Ate here with a group of friends on the patio recently. The food was good... but the service was horrible. We never received 2 drinks from our order, and ended up cancelling the order ourselves because it was getting late. One of my friends ordered a dish with a sauce and didn't receive the sauce ... another asked for ketchup. We asked 4 times to various people for these sauces, and ended up never receiving them until we were ready to pay for the bill (and our food was cold). They had us pay full price for our meal! I would rather drive to the Coralville 30Hop to eat because their service is much better than this. read more

i want to love this place so much more than i actually do. i LOVE the atmosphere and the people who usually congregate at 30hop.. it's got an awesome rooftop patio, cool indoor bar on both levels, great menu OPTIONS, but nothing i've ever eaten has really wow'd me. nor has the service. wait staff is always fine... ok.. but nothing that truly made me change my mind about the place. as far as the food goes, i usually stick to the chop chop salad but ask for the tuna that is on the poke bowl instead and it's good... but not great. things i have ordered: Ahi Poke Bowl, Brussels, Chop Chop Salad, Poke Bowl, Queso , Salmon BLT and a Turkey Panini and would give them all a 5-7/10. nothing that great. drinks are decent but in my opinion overpriced for the quantity/quality. again- love the place itself, they could improve on their food in my opinion. read more

This is my favorite spot to watch a game in town. They have a great list of drafts, and their burgers are to die for. Definitely recommend the Umami Burger and the Pork Tenderloin. We had the brussel sprouts for appetizer, my sister had the poke, dad the blue burger and I had the buffalo wings. Everything was done nicely. The negatives. Font and color on the menu was is not conducive for older people. My dad could not see the prices as they were almost the same color as the background. Seating was also an issue for older folks. The high chair were very uncomfortable, the booths are low and the only decent chair on the lower bar only fit two people. Very solid go-to on the weekends. 30hop burger is bangin, everything about that one is amazing. 50/50 burger is perfect combo of bacon and beef. Service is always quick and consistent. I was rather disappointed in this restaurant. I heard many great things about it and maybe that was the problem. The decor is a modern industrial look, which seems to be the trend today. It really didn't impress me much. Service was fine but nothing exceptional. They have an extensive beer selection, including many local beers. My wife and I both ordered mixed drinks and both thought they tasted more like juices, with maybe a splash of alcohol added, than actual drinks. Maybe it was just a new bartender, not sure. The burgers weren't anything special either. Our waiter encouraged us to try something new and maybe out of our comfort zone, unfortunately, there was nothing on the menu that came close to that, which was disappointing as I rather enjoy trying new or unique foods. In fact the burgers were very standard to most "gourmet " places. In fact if you want more adventurous burgers go to Red Robin. The plus side was the fries were really good, or maybe everything else was so lackluster they made average fries seem better. For 2 drinks and 2 burgers we paid about $60, which I felt was a little on the expensive side. Maybe this place is great for beer, but I probably will never know as I do not expect to be back. read more

We were here last night with family for dinner around 7:30. When we walked in we noticed it was much darker than it normally is. I mentioned it to our hostess( i don't get her name, she was very young with bleach-blonde shoulder length hair) who snottily replied- "this is a trendy bar." I laughed because I'm from LA, and I'm familiar with "trendy". We were led to a very dark booth- my husband noted that our lighting above us wasn't as bright as the others in the restaurant. This was beyond that- super dark, couldn't even see our food. Our server was all over the place and wasn't very good- we had to keep asking her basic things like water. We had to flag her down to get our check after she walked by our booth like three times without asking if we were ok. I ordered the Poké bowl(I'm from where they originated, so i also know a good poké bowl) and my rice was severely undercooked. I won't be coming back, and I'll be letting my friends know how bad this location is. Management should make some changes, because this place has gone downhill. read more

Pros: A good menu (NOT the regular fried bar fare), I've tried half of it so far, love the pretzel bites, good tacos (though a tad dry), great entrees (forget the name, the one with mashed potatoes and beef with that special sauce was great). Good selection of tap brews. Bartending staff is very good, attentive. Can't wait for it to get warm again to use the upstairs outside area. Happy 30Hop is here, it's a frequent stop. Cons: 1) upstairs - NO food service and NO wait staff, even though there are 3 big hi-top tables for 7-people each. They have a "dumbwaiter" device they could get the food up (but refuse to use it). 2) upstairs - Only 1 bartender (at least the 1/2 dozen times we were up there), and when it's busy, if you're not sitting at the bar (which is less than half the capacity) then forget getting served - half to go downstairs and wait at that bar to get beers and bring them upstairs. Would rate a "5" - but they need to 1) serve food upstairs, have a waitress, use the "dumbwaiter". 2) set aside a "waitress/walk-up" area at the bar to get beers for the 60% of the other customers not sitting at the bar or have a waiter/waitress. 3) have 2 bartenders when it's busy, or at least have the one not ignore those not sitting at the bar. 4) get better host/hostesses at the front...don't need 3 of them standing there looking helpless, 1 experienced non-high school-aged would be better. read more

Have been to the Cedar Rapids location twice since it opened and was impressed both times. The Cobb salad was beautifully presented and tasted even better! The Brussel Sprouts on the appetizer menu was the best I've ever had. The guacamole has room for improvement however. It simply tasted like mashed avocados- no flavor.
