option of mild or spicy; choose the spicy, of course) and beef loco moco and bubble tea (mango and coffee flavors). The ramen was big, rich broth, fresh vegetables, and right noodle consistency and overall balanced. My son enjoyed the loco moco and was obsessed with the sauce (gravy) and devoured the whole thing. The only somewhat complaint was that the mango bubble tea didn't taste of mango but more of vanilla. Other than that the whole experience was wonderful. This is a very small cafe, and a little hard to find. Parking is available in the back but there was a big sign to guide you. It is BYOB if you are coming for dinner. My son kept on mentioning that it was like you went to someone's house and had a great meal. Again, what a great find and will be returning to try on the rest of the menu.

Consistently excellent and fresh. Spring for the Fantasy Platter. You'll be glad you did.

The restaurant was clean as always with a nice ambiance. The servers were all so sweet and helpful. We ordered miso soup to start. It's a favorite that is consistently excellent. I ordered udon noodles with veggies and my friend ordered soba noodles with veggies. Both of us loved our meals! They were hot and delicious. For dessert we got the tempura cheesecake. Wow! Beautiful presentation and tasted creamy and not too sweet. The tempura was a bit challenging to cut with our spoons but it was worth the struggle. This is one of my favorite restaurants and I'm so happy to see that they are doing well!

Everything about this meal was perfect, from start to finish. We were seated immediately despite it being quite busy. Enjoyed a bottle of Josh Cabernet for an incredibly reasonable price. My partner's meal arrived fresh and piping hot -- my sushi arrived beautifully arranged (with the CUTEST soy sauce plate art!). We even made friends with our table-neighbors. I cannot express to the Yelp community enough how incredible this restaurant is. You can always rely on Umami for deliciousness, consistency, and hospitality. Xoxoxo Umami has our hearts forever!

I'm back! The restaurant is located on 415 Hartford Tpke in Vernon, CT. When it comes to Japanese…read morefood, this is a favorite of mine. It has a very "family" feel to it. Oh my! New menus! These haven't changed in years (decades). A couple ice waters quick to show up! For my first drink? I'm having a French Martini made with Grey Goose vodka, Chambord and a splash of pineapple juice. This is good! It is a well balanced drink. They don't garnish here so I know what I'm getting. They also use medium sized martini glasses (not the small ones). For my first item, I'm having the House Green Salad. This is made with iceberg lettuce, cucumbers and tomatoes. I LOVE their ginger dressing! I like the soothing music here. This salad is awesome! My friend is getting the Kani (crab). Wow! Look at that masterpiece! I think he got an upgrade! Out comes a random complementary sushi. It looks like tuna with cream cheese and avocado. This is delicious! I love pickled ginger and lots of wasabi. That's hits your nose hard! For my next item, I'm having a miso soup. This is the lowest price I've ever seen ($2.85). It is a soybean soup made with tofu, scallions and seaweed. Miso soup is a traditional Japanese soup made from a dashi stock mixed with miso paste, a fermented soybean paste, giving it a savory, umami flavor. Key ingredients often include tofu, seaweed (wakame), and scallions, but it can be customized with mushrooms, clams, or other additions. It's served hot, typically as part of a traditional Japanese meal, and should not be boiled after adding the miso to preserve its flavor and nutrients. This is hot and steamy. It is delicious! For my next item, I'm having the Seaweed Salad. Japanese seaweed salad (often called wakame salad) is a vibrant, refreshing, and umami-packed dish. It is made by rehydrating dried seaweed, tossing it with a vinaigrette made of sesame oil, soy sauce, and rice vinegar, and garnishing it with sesame seeds. I love this stiff although it sticks to your teeth sometimes. It is quite chilled. For my next item, I'm having edamame. These are a superfood. Boiled soybeans with salt! Edamame is a Japanese dish of young soybeans, typically boiled or steamed in the pod and served as a snack or appetizer, often with salt. It can also be prepared shelled (mukimame) and seasoned in various ways, such as with garlic, soy sauce, chili, or sesame oil, and served warm or cold in salads. The beans are known for being a protein-rich, healthy, and versatile ingredient. These are an absolutely delicious! For my next drink, I am having a Strawberry Martini made with Svensk Wild Strawberry vodka, sweet vermouth and a splash of strawberry liqueur. Oh wow! This is good! Yes, you can taste the alcohol here! These edamame are good! No shortage of salt here either! For my next food item, I'm having the Tuna Nuts made with thinly sliced seared tuna served with raw seaweed and a sweet miso paste. It normally cones with scallions too. We'll see. This is good! It's might and easy to eat. Yummy! Our comes a spice tuna avocado ball AND a no rice sushi dish! This is amazing! There is NO place like this! For my next item, I'm having the Ikura (A La Carte menu). Ikura is the Japanese term for cured salmon roe (fish eggs). Prized for its vibrant orange color and signature "pop," the individual eggs are typically marinated in a soy sauce, sake, and mirin brine. It is most commonly served atop vinegared rice wrapped in a strip of nori seaweed (known as gunkan maki) or over a bowl of rice (ikura don). This is a taste of the ocean! Cucumber, no rice. It's a must when coming here! The wasabi is wicked strong! It was just made today! I love this! On my For my next item, I'm having the Spicy Crab and Mango made with snow crab, mango, avocado and cucumber. My friend is having the Spicy Crunchy Scallops hand roll. These are sushi snow cones. For my next drink, I am having g a Watermelon Martini made with Bacardi Light Malibu Coconut, pineapple juice and a splash of mango schnapps. Oh yeah! This is good! Strong too! What a unique drink! This has a maraschino cherry garnish too! OMG! For dessert, I'm having the Fried Crispy Banana and Fried Ice Cream. Yeah, right. Let's see what REALLY comes out! OMG! This is IMPOSSIBLE to finish! Look at this monster! Tiramisu?! This is quite unique! Wow! My sister is ordering the Chicken with lemongrass to go and I'm ordering a quart of hibachi soup to go. This place is the bomb! We all ordered hibachi - different varieties. The soup and salad are both good starters. Love that they give you lots of that delicious ginger salad dressing! I got steak & chicken. The chicken was especially tender and mouth watering. Steak also very good. I ordered it medium rare and asked for extra teriyaki sauce once it was on my plate. Delicious! I also like that both fried rice AND lo mein noodles are included with the meal as is shrimp appetizer other hibachi restaurants charge e tea for this. Service was friendly and efficient. A better than expected all you can eat locale…read more Came here because it was close by and they recently revamped their dine in to include boba tea and an all you can eat sushi and Chinese menu. Decided to give it a try and see how things turned out. Inside is clean and decorated well. Staff was very friendly and attentive. We told them we were doing the all you can eat, and got our ordering menu. Interestingly, they included boba tea as an option on the all you can eat menu. so we got drinks to try. They were a little sweet but tasty. We ordered a smattering of bites, with the idea that the plates would be tiny and we could try a bunch. The portions were smaller, but still very massive. There was many times we would take bites and it would look like nothing was eaten. You need to make sure you order light when picking your choices. The bites were seasoned well, tasty, and plentiful. The highlights being the garlic shrimp and the pepper tuna tataki. The sushi rice is seasoned correctly, and the fish was fresh. The taste of the rolls was a little bland, but soy and the wasabi aoli helped out. They do have the stipulation of food waste costing more, so the mass amounts of food did give us pause. The server assured us that there would not be any charges as they figure out how to portion. But it did limit our ordering. For the price, the quality is actually pretty good. It's pricy for the area, but you're not going to go hungry. If you get a chance to try them, they are a great option for a meal. It's not worthy of a trek, but versus other restaurants of that style you would be hard pressed to find better.

