I have been taking drum lessons from Michael Herbert at both the Bothell and the MillCreek/Everett locations since April 2022 (7 months at this point) and I am so impressed with both Michael and with 4/4 school of music. I started as a beginner (with previous piano/choir experience in high school) and I am now at the point where I can confidently play a good selection of popular songs and I'm looking to start a band (it may be premature, but one can dream!) Michael is very kind and personable. He is a fantastic drummer and has much formal training and teaching experience in music education. He encourages my exploration in all drumming avenues and allowing me to take my lessons in the direction I would like to take them. He is always open to answering any questions I have about drum equipment and music production as well. Talented teachers and supportive environment is what 4/4 music brings to the table. Katya has been teaching my daughter piano for 6 months and I can't believe how much my six year-old has progressed. She used to be a typical key banger and now she is sits at the piano with her lesson book and actually practices without too much bother from her parents. (A little at first and now, very little.) Before when sent to bed, she'd be a bother about being bored or can't sleep. Now she sees her piano and plays music she makes up on her own, and it comes out with reasonable timing and pitches. The biggest problem my wife and I have is not knowing whether to interrupt her and get her in bed, or leave her be to play on her own. For us, 4/4 Music is an extension of our social circle. As a parent, and although I'm not taking lessons, I enjoy talking with other friends I've made at the studio (other parents, other teachers, and the wonderful receptionist who keeps it all running). There is a part of every human being that enjoys music. Being around those who care to learn the craft will touch you and change you. read more

We love the school and they do a great job of keeping my 15 Y.O son interested and active on the piano (not an easy feat). The instructor, Clarissa, is great. If I can give more than 5 stars I would. 4/4 School of music is an EXCELLNT place for all to learn from. They are very accommodating of our needs and schedule. Bonnie and Cheryl have been very helpful. If you have any questions or concerns they are always available to answer any questions. My daughter as assigned to Ms. Amy Brown, such a pleasant and respectful lady. Always smiling, always understanding and most importantly very supportive. We absolutely LOVE her, she has been more than OUTSTANDING! Amy has found a way to bring my daughter out of her shyness. Motivating her to get on up and sing! The quality of work, and lessons planned to fit my child's needs have been phenomenal. If you, your child or someone you know has any interest in learning music, I most definitely recommend signing up with Amy. Sadly we are moving out of state and wish we can bring Amy and 4/4 School with us. I suppose the only complaint I do have is they do not have any school locations in California :( Amy, Bonnie, Cheryl and 4/4 Schools, you will be missed. I promise to refer all that I can to you. Our son goes to this school to learn Piano. And, aren't we glad to have chosen this school. EVERYONE and I mean EVERYONE I've spoken to at EVERY center have been kind, super patient and answer your questions in record time! Our son's teacher Rachelle is the best!! She is sweet and super knowledgeable and also helped us in picking out a starter piano/keyboard. Our son is very shy and she breaks through that barrier and makes him very comfortable. Terribly disappointed with this business! Months ago we signed our boys up for summer camp. On Monday the boys were so excited for their first day of camp, but they arrived to find 4/4 without lights on and the doors locked. Apparently they had cancelled camp without communicating that decision with anyone! That decision left us in a lurch with two very sad boys. I would strongly recommend not signing up your children for summer camps with this organization. read more

My oldest son has been taking guitar lessons with Colt for close to two years and my youngest just started drum lessons with Beaux. Both of these guys are amazing at teaching young children and my kids are having a great time. We are also very impressed with the level of customer service at 4/4 and the way they are willing to work with you when you have questions or issues. read more

This is a great school to learn music. We had our daughter take lessons here and the staffs here have been amazing. They are all very suoportive, caring, and great at what they do. When my daughter was wanting to start piano lessons a few years ago, we met with multiple teachers. Although 4/4 was a little more expensive than some of the teachers who taught out of their homes, we chose 4/4. This was because of the teacher, Kristin, who is supportive, encouraging, and down to earth. The customer service in the office is exceptional; everyone is warm and friendly and very accommodating when lessons need to be rescheduled. 2 years later I am still happy with my choice. read more

We have been taking piano lesson here for about 3 years. I cant rave enough about the staff. Everyone has been so accommodating, professional, personable and friendly. We have been through several teachers (our personal schedule can be a rough one). Every teacher has been great. Our current teacher of about a year now is Jake. We have 2 girls one has taken to piano easily and the other has experienced more bumps. Jake is able to adjust how he teaches each girl individually. He brings so much musical talent to the table. They are not only learning to play but Jake is really teaching them theory! Jake has kept it so fun for them. The last year we have seen so much forward momentum in their playing. My older one had drum lessons with Beaux and has learned so much not only about drums but also about music in general. Morgan, who is our son's piano teacher has manage to motivate a reluctant student to someone who is willing to go to his piano lesson every week, and even willing to practice on his own without been asked. This is not a conventional music school and you definitely are allowed to progress at your own pace. The administrative staff are also wonderful, especially with rescheduling lessons during the travel busy Summer season. I highly recommend it. read more

My daughter started taking piano lessons at 4/4 approx 2-3 years ago. We already knew about 4/4 (my son has taken piano mostly at the Lynnwood location, and he started about a year or two before my daughter). My daughter took lessons initially with a really good teacher who had been there for many years, and then moved out of state. 4/4 got a new teacher in there right away, who my son adored because the guy was a quiet person, but my daughter needs a more outgoing type. 4/4 was super cool about it and noted that different learners may work better with different teachers. We were able to easily switch her to Michelle a couple of years ago, with no hard feelings, no drama, and no missed lessons. I love that my kids have been able to continuously take lessons from excellent teachers - my daughter's current teacher, Michelle, has been there forever and has an amazing background and is an amazing teacher. Earlier this year, my daughter decided she wanted to try voice lessons, and actually Michelle teaches both voice and piano. I was satisfied with my daughter's foundation of good piano lessons for a few years and was willing to let her switch to voice lessons, and it's been a great experience so far. And then just recently, my daughter wanted to take on a new instrument, and she is now taking guitar lessons too. Her teacher is Steve, who I can't say enough good things about - we've seen Steve around for years and know that his students love his lessons, so we were lucky to get a spot on his schedule. We are very happy with the teachers and the administration - they are very quick to respond to any questions/needs, and are very professional and helpful. When I was first looking into music lessons for my kids, I thought it would be great to find a local person who teaches in their home. But that route seems to always come with the possibility that that individual will quit teaching or take an extended time off, or have a vacation schedule opposite of our family. I feel very fortunate to have had very high quality instruction for my kids on a pretty continuous schedule. We've been able to communicate with the teachers and the administration about our kids' personalities and learning styles, and they are extremely supportive. 4/4's business model and excellence in what they do has really lent itself to my kids developing music skills and a love of music. read more
