We were in the area and it was coffee time so we took the chance to finally try this place! Admittedly, we had been out running errands and just didn't realize what time it was. We parked and walked in, and I noticed they would be closing in about 10 min. The cashier greeted us but it looked like she and the owner were starting to close things up. My husband apologized and said we didn't realize they were closing, but both the cashier and the owner were super friendly; the owner told us it's ok, they are still open, and our business helps keep them open. Can't argue with that but we do not make a habit out of visiting businesses right around closing time. We just ordered one coffee, a hot brown sugar latte. While we waited, our daughter found the (free) table games and was trying to play them. It just took a few minutes to receive the drink then we thanked them and headed out. The drink was delicious and well balanced. Not too sweet at all and had a great roasty flavor to the coffee! I want to try some of the food items on another visit. Finally had the chance to visit 3rd Place Coffee, and it's truly a hidden gem in the Ralph's shopping center with plenty of parking--a definite plus! The name perfectly suits the vibe; it really feels like a great "third place" to relax, work, or catch up with friends (IYKYK). The cafe is spacious, with plenty of chairs and tables to settle in with a drink or a bite to eat. We enjoyed a hot matcha and a chai tea, both of which were delightful. I love trying chai tea at new spots, and while this one was good, I discovered I prefer a dirty chai or a stronger, more robust tea flavor. For those with similar tastes, you can ask for a double shot! We also shared a slice of their coffee cake, which was delicious. However, it seemed to have been microwaved when warmed up, so I'd love to try it cold next time to compare. The staff were incredibly friendly, and the owner, John, was exceptionally accommodating. If you ever have an issue, just let him know--he's all about making things right. One note: it can get a bit busy right after school lets out, so plan your visit accordingly if you're seeking a quieter experience. The Borchacho is one of the best breakfast burritos in OC! It's meat lovers with lots of sausage patty pieces and bacon. They also put nice crispy hash brown patty pieces inside, scrambled eggs, cheese, and avocado. They put a dash of Ancho Chipotle Sauce in there and next time I'll ask for more. They also serve it with a side of green salsa which was great. Or you can try their red salsa if you prefer. They have a decent coffee cake and a good cup of coffee. This place is so amazing!! This is was my first time actually being able to sit down here and finish up some much needed work. From the moment I walked in I was excitedly greeted and it just made me feel so good. The coffee was AMAZING!! I had the Cinnamon Roll latte with oat milk, and my BF got the Vanilla Latte with whole milk. That too was delicious!!The Avo toast was smashingly brilliant. I want to give some EXTRA love to Manuel because he was so attentive and funny. He could tell I was shy and made me feel so relaxed. First time here! John took our order and he was so lovely! Super super nice and provided lots of good recommendations and you can tell he really cares about his customers and providing fantastic customer service :) They make syrups in house which is amazing! Cant always find that in alot of places so we definitely loved that. Ordered an iced lavender latte and it was soooo good, definitely recommend! They also sell cute plants they have on display which i absolutely love, i wish more places did that. This is a classic example of why I love supporting small independent coffee shops as opposed to the large chains. The minute I walked in, I was greeted by the owner who had the friendliest personality. I asked him about a couple of the drink concoctions, and he enthusiastically told me all about them. I decided on a hot Vietnamese coffee, which blew my mind! The Vietnamese coffee was rich, flavorful, sweet and perfect on a cool day. It's basically coffee with condensed milk, and then he pours more coffee on top! This coffee shop has only been open for 7 months, but I hope they're around for a long time! The inside is inviting and spacious, with plenty of tables available to hang out. The menu is diverse with both coffee drinks and food items, including bagels, burritos, sandwiches and pastries. I didn't get any food on this visit, but I'll definitely return soon. When I asked the owner why he named it "3rd Place Coffee", he said it's because coffee shops are typically people's 3rd home - their personal home and work being 1st and 2nd place. In my opinion, this is a 1st place coffee shop and a must-stop for any coffee lovers in the Foothill Ranch-Lake Forest area! read more

