Andrew Bushnell, his violin teacher, was excellent. He guided our son thoughtfully through his lessons and kept us informed every step of the way -- explaining how our son was progressing and what the next steps should look like. That kind of communication made a real difference as parents. When our son decided he wanted to learn piano, we switched him to Mrs. Lana Kebets. Unfortunately, that experience didn't go as well. She strongly insisted that we purchase an acoustic piano, which ended up costing us thousands of dollars -- guidance we later felt was unnecessary for a beginner. She was also frequently about 5 minutes late to lessons, and overall it didn't feel like she was well-suited to teaching young children. Our son was only 5 at the time, and the approach wasn't a good fit for a child that age. We'd recommend Andrew without hesitation, but would suggest parents of very young children think carefully before choosing a piano teacher here.

I understand some Mandarin and my husband does not speak Chinese - as a result, we don't speak Chinese at home. However, our son has learned a tremendous amount in both verbal and written Chinese under Michelle! Michelle is a wonderful, enthusiastic teacher with decades of experience in teaching. She makes learning Chinese fun and engaging for the kids! Nathaniel enthusiastically looks forward to learning Chinese under Michelle and is proud of the progress he has made thus far! It is highly gratifying to hear our son happily share with us new vocabulary he has learned or excitedly point out Chinese characters he recognizes when he spots it outside of class. Michelle's Chinese lessons are highly interactive and perfectly paced as she customizes weekly lessons according to how the class is progressing. Students are taught verbal and written Chinese through stimulating songs, games, homework and various other fun activities. We attended many other Chinese classes around the Seattle/Eastside area but Michelle Sun's class is the best! Mrs. Sun has done a great job encouraging our kids in their studies by instituting games to make studying more rewarding and fun. While Mrs. Sun pushes the kids to perform, she's also understanding that beginners can sometimes get discouraged and responds very well to make sure they aren't overburdened. The classroom is inviting and class sizes are small...perfect for giving the attention kids need in learning a difficult language like Mandarin.
