The restaurant itself looked nice, but I was honestly shocked by one of the signs displayed inside. I understand the joke-style signs about unattended children getting coffee or a puppy -- those are common and harmless. But having a sign in 2026 that says "Loose children will be sold as slaves" is completely unacceptable and wrong on so many levels. There's a difference between humor and using something tied to real human suffering as a punchline. I can't personally support or patronize a business that thinks that kind of message is appropriate decor. read more

Small town restaurants are a challenge to review, their staffs are small and their financial challenges are many. But, ultimately, it comes down to meal quality and service. In both cases 3 bananas is fair, but with certainty plenty of potential. We arrived on a busy Sunday afternoon pushing their staff to the limit. What followed was a 50 minute wait for food although our thoughtful server did bring us some chips snd salsa after about 40 minutes. We started with the pretzel bites with beer cheese. The pretzels were piping hot with plenty of coarse salt. The beer cheese dip was hot and cheesy. Immediately after we received the pretzels, our sandwich arrived. The lemon chicken was fairly tough and had little flavor but the sandwich did have ample lettuce tomato etc. and the corn fritter sides were very good. We stopped by the 3 Bananas "Food Shed" last Saturday (March 21st) with a group of fellow bikers. By the time I was halfway home, I knew something was seriously wrong. I barely made it back before the "full program" hit: violent vomiting, terrible stomach cramps, and a high fever. I have been out of commission on sick leave for an entire week, stuck in bed and unable to work. This wasn't just a "dodgy burger"--this was a severe physical shutdown. The most alarming part? This is the SECOND time this has happened. I had a similar experience after eating here last August. At the time, I thought maybe it was a fluke, as the illness wasn't as severe. However, the fact that it happened again and much worse this time proves that this isn't bad luck. It's a systemic failure in food safety. Whether it's improper refrigeration, cross-contamination, or poor hygiene, management is clearly ignoring basic health protocols. As bikers, we rely on these roadside stops, but this place is a genuine liability to the community. Bottom Line: Unless you want to spend your next seven days in bed or in a hospital wing, find somewhere else to eat in Crescent City. This place is dangerous. read more

The setting for this restaurant is what initially caught our attention. It is right by the lake and has a great outside patio. We had lunch and enjoyed both of our dishes, the chicken wings and a fried chicken salad as well as the Coco Mojito cocktail. The service was friendly and fast. We forgot to order the fried banana cheesecake for dessert so we will be back and try that out next time. read more

It's Wednesday night and this place is packed out much like the parking lot for Saturday night Bingo at the rectory down the street - hey it's trivia night and it's free and they have a cash payout for the top three teams -believe me there aren't many empty seats in the house especially if you arrive late, fun, food, booze and cash prices sign me up... The staff here is great and so nice, as are the customers although some take this trivia a little too serious, but it's fun in a intense kind of way. To get in the mood I ordered a $4.00 PBR in a can for starters and I just want to say it was ice cold and it was more nostalgic than tasty so I chased it with an Ancient City Matanza Red Ale, now that's a great beer. We ordered a club sandwich and a bourbon chicken sandwich both were nice portions - these were served with a choice of sides we both chose crispy crinkle fries (love those crinkle fries). The food was great and the service was outstanding and the prices are reasonable, this is a great space to relax with a great view of the lake. We arrived at 12:35pm on Sunday, plenty of self seating to choose from. Took 10 minutes to get our menus and drink orders. (AFTER the waitress recognized the family of 6 who sat down AFTER US at the table next to us and took their order) Then it took 20 minutes to get a draught beer & a house wine. We ordered our SANDWICHES around 12:50. At 2pm, after still waiting at 20 minutes (and counting) for a second wine and the two tables behind us just getting the food they ordered when we were sitting down, we asked for our check for the 2 drinks we received at that point. The waitress responded with "we have a small kitchen". The waitress referred us to the manager behind the bar who repeated "we have a small kitchen". (Still empty seats in the dining room and at bar) We told her we wanted to pay for the 2 drinks we received and she told us don't worry about it. This is a fun lakeside restaurant. The inside has a vacation vibe. The ceiling is made of woven bamboo and their are painted footprints on the floor. There were no clean tables outside, and they had live music. Service was prompt and I saw several servers. The 4 of us loved our food. I had a patty melt and corn fritters. It was so amazing. This is a fun place to eat and the food and prices are good. On Saturday a group of us Harley riders went there for lunch. Since it was the first weekend of BikeWeek in Daytona there were several motorcycles in the parking lot. We walked in and were seated immediately on the back deck overlooking Cresent Lake. There was an old guy in the corner playing a guitar and singing. Service was good and even though they were busy our food came out quickly. I just had a salad due to my diet but others had chicken wings and sandwiches and everything look good. As mentioned earlier prices were reasonable. Will definitely return. read more

The food is either hit or miss. One time it is fixed properly and with flavor and the same meal on another visit is completely different.

