He is extremely knowledgeable and experienced, and always comes to our lessons prepared - often having to go hunt down some music or research some far out question one of my boys has asked. Each of my boys has different tastes in music and different ways that they learn, and Rick readily adapts to to their likes and learning styles. He easily switches back and forth between the son who plays by reading music and the two who prefer tab. If they want to journey into the depths of music theory, he teaches them that too. He encourages them when they need it and pushes them to be better. He makes sure the son who just does it for fun is moving along and having fun, and works at an accelerated rate with the one who is obsessed and eats and sleeps guitar. He tries to get them to branch out and stay well-rounded as guitar players. Every minute of our lessons is used (which is a god-send after having one teacher who spent the majority of each lesson talking about himself or sitting on his computer finding the music for whatever they wanted to learn). It's never too late, or too early. Ms. Kibbe and her staff are unfailingly gracious, gifted at and clearly enjoy teaching music. Ms. Kibbe's sincere interest and delight in teaching is refreshing. She is a gifted musician, inspiring her students with demonstrations of beautiful violin and viola music, good humor and productive instruction. Not an old ladies house teaching old school tunes with no advancement, or a fancy place that charges you an arm and a leg for lessons. Mila teaches out of a super cute studio, she is so kind and patient and actually expresses a genuine interest in your learning. I really like that she has an educational university level background in Piano and Music and doesn't just teach you piano songs back to back. (Like the teachers I had growing up). She delves into music theory, history, composition, form, sight reading, ear training etc. it really makes the learning effective and long term. She continuously updates her curriculums to new techniques and keeps up with modern pieces. She even offers educational music group classes for toddlers while also ranging to adult students.
