    Chicken pot pie, fork for size

    Decent food truck, all the prices are not round numbers (i.e. chicken pot pie for $8.22) , but with tax, everything comes out to round numbers say, $9. Really tasty pies. Yes, it's 100% butter, so the crust is 100% amaaazing. It has an extra bit of savouriness, almost like theres a smidge of cheese in there. Either way. It does not disappoint. Filling options were varied. I had bites of the cajun jambalaya, lamb pie, and chicken pot pie. The Jambalaya wasn't too spicy but was terrifically smoky, resulting from the slices of sausage inside. It was also packed with rice, so unlike a soupy pot pie, it was quite solid. The chicken pot pie and lamb were more classic pot pies. Delicious. The pies aren't too big, it comfortably fits in one hand, but it is satisfying - a portion that is just right. There were a couple sweet and savory options sold out, like the pecan pie, by the time we went (2 hours after the beginning of the lunch hour). I think it's not uncommon so it's better to get here early to have all the options!

    In my quest to try every food truck in the area, I find myself looking at 314 Pie, a blue truck with premade, ready to go personal sweet/savory pies. It's simple, they have a selection of about 8-10 types, 5 savory, and 3 sweet, with a few seasonal/limited edition ones to keep you coming back. I had the Steak, Cheese and Mushroom one, which was the recommendation of the awesome food trucker worker. She briskly pulled one out of the baked goods display/warmer in the truck and into a neat paper bag, without a miss-step, a fork was stabbed, leaking out the smell of amazing meat filled goodness. Good gracious! It was hot and delicious... I mean the meat was seasoned nicely, it was filled with flavor. Sure the pie itself isn't that big, but when I got back to my building, and sat down, the smell made my team instantly hateful of me. This is one that you can eat fast, if you just need to eat.. but if you take a moment to eat, bite by bite, you will greatly enjoy it. and the value behind it makes it worth the money, which was 8 bucks! Yikes, but it's worth it. They are either around Amazon or Microsoft, and they do catering. Recommendation, go there at least a few times, and find time to savor it.

    Lamb Pie w/ Stout Gravy

    I found this food truck, as it was one of the food vendors at the Snohomish Beer Festival. With your ticket you get a voucher for a food item, so decided to use the voucher here for the Lamb Pie w/ Stout Gravy, as it was recommended by the cashier as his favorite. Although the cashier was very friendly and was able to get my food as soon as I paid I didn't like the pie as much as I had hoped. There is good flavor with the stout gravy, but the shreds of lamb seemed to be on the more dry side, so the gravy was necessary. The presentation of your own personal pie is nice, but was mostly disappointed by the small portion of the stuffing. Because of the small amount of lamb, veggies and stout the pie served more as a snack than a meal. And I wasn't a pan of the thick parts of the crust where the folding was, as the texture was hard and flaky. The fodo truck is a cool concept, but wish the food has been better.

    To start off... I'm an Aussie :) I wouldn't call myself a meat pie connoisseur though. In the past 5.5 years I haven't had many pies at all, so maybe my review is positively biased because of nostalgia. I've tried their steak pie and lamb pie several times when their truck comes to Redmond. Although I've had some amazing pies back home, I'm pretty happy with 314 and I'm glad they're always close by. I usually like lamb a lot, but their steak pie is better. I'm not sure what it is, but the flavour of the lamb pie doesn't hit the spot for me. Today, I tried their wild mushroom pie for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. This is a solid pie! It's rare for me to prefer a vegetarian option over meat. I think they've done a great job with the flavours in this mushroom pie. Will definitely get it again :)

    Hit this truck at the Taco Truck Challenge. I had the Taco Pie and one of their chocolate chip almond cookies! The pie was pretty simple, just taco meat and cheese, but it was really good (I ended up topping it with some salsa, onions, and cilantro at a different truck, don't tell on me). The cookie was REALLY good; It was really thick and warm, so when I broke it in half there was a large amount of gooey chocolate. The food warranted the 5-star, but the only reason I am writing a review is because of what I saw one of the employees doing. I circled back to throw away some garbage, and one of their employees was rummaging through the garbage can outside the truck, and sorting the trash! She pulled out all the compostable items, and put them in the correct bin; pulled out all the recyclables, and then recycled them! Good for you 314 Pie, I applaud the extra effort to help out the environment.

