We were required in elementary school to take part in the school band or orchestra for 5th grade with 6th grade optional (I took part both full academic years: 2002 to 2004), so with an older sibling and me, my parents were looking for reliable music stores. There was a Kennelly Keys close to the house, as well as this Kennelly Keys, that we habitually frequented. This was our destination for questions needing further answering and products not available closer to the house. Workers were friendly and the store well organized. When choosing my musical instrument for band, I decided I wanted to play the alto saxophone. My parents were okay with my choice so long as it was not as pricey as my sister's cello. On one of our visits to this location, the store was having a big sale on used instruments and they had a working alto saxophone available for a good deal. So, I got my first alto saxophone that day. I used it for both years and held on to it for a while before eventually parting with it. It worked well and served its purpose reliably.

It's never too late, or too early. Ms. Kibbe and her staff are unfailingly gracious, gifted at and clearly enjoy teaching music. Ms. Kibbe's sincere interest and delight in teaching is refreshing. She is a gifted musician, inspiring her students with demonstrations of beautiful violin and viola music, good humor and productive instruction. Her knowledge, teaching ability, sincere kindness, patience, insight and interest in each student are only surpassed by her love of children, commitment to their development and her ability to encourage and gift the joy of music. Not an old ladies house teaching old school tunes with no advancement, or a fancy place that charges you an arm and a leg for lessons. Mila teaches out of a super cute studio, she is so kind and patient and actually expresses a genuine interest in your learning. I really like that she has an educational university level background in Piano and Music and doesn't just teach you piano songs back to back. (Like the teachers I had growing up). She delves into music theory, history, composition, form, sight reading, ear training etc. it really makes the learning effective and long term. She continuously updates her curriculums to new techniques and keeps up with modern pieces. She even offers educational music group classes for toddlers while also ranging to adult students. She is very organized has great communication, not sure what the other review was talking about, they probably just didn't read her payment setup which is super easy and convenient. She stays up to date with all of her students and will always answer questions about her policies. I have learned so much from Mila, she is an incredible piano teacher.

I used to…read morewait outside during lessons, but one day as I noticed my son was down and even looked sad after lessons, I started sit in at the lesson room. Then I saw when he made mistakes or struggled with new music, Mrs. Renny would sigh, scoff, or speak to him in a frustrated tone. On the day i decided to quit, when my son kept missing the tempo on the new piece he started, I saw her tap him on the forehead in frustration--completely unprofessional behavior. If you do choose her, I strongly recommend staying in the room during lessons to protect your child and observe how she treats your child. We've since switched to new teachers for two quarters now. and we are much happier, with positive experiences in great teaching and support, festivals and well organized recitals.