The lavender matcha latte was pretty good. The matcha flavor overpowered the lavender syrup but I still love a good matcha latte. The powder they use is pretty potent like a ceremonial grade and has a nice vibrant green color. The coffee cake was a nice bite of comfort. Served warm and in a generous size, that piece of cake made my morning even more enjoyable. It wasn't too sweet, had a nice texture, and the crumble topping was delicious. It would be nice if they could add some seat cushions on the cold metal chairs to make it a more homely feel. Some succulent/plant arrangements on the tables would also make a nice addition. Overall, the space has a welcoming ambiance with great customer service, has nice lighting, and reasonably priced baked goods. I love this place so much that I am always more than willing to drive 15 minutes from home just for it. The vibe is cozy without feeling claustrophobic because of all the windows. The staff is so friendly and welcoming. And the food is so fresh and delicious! 3rd Place probably has my favorite matcha around, and I love their chai as well. Only downside is they're a little pricey. Let's be honest though, it's just a fact for most small coffee shops! A sacrifice I'm willing to make to support our local small businesses. Unfortunately I feel like this place takes way too many short cuts and food quality is suffering. Ordered the brochacho burrito after seeing people rave about it on yelp. The potatoes were not crispy, the eggs were badly over cooked and rubbery, overly scrambled to the point where it was just tiny little pieces of rubbery eggs it wasn't very pleasant. The salsas here are honestly embarrassingly bad. We live in California you can't have crappy watered down salsas. The green was flavorless and so was the red. Oddly enough the red one had a peppery flavor to it? Plz do better or change your source of salsas there are better companies out there who do it right. The chipotle sauce was overly sweet. Ordered the egg bites and they were also slightly dry and rubbery (and unevenly microwaved - slightly cold still had to ask for it to be microwaved again. Coffee was ok. The employees were really nice and very friendly, prices very reasonable, but food and coffee was meh. My husband wasn't wowed by his bagel sandwich and he asked for scrambled hard eggs on it but they still came fried with undercooked yolk. I ordered a fruit bowl and it was a decent portion of pineapple, strawberries, bananas and another fruit I didn't care for, but some of the pineapple was brown. I could tell it was fresh though and I appreciated that. We ordered coffee and cold tea. My americano was ok ... a little too dark for my liking. They do offer a lot of alternative milk options which is nice although it's an extra charge (only $.50 which isn't bad). Overall being a little generous given the cashier (maybe owner) was very personable. But not sure I'd revisit. However, I like supporting small businesses and it stayed fairly busy so maybe we just ordered the wrong things. For me that the only food option I could order given my dairy, gluten, and soy allergies. Based on the business response, I may try it again. Kindness goes a long way and like I said the employees were all very nice! A few more allergy friendly options would be nice. Excellent place to seat down, eating and relaxing. They have a breakfast menu, then it changes to lunch menu! We came on a Friday around 12:45 pm (Lunch menu). The place was not crowded at all. Seating inside and outside available. Free WiFi. Good place to come and bring in your laptop or just to chill. All staff personnel were very kind, welcoming, and friendly. He gave us really good recommendations, since it was my first time there. We had the BLT sandwich, you can taste all the fresh ingredients on a warm toast. It was really good. Prices is reasonable also. I also had the Vietnamese Coffee, I wanted to try it just because it has condensed milk in it (Huge fan of condensed milk lol) and it also have two expresso shots! I just stumbled upon this place when checking the trailhead for Whiting after the mountain lion sighting. It is literally steps away from the trail head at foothill by the Ralph's center. I talked to John the owner and after ordering a breakfast burrito and coffee he explained to me that's why he started this place. A lot of places you go to and they have a good breakfast burrito and bad coffee or vice versa. This place has both good coffee and legit breakfast burrito and other breakfast.