    According to 314 Pie's site, they were supposed to be at the Broadway Farmers Market on Christmas Eve from 11 AM - 3 PM (see screenshot). However, we arrived at the market at 1 PM, and 314 Pie was not there. A round trip to the market in Capitol Hill cost us nearly $20 for the Ubers and an hour of wasted time. Recommendation for the owners: please update your site next time if you have special hours for Christmas Eve and other key days to avoid wasting your customers' time, energy, and money.

    My general rule is to visit a new truck twice before I review it. I was excited to see a pie truck hit the streets of Seattle. The first time I visited 314 Pie was at Wine World. That day, the only pies they had were steak and onion ($8) and vegetable curry ($7). I had the steak and onion pie. The crust was light, flaky, and fantastic! It was a beautiful shade of golden brown. Unfortunately, the crust was the best thing about the pie. The filling was very bland. Also, the cuts of meat (see picture) had healthy portions of fat on it. I'm all for cooking with fat and even eating fat, however, I wasn't expecting every piece to be like that. The second time I visited the truck was yesterday at the 2nd & Pike pod. Upon my arrival, I wondered why they did not have a line because Jemil's Big Easy and The Grilled Cheese Experience had very long lines. The answer became clear very quickly. At 12:30 PM, after being open for about an hour and a half, the truck was again, down to only two different kinds of pies: steak and onion ($8) and chicken, bacon, and cheese ($8). I got the chicken, bacon, and cheese. As was my previous experience, the crust was very good. The filling was bland (again) and this time, very dry. In the two times I've gone out of my way to visit the truck, I've had very little choices, and never had the option of getting a sweet pie. Social media presence has been decent for a new truck. However, since a route is not set, there's not a whole lot to say. I'm disappointed because the men who own the truck really seem very nice. I asked when they thought they would stabilize production. I was told they are running 2 days a week and they hope to get up and running to 5 days a week after they figure out how many pies to make. The reality is that they are not making enough pies for 2 days a week so it's hard for me to imagine that they will make enough for 5 days a week. I'm simply not that patient. I have upwards of 20 trucks to choose from on any given day, depending on the neighborhood I'm in. With a lackluster product and unreliable inventory, I'm probably going to pass from now on. Also, I can get a decent competitor's product at the price point of $6.

    "Today is an excellent day for pie," I told myself at lunch. And I was sooo right. 314 Pie has fast become one of my new favorites on the Seattle food truck scene, for three reasons: they're fast, they're affordable, and most importantly, they're delicious. 314 Pie typically offers 3 or 4 varieties of savory pies, a sweet pie, and "cinnamon pie fries," a delightful concoction of cooked pie dough, cinnamon and sugar. Each is already made and ready to go - once you order your only wait is half a minute or so while they wrap it for you. Each pie is about 6 inches across, about the size of a typical pot pie, and once you hold it you can feel how warm and heavy it is, perfect for a cold day like today. My mouth is watering already. I've tried the three meat pies - chicken, beef, and lamb - and enjoyed each for the rich, warm, satisfying filling and flaky, tasty crust. Each savory pie runs about $8. I find myself usually choosing the lamb, moist and tender, but the beef pie is a close second favorite. There is also a vegetable curry pie, which I haven't tried...though I will someday. The sweet pies have ranged from pear to peach to today's delicious caramel apple, complete with a crushed pecan crust, for $5. Oh my...amazing. The cinnamon pie fries are pretty good for $1, but if you really want to treat yourself, do go for the sweet pie...trust me. End result: a satisfying lunch in the form of two pretty little pies, for $13. It may seem like only a little food at first, but I swear those little things are bigger on the inside - I enjoy every bite and finish my lunch feeling well-fed. Yes - it was a good day for pie. But isn't it always?

It was warm, flavorful, and reminded me of the filling inside an Asian meat bun, which I enjoyed. The chicken teriyaki was disappointing. It didn't look anything like the photo they advertise, and the flavor was just okay, nothing memorable. The hazelnut roll was decent and not overly sweet, which I liked, but it wasn't something I'd go out of my way for. Overall, I personally think this place is a bit overhyped. The fast-moving line and friendly staff were a plus, and the beef & cheese bun was good, but based on what we tried, I'm not sure it fully lived up to the hype. Still, if you've never had it before, it may be worth trying once since they have plenty of other menu options.

