Fabulous seafood restaurant! Casual, family friendly. Tuesday is buy one lobster roll, get 2nd one half price. And these lobster rolls have lots of meat! I had the twin lobster plate; yes 2 full size lobsters plus sides. MIL had scallops, big succulent and tasty! Had fabulous cheese curds and fantastic fried full belly clams as appetizers. Scallops in Lobster Sauce! That is 90% of what you need to know about this place. The Scallops in Lobster Sauce is the best dang dish I've eaten all year. I don't know what kind of witchcraft they use to make those little babies so tender and sweet and buttery, and that creamy lobster sauce so absolutely irresistible, and I don't think it's my right to know. But they are a gift from the humble kitchen of 390 Main Street and I will praise them as I should! Ok - if you need to know more... We tried this place for the first time yesterday and upon taking a seat at the bar, I thought it felt a bit dive-y and really not sure what to expect. The staff is nice enough. There's definitely a good-old-boys-club vibe here. The menu is paper and looooong. But! One bite of those scallops and I totally got it. I understood the whole place and while it's not fine dining, it fits the price point and the promise of excellent seafood. We also tried the clam cakes - tasty, super crispy exterior and tender inside. Tasty tartar to accompany. The coconut shrimp was fun and sweet and crispy. We went for lunch and ordered bowls of the Haddock Chowder and Seafood Chowder. They were generous bowls and it came out piping hot and both were delicious! The haddock was chock full of fish and the seafood was a heap of shrimp, scallops, lobster, and haddock! It was a filling meal! Definitely a great find, we will be back! read more

I love 390 Main, formerly Ocean Gardens! It was my birthday and my dad and I went here for my dinner. I've come for years and have always enjoyed it. This visit was no exception. The atmosphere is cozy, even in the bar area. Nice lighting, too. Staff are very friendly and welcoming, and I liked how they checked in with us to see if we were enjoying our meal and if they could get us anything else. I had the seafood platter and had haddock, shrimp, clams, and scallops with a side of coleslaw. The haddock was very well made and delicious, and the rest of the seafood was delicious too! Lots of different options, too: pasta meals, seafood, burgers...and if you like alcohol they have a full bar. In the summer I think they have an ice cream window too. The bar area is a great spot for local hangouts with lots of monitors for sports broadcast and is almost always full - while the restaurant maintains a family atmosphere. Huge improvement. This had been a family favorite for years, but three years ago the service and attityde git so terrible we stopped going. Based on the parking lot and dining room, alot of others had the same reaction. However, what an improvement. Some changes to the facility make a big improvement in the perception of the restaurant. The server and hostess insist that there has not been a recent change in management, something has changed dramatically. They take reservations, and manage the dining room likie t is being run by professionals, for a change. The servers were friendly and helpful. The kitchen is being run well now. We called to make a reservation for 5 adults and 3 kids. They said sorry but already have hit our max. Ok-- no problem. They called back 5 minutes later and said 5:30 would be fine. We showed up on time and soon placed our order. Other patrons came, ordered, got their food, ate and left. We inquired what is the problem. Kitchen is backed up. Slowly our food arrived item by item over 15 minutes!!my fisherman platter was ok, my wife's lobster was ice cold-- obviously was cooked earlier and put in fridge and not heated up enough to cover up the ice cold meat inside!! Sent back ( and they comped us on that) kids Mac and cheese was obviously made earlier and tasted that way! Other food was fair at best. My husband, son and I visited Ocean Garden after reading all the reviews. We were expecting it to be very good. It was, however, horrible. I ordered the special which was 'fall off the bone ribs'. What I got was a hard dried up piece of completely stuck together ribs- certainly NOT fall off the bone by any stretch of the imagination. There was a very thick layer on the bottom of what seemed to be some form of rub which was literally black, sandy and pasty. I had to scrape it off. The top had a slight drizzle of BBQ sauce covered with a spice. Whatever spice it was, it was not good at all. I could not even eat them. Both my husband and son tried them and they, too, found them inedible. My son ordered the salmon and they asked him how he wanted it cooked- raw, medium or well. Maybe it is OK to eat raw salmon but my son certainly did not think so. My husband only ordered the salad which was fine. I would like to add that our waitress was very nice. When I said to her that the ribs were certainly not fall off the bone, she did offer to bring me something else. I did not want to have to wait so I declined. Needless to say, after spending far more than it was worth we all decided we would never go back. read more

This can be a 5 star or 1 star restaurant depending on what your goal is. If you're interested in ordering whole lobsters at a restaurant and do not care at all about atmosphere, water views, or basically anything else besides lobster, this is the best lobster restaurant I have ever been to. The triple lobster special (yes...THREE) each had to be at least 1 1/4 pounds, if not larger. The $24.99 price is just ridiculous. This is cheaper than the price of one smaller lobster anywhere in the Old Port. After finishing his triple, my friend from Mississippi was craving a fourth and the kitchen allowed me to add one to my twin lobster special after the fact. 5 minutes later, out comes his fourth. An average soup and salad bar is included in the meal price. How's everything else? Well, at lunch today the local nursing home was quite literally bussing in the residents. It felt like eating lunch in Cocoon. The interior is dated. The service was a little slow but the waitress had a big smile. I don't know who would order non-lobster here, so I can't comment on the rest of the menu. For whole lobsters at a restaurant I have never seen cheaper. So if that is the goal, Ocean Garden is a 5 star experience for locals or tourists. read more

