My son decided at 14 years old that he would like to try and learn to play the drums. So we purchased him a drum kit, set it up, then looked at each other like "now what?"! Neither of us had any clue how to play so we certainly couldn't help him! I looked into a few different options for drum lessons and stumbled upon 4/4 School of Music, with a location in South Everett that is close to our home and decided to give it a shot. We signed up for weekly half hour sessions with Paul and our son was off and learning fast! We love working with Paul because he's easy-going, really nice and approachable to a teenager, fun to learn from, keeps our son engaged during each session, but is also a little bit strict with him when needed (in a good way) so that he learns proper technique and will spend the time practicing at home. My son has now been a student of his for just over a year and he has learned so much! We can't wait to see what he learns from Paul as we continue our son's enrollment! read more

My kids have been taking piano for 2 years now (Jessica is our teacher), and we love it! The kids are really enjoying the lessons and curriculum. Jessica is sweet and patient, but firm, and doesn't let them slack or continue playing a piece incorrectly (unlike the last teacher we had!). It's never a chore to get them to practice, they're getting challenging and fun pieces to play, and they're learning proper technique as well. My cousin, who is completing his PhD in music(!), was taught with the same set of books and hasn't found a better system. He's so impressed with the kids' progress - I can't think of a more ringing endorsement than that! We are also pleased with the recital opportunities - they're not always convenient (are they ever?!), but 4/4 does a good job and manages to handle the large groups of performers (and parents) efficiently. The kids are so proud to show the work they've done, and performing for an audience helps them to develop confidence. read more

As an adult, I feel so lucky to have found the 4/4 School of music! I am 26 years old and was finally able to cross off my dream of taking voice lessons. In February I will have officially finished my first year! If I could recommend an instructor it would be Jordan. Being an adult I was most nervous about being "too old" and afraid the instructors wouldn't know what to do with me. But Jordan was quick to determine my skill level and supply appropriate lessons for my age. I feel like he takes my goals seriously regardless of my age, and am able to go home after each lesson with more knowledge and technical ability than the last. If the passion for mastering your voice as an instrument is a goal of yours, I highly recommend the 4/4 Music School. First the 4/4 staff is absolutely brilliant and incredibly flexible and easy to work with if you have a strange and hectic schedule like I do and they have always been very accommodating for me. Second I've been taking Bass lessons from Michael @ the Everett location for a few months and he's been fantastic. I've gotten a real healthy dose of theory and form put into very practical and fun lessons. Michael has also done what I really wanted out of lessons which is push me out of my comfort zone and look at music and styles that I normally wouldn't look at on my own. Anyone can sit at home and read tabs, but to have some accountability and a different perspective is what I think you really need to be successful and Michael has done a great job providing that. My 13 year old wanted to resume piano lessons during the pandemic after taking off 4 years for other activities, and we heard good things about 4/4 Zoom lessons with Ms. Youn from a friend. 4/4 has been an exceptional experience for an "advanced beginner" and I have been so happy with both the piano teacher and the Washington office admin team. I was initially skeptical of whether a larger organization could provide personal and flexible service, but it is well-run and has been very responsive to our needs. Ms. Youn is passionate about teaching and demonstrates genuine care for her students: She is a great motivating combination of lecture, high expectations, discipline, life lessons all balanced with encouragement and belief in her students. My 10 year old son has lessons with Alina at the Everett school. Alina is very proficient on piano and a wonderful teacher. She seems to genuinely love kids and explains things in a way that they can understand. She always pushes just the right amount so the my son can be inspired to improve himself with out becoming frustrated. He always has fun at his lessons which goes a long way towards sticking with it. Alina will also encourage the students to do the recitals and will be there with them for encouragement the whole time (which makes for a long day as she has lots of students). The school itself is also excellent, the staff is friendly and the customer service emails are answered very promptly and they will always take care of you. read more

My entire family enrolled at 4/4 School of Music to challenge ourselves to learn a new skill: our daughter tackled the ukelele, my wife took piano lessons, and dad went way outside his comfort zone with voice lessons. It was a fantastic experience. All three teachers were professional and knowledgeable, and kept it fun while introducing new techniques and skills each week to meet our individual goals. We all made great progress in a short time. Two of us have even shifted to new instruments as our skills and interest have developed. 4/4 is an amazing music school. My son started piano lessons last year and absolutely loves it. Elizabeth Hile is his teacher, she has a masters in music composition and is great with kids. She is super smart but comes across incredibly humble and kind. My son looks forward to his lessons and in less than a year he has moved up 3 books. I enjoy listening to him play. Last month they put on a recital, it was so professional and all of the kids got a certificate and a ribbon. Bonnie in the office has helped me so much, her quick response and eagerness to help is much appreciated. 4/4 School is a great Music School! I decided to start learning the drums recently as an adult and took lessons with Paul in Everett. I had tried another local school and was not happy with the instructor. Paul is a very good teacher who is patient and talented, and makes learning fun! I thought it would be difficult to learn at my age but he made me feel confident and that I could definitely do it. Also, the administrative staff is very nice and very accommodating, I highly recommend Paul and the 4/4 School of music to learn music at any age, whether you are a beginner or more advanced. read more

All teachers are amazing and my kids enjoy learning music there. Austin is an excellent guitar teacher and my daughter has been improved a lot for a little less than a year guitar lessons with him. Emily is my daughter's voice teacher and she has a great technique to learn how to sing in fun way. My son will start a drum lesson with Paul shortly and cannot wait to see the improvement. My son started his ukulele lessons with Teacher Curtis and then transferred to Teacher Benji at the Everett location (after Curtis took a different job out of state). Benji made the transition easy and comfortable for my son. He listened and learned to what my son's music interests were and worked with him on building his skill from there. From Halo themed music to Bruno Mars - the lessons were always fun for my son. Also, Lexi is a great office manager and always made scheduling and communication easy for us. read more

My music teacher, Austin Schuyler, is great to work with. Here is great place to learn music. I had been taking vocal lesson to improve my English skill, pronunciation and speaking, listening. Teacher Erica is so nice and kind. I'm Japanese so English pronunciation is very difficult for me. But she told me so kindly how to pronounce and what is the different point speaking and singing. My son started learning piano with Emily Herivel at Mill Creek location since we moved to Mill Creek 5 years ago. My son easily lose temper when he couldn't get it immediately. Emily is so patient with him. We watched him getting better and better. He enjoys the piano lessons with Emily, and now he can play songs from video games or music in his head. We have been so lucky to have found Curtis at 4/4 School of Music. He has been teaching our son acoustic guitar for the last two years and it has been the best experience. My son looks forward to his lesson every week because Curtis always engages him with what he's interested in and keeps him challenged. My daughter (7 yr old) had Emily as a piano instructor and made huge progress in learning music (we are not musically inclined parents) and proper piano technique.
