I chose Mrs. Renny based on those old reviews and photos. At first, things went fine. I used to wait outside during lessons, but one day as I noticed my son was down and even looked sad after lessons, I started sit in at the lesson room. Then I saw when he made mistakes or struggled with new music, Mrs. Renny would sigh, scoff, or speak to him in a frustrated tone. On the day i decided to quit, when my son kept missing the tempo on the new piece he started, I saw her tap him on the forehead in frustration--completely unprofessional behavior. If you do choose her, I strongly recommend staying in the room during lessons to protect your child and observe how she treats your child. We've since switched to new teachers for two quarters now. and we are much happier, with positive experiences in great teaching and support, festivals and well organized recitals. read more

Ms. Renny is DA BEST. She was my piano teacher back in LA. Although I didn't practice that much cuz I was lazy and was busy binging kdramas and anime, I still elevated my piano game cuz Renny built different. (u should practice tho; i was an undisciplined 12 yr old) My lil brother, on the other hand, never practiced until he had Ms. Renny. He had intrinsic motivation cuz of her:) I still remember laughing our booties off bc I said that the "x" (double sharp) is where the treasure is. I have been learning piano w/ Renny for two years now. Renny is a talented pianist, and she pays huge attention to details when it comes to teaching. She is very patient explaining the techniques, not only how, but in length as to why it is applied here and where else it can be applicable. Also she is very sharp figuring out the problems in my play, and gives me a lot tips how to overcome the issue. My kids had played for 4 years with a different teacher prior to this. Renny started by correcting their hand positions and started them on scales. Her focus on both technique and musicality is truly one-of-a-kind. Renny is extremely passionate, dedicated and detail-oriented. She is completely focused on the child's progress and brings a lot of energy to all her classes. She is not only a great player but also a great teacher. She always finds ways to help kids overcome technical challenges by giving them strategies to practice or to memorize. She has ways to teach theory that kids actually understand (vs just memorize). Although through remote learning, my son achieved his first RCM exam with first class honor.