For the #5 review of the 9 CT Lobster Rolls I tried throughout the summer of 2022, we come to a…read moreplace that honestly surprised the heck out of me, Charlie's Fresh Catch, taking the #1 spot of the 6 central CT/Hartford area rolls and #3 of the total 9. Being from the area I must have driven past this place dozens of times without ever even noticing it. It sits just outside "Vernon Center" directly across from what used to be CT Golf Land. Charlie Ballard purchased this place from the previous owner and it's been open since December 2013 and I can't believe it took me almost 10 years to even know it was there. Charlies is a very unique place, like a stand-alone seafood department you'd find in a grocery store but bigger and better. Not only do they carry the basics, they also have things you won't find in a grocery store and a large variety of seafood creations all made right in the store. In fact they have an entire glass case filled with everything from seafood salad, stuffed clams, shrimp and mushrooms to hush puppies, pasta salads and other appetizers. They also have a small selection of produce and large racks of spices, seasonings, batter mixes and more. While they carry some of the major brands they also have their own blends to go along with whatever you're picking up. So much that you might even come out with more than you went in there for. They also carry some of the popular local brands like Hosmer Soda, it's good to see local businesses supporting each other, a win-win in my book. There's also a freezer stocked with soups, pot pies and other prepared seafood (and non-seafood dishes). So much variety that I stopped there at least five times and I feel like I barely made a dent in trying what they have to offer. For the lobster roll it was a tough decision but being the lowest price of all the 9 places I tried it is an incredible value. Served on a 7 inch NE-style hot dog bun they average a little over 6 oz for the whole roll with an average of a little under 3 oz of hot, buttered lobster meat. Probably the closest thing I've found to what you'd get near the shoreline though obviously not as fresh but literally the best one I had of the 6 in the Hartford/central CT area. Small-ish looking but filling and you can't beat the price for what you get They also have a number of other meals for purchase prepared in the store like fish and chips, fried shrimp/clams, fries, hot dogs, chicken tenders and more. The clam chowder is on par with the better ones I've had and has nice chunks of potatoes, clams and vegetable. I still need to go back and try some of the other soups they don't sell hot but keep frozen (lobster bisque). With the holidays approaching I think I may be back once or twice before the end of the year, maybe not for a lobster roll but to sample the great selection they seem to always have. Wish I had found this place years ago, definitely a new repeat customer. Five Stars!!