Through several visits: Baguette, Large ($7.95) - Great baguette with bubbling golden exterior complete with the perfectly baked crust even after waiting 3 hours before cutting in and eating. The interior has the perfect moisture level and is delightfully soft and chewy. The taste overall has a deep developed flavor. This is a great baguette. The only problem - the price. I can find ones for half the price that are maybe 80% as good as this one. (5/5) Seasonal Biscuit ($4.50) - This biscuit definitely isn't Southern-style. It's more of a drop biscuit, combining a relatively soft and tender interior with a nice exterior crust, without any flakiness or layering. The interior is almost cake-like in texture and crumb, and is plenty moist. They add plenty of fresh black pepper inside. It's distributed very evenly, giving a peppery bite with every mouthful. Parmesan is added to the top of the biscuit before baking, giving plenty of umami and richness but only on the upper layer. (4/5) Green Vinaigrette Cafeteria Style Pizza ($6.25) - The pizza is kept under a warming lamp, so it starts getting a little dried out after I assume a couple of hours spent there. I do love the base though - it's focaccia-like giving a really crunchy dark golden brown crust underneath, which supports the toppings. The pizza slice has lots of structural integrity and doesn't flop over. There's a base of fragrant concentrated tomato paste-like flavor which is topped with a very even layer of cheese. Since it's warmed rather than freshly baked, the cheese starts congealing a bit. The cheese is peppered with parsley, garlic, and a bunch of mustard seeds, giving a special zing. The toppings go all the way to the sides of the pie, making it great for people who dislike crust. Even though it's cafeteria style pizza that's kept under heat lamps, I quite liked it. I wonder if I can get a really fresh slice if I get there right at 11AM when lunch starts. (5/5) Chocolate Croissant ($6.10) - Great lamination with a very aesthetic honeycomb pattern. Baked on the harder side, causing fantastic crispy flaky layers to flake off, but also creating a darker golden brown character that is on the verge of bitterness. Nicely buttery soft and chewy interior. Chocolate is a darker variety, probably somewhere around 70%, so it has a pleasing balanced sweetness and chocolate flavor. It's not typical baton, instead seems to be a section from a bar. Still warm and melty even through I didn't eat the croissant until ~30 minutes after purchasing. When cooled down further, some red fruity notes start appearing, so this seems to be be pretty high quality. (5/5) White Sourdough ($12.60) - Now this is a loaf of bread. Superb crust, probably 2 or 3 times as thick compared to competitors, creating a supreme crusty bite with a chew approaching a hard crunch with almost caramelized molasses notes on the bottom. The interior is moist and tender with a pleasing slight sourdough tang. It's a superb piece of craftsmanship. (5/5) Kouign Amann ($5.80) - This is another heavier bake with some acridity development on the top surface. Unlike many other bakeries where the kouign amann is basically a differently shaped croissant with sugar glaze, Sea Wolf's version feels more in line with tradition. The crumb is denser and richer, more like brioche. There's interesting black speckling inside which I believe is due to the inclusion of espresso powder given the mild coffee-like flavor. The crust is again baked hard, but it's lighter and not as flaky as the croissant. They sprinkle just a bit of salt on top of a very light caramelized sugar glaze. It's not very sweet and I didn't find it too salty unlike some other reviewers. (5/5) Plain Focaccia Slice ($4.80) - Good quality olive oil, some salt sprinkled on top to boost the flavors. Light and airy interior, but the exterior is a little wan, being more light golden brown and lacking some good crusty crisp especially on the fried bottom. Quite oily. (4/5) Sea Wolf gives out free sourdough starter, which can be requested from the cashier. Since picking it up several weeks ago, I've gone through several feed/bake cycles for making sourdough focaccia. I've visited Sea Wolf 3 or 4 times in the last month. That's a testament to how high quality their pastries and breads are. I think the only thing stopping me from visiting more is thanks to the starter I got from them fanning my baking instincts. I bake so much now that I don't have any need to buy their bread! Note: Sea Wolf charges a 3% credit card fee. This is not noted on their menu - it only appears in the POS right before paying. While I enjoyed the vibe at Sea Wolf Bakers a lot, I didn't think their pastries and coffee were nearly as good as some others I tried in Seattle. The espresso shot I tried was extremely bitter and just not as smooth as it should have been. The savory croissant was ok, but it lacked any big flavors, and the texture wasn't really croissant-like. The hit cross bun was just unimpressive and not very good at all. Overall, I would probably skip Sea Wolf Bakers next time. It's ok, but there are so many other amazing bakeries too. Maybe I tried the wrong stuff?