My boyfriend and I went here for dinner last night. The waitress Barb was very nice and energetic. She made sure that all of our meals were just as we ordered it. We had the scallops wrapped bacon for and appetizer. The bacon was cooked perfectly but the scallop could be warmer on the inside. My boyfriend got the surf and turf and I got the seafood alfredo. Both dishes were excellent. We had a lot of leftover. Over all this is a great find for us and we'll be back. read more

If you want steamed lobsters, this is the place to go! My friend and I came here based on the recommendation of our inn keeper. We wanted steamed lobster (not the rolls) and he said this was the cheapest location, but with no ambiance. That was fine with us, so we headed down to the place and agreed that there wasn't much of a view. Just a pretty church and a parking lot. BUT the lobster was CHEAP. The specials were: One lobster - $13.99 Twin lobsters - $16.99 Three lobsters - $21.99 On top of that, you get unlimited salad bar and soup (which were both good)! WHAT A DEAL! Also, our server was very kind. She showed me how to crack my lobster without making me feel out of the loop. The crowd in the restaurant is a wee-bit older, but I think everywhere in Maine is like that (that, or our B&B host likes dining with the elderly). So if you're in the Gorham area and you want, like, nine lobsters (cause who doesn't?), then Ocean Garden is the place to go! read more

For the local Gorhamite, Ocean Gardens conjures up an image of blue hair dinner specials, cheap mega lobster specials, and fat ass locals drinking at the bar on Tuesday night. Au contraire mon frere. Ocean Gardens is no longer that place. The Resturant was recently purchased and, although it looks the same, the engine under the hood has been turbocharged and performance has been enhanced. I have been there twice. Once for brunch - as a friend of mine mentioned they have crab cake Benedict - not the English muffin based version - but the crab cake based version - yes sir, frigging wicked F'ing good. The second time was for surf and turf. Lobster was HEAVY and and the fillet perfectly medium as requested. The salad bar was an upgrade from the previous joint. Still a family vibe and a solid dinner for a reasonable price. Definitely not a trendy place, just good eating and you can still set you fat ass on a barstool and quaff a few on Tuesday night. read more

Came with my sister in law for breakfast and we were not disappointed. The mimosas are HUGE and portion sizes for the food are incredibly generous. The blueberry French toast was phenomenal - not too sweet - and we'll be back for the crab cake Benedict! We got a side of sausage which is local and probably the best I've ever had. Not a bad place for in the middle of Maine somewhere! We came here for a rehearsal dinner. Do not expect anything fancy here! The waiter was not even sure about the wines that were on the menu. When we ordered she had to look at the menu to write it down. I had the scallops and they were delicious! I only eat seafood when in Maine because why wouldn't you! They had a salad bar that was nothing fancy but not stomach upsetting either! The soup was good as well! The dessert they served looked to be a biscuit short cake of sorts. I went here for dinner last night. From the reviews, I already knew the lobster was priced accordingly and it was a cozy environment. Well, I agree. The waitress was lovely - she greeted everyone like they were family even though she may not have known them. The salad was more iceberg lettuce than I would have liked but I understand restaurants offer this to keep cost low. I did not have the soup but I did have the warmed rolls which were standard. The cost for one lobster was $19.99 which I thought reasonable along with the salad bar. I ordered the NY Strip and Lobster which was more food than I expected and really inexpensive. The steak was juicy and the lobster sweet - a perfect combination. I would go here again if I'm back in the area. read more

Mostly cooked from frozen product (From what I could tell, nothing was made in house). Wife's chicken tenders were overcooked and completely dry. Son's BBQ chicken sandwich was just so-so. The description of my meal sounded great: pan seared scallops and fillet mignon tips made with a teriyaki marinade. Scallops had ZERO sear (read: microwave?). If the steak was fillet mignon, then it was from the grizzle end of the cow and cooked to oblivion. The "marinade" was a canned thick goop that drowned whatever life the protein had left in it. It's sad because I had hopes of a decent meal from the reviews I read. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this restaurant's food apart from the salad bar. read more

This place deserves 0 stars. They tried to serve us spoiled seafood and when we politely told our waitress that the fried clam strips were no good we were greeted by a very angry man whom stood there yelling that it was fresh and decided to pick one off of my father in-laws plate and proceeded to yell that they were fresh. One no they were not fresh (my husband is a cook for over 20 years and we are native Mainers) they were definitely spoiled. The chicken sandwich I ordered was over cooked and dried, the tomato's on top were brown in the middle and slimy. Btw I ordered it with no veggies. After my husband politely refusing to eat the clams he got even angrier and yelled at us to "not to eat anything and to get the hell out of his restaurant" at this point I said very calmly "ok we are leaving, bo worries and not issues, if you wanna serve bad food to your customers that's your choice we are fine with leaving and not eating it." As we were walking out the door I was talking to my husband because I was shocked and completely embarrassed as the restaurant was pretty full with customers I made the statement like wow I can't believe that just happened when all of a sudden I hear get the fuck out of my restaurant now. At this time my family was already halfway out of the door we couldn't move fast enough due to others coming and going at the same time. Not only was he very angry and intimidating but also thought I'd was a good idea to put his hand on me to try and shove me out. I'm the end I was very shocked, appalled and overall upset to the point that I broke down outside having a very bad anxiety attack. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Bad food and terrible customer service. Believe me when I say it's Maine there are 100's of other restaurants that you can go to, get good food and wonderful customer service.