The bakery itself has a very pleasant atmosphere. It feels warm, welcoming, and comfortable, making it a great place to sit down and enjoy a quiet breakfast in the city. To finish, I tried a slice of triple coconut cream pie to go, and it was absolutely heavenly. Rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced, it easily stood out as one of the highlights of the visit and something I won't forget anytime soon. Overall, Dahlia Bakery delivered great food, a relaxing atmosphere, and an outstanding dessert. Since I was only in Seattle briefly for business, I'm not sure when I'll be back, but I'm glad I had the chance to experience it.

There really has been no rhyme or reason on when there are long or short lines, but for your sake, hope that you get a short line. Inside, there is a decent amount of seating upstairs and downstairs (though only one bathroom), but this seems like it would be a great spot to meet with a friend or coworker or try to get some work done. I'm a big fan of the horchata brioche donut, so that's what I recommend you try. The pastries are reasonably priced and freshly made, and if you don't like things that are too sweet they will be perfect for you. I think the only complaint I've had is the drinks the barista has made can be very hit or miss, especially once with Chai I had. The barista was nice enough to remake the drink, but that's probably one area of improvement. Overall, this is a great little spot and I look forward to coming back again.

The other day, when I asked to confirm a particular drink was mine (as the drink was prepared for to-go instead of here), I received a judgemental stare. But I come here often and have learned how busy they get. I get exhausted just watching them! and I am so grateful this cafe is here. As someone coming from another cafe-focused city, this was the first place that really made me feel like I was home. Stellar food, beverages, and ambience. Only other complaint is lack of outlets for charging.

I love that they had different options of fruit to pick from and I chose blueberry! The pastry was perfectly flaky and I loved how fresh the blueberry tasted. My boyfriend ordered the chocolate croissant because he was excited at the idea of the chocolate being piped through the croissant and also drizzled over the top, but it turns out the dark brown parts on top are just design and not more chocolate. Still, he was pleased with the amount of chocolate in the croissant and the bite I had was heavenly. The champagne cake caught my eye as I was ordering and I just had to try a bite, it was absolutely delicious and fresh. I loved how light the cake was and the layers of flavour through the whole dessert! I love how bright and airy the cafe is! My boyfriend and I were easily able to find seating by the windows and enjoyed the gorgeous view of the space needle and people watching as we shared breakfast. The staff here was also patient and welcoming. We'll definitely have to come back and try more of their pastries!!

Service was super friendly! I got the hojicha latte, the okonomiyaki frittata, black sesame cookie, kimchi focaccia, and sakura swiss roll. The hojicha latte was rich and earthy in the best way, and it went really well with the black sesame cookie, which had a great strong sesame flavor, and the texture was perfectly chewy! The focaccia was pillowy and chewy at the same - I could've eaten five of these on their own. The frittata was my least favorite item, but by no means am I saying that it's bad! I thought the sauces overpowered it a bit, and the frittata itself was a bit bland - I couldn't even tell it had sweet potato in it, but it was cooked really well. There was ample seating in the heated patio, but parking was a little confusing, though we got lucky with the small lot right next to the store. The aroma of sesame was strong. The cookie had a nice crisp to the edge and a chewy center. The sesame taste wasn't as strong as the smell. The spicy chicken sandwich on special was not spicy at all. It was overwhelmingly sweet from the orange glaze/sauce on the kitchen. It was a decent sandwich and I definitely finished it. Just not something I would gravitate back to. I understand the reviews about how this place doesn't live up to some extra hype. It's decent, solid and a great option for the area but to go out of your way for and wait thirty minutes in line? Not really.