I have to say this place is great. You can choose to sit inside or outside with the water view. The inside is cute an very relaxed. The food the service is all spot on. An the prices are very reasonable. Everything I have had here so far has been absolutely delicious. Tonight I had the grilled blackened Mahi an it was the best I have eaten ever. Ian was the cook an his helper Alexis made it perfect. From the flavor to the texture an it was so moist. I have to say they definitely know what there doing. They are an asset to the kitchen for sure. An the our server Heather was very attentive an always made sure we had what we needed. You couldn't ask for a better place to eat. Owner needs to take responsibility of workers especially when you go to her for help. We have been there numerous of times and this was absolutely the worse service ever. My husband went to owner and asked for help as we were waiting for our food for over 45 mins. She said it was up and she would bring it over. She never did! Very long story short we expressed how disappointed we were to her and advised it will be a while before we come back. She ( owner) had the gall to say don't take out on me and said you have got to be kidding me. My husband came you for help and we had to get other people to get our bill which was another issue. Gave them cash and we sat for half hour waiting for change. That was icing on cake it started off with nobody coming to our table for 25 mins we should have know to leave but I guess we kept giving benefit of the doubt. Took us 30 mins to order over 45 mins for food and to get change for bill. This is being very nice. Normally we would be ok but when the owner took no responsibility for her staff or for herself was last straw!!! All she had to do was take 5 mins of her time to stop at table once when my husband talked to her and we requested for her when the bill fiasco happen we were told that she doesn't have time is what our waitress Jessica advised us. This visit involved my wife and I's trip to San Mateo Florida, to visit one of my best friends and her husband, who have retired and live on the Saint Johns river. We joined their neighbours and arrived at 3 bananas via boat trip . So that was pretty cool. Everyone there was very nice it is definitely a mom and pop place with that Southern charm. Everybody enjoyed their meals, everything was recently priced. Service was good. If this was just a bar it be a 4 star property. However, their food is terrible. Their chips and salsa are bagged tortilla (they say fresh baked) and Old Paso salsa you get in big bag form-while this is fine, it's about 3 dollars more than every restaurant in the area ( and they make fresh salsa). Their potato's skins ($10) were beyond terrible. They are five skins with some sort of like nacho cheese sauce-needless to say we didn't finish them. Onion rings were decent, reminded me of ballpark concession stand. There is just so much that needs to be improved. Cups are old and have brown stains on them etc. service was nice, quick. Seemed knowledgeable, we asked about their steamed shrimp and she was straightforward and told us they were not local but from Taiwan- $22 for half a pound. Couple of weekends ago, the weather seemed just right for a long Harley ride! I told my man Daniel that I'd like to go somewhere, anywhere, that we hadn't been in a while. He obliged-actually he outdid himself- and treated me to an awesome adventure to Crescent City, Florida! I'd never been there, so that made it extra special! Daniel wanted to take me to a restaurant he'd been before with his riding group...3 Bananas. The trip there was mucho fun! I'm a country girl, grew up on a farm. Although I've lived in Jax for more than half my life now, and am pretty city-fied... going back to my roots is always special. The ride to Crescent City was filled with abundant wildlife (roosters, bulls, cows, horses); wide green fields of fruit & grain, and so many trees! One of the best parts of riding is the smells...oh the backyard cookouts and pig roasts, and during this time of year-fire pits and bonfires, the heavenly smoky scent wafting in the air...!! Okay. I know, this is supposed to be a review about where we went, not how we got there lol. But I promise, it's worth the trip! So we arrive at 3 Bananas and there are a few motorcycles parked out front. Don't let that deter you if you're not into bikes or looking for a family atmosphere. Plenty of every day cage riders (cage is biker-talk for a car) were there, and besides, most of us biker types are a friendly sort! As soon as we pulled up, I heard 70's music playing inside and I knew we were at the right place! So we decided to sit on the screened porch overlooking the Crescent River. The music was not too loud-we could actually carry on a conversation-a huge plus! We chose several appetizers instead of entrees. The Creamy Crab & Shrimp Dip...the Pirate Fries...and the Buffalo Shrimp. Everything arrived very quickly and the service was just about perfect. The seafood dip was cream cheese based and served hot with warm grilled pita bread. WOW. I don't know if 3 Bananas makes their own pita bread or what, but it was absolutely divine, and a great accompaniment to the delicious dip. I never met a shrimp I didn't like! And the Buffalo Shrimp was tasty. Not the best I ever had, but not bad. The Buffalo sauce was a medium-hot. We asked for blue cheese dressing with the shrimp and I have to say, it was the thickest, creamiest, most tangy Blue Cheese ever! Tasted like homemade. On to the Pirate Fries. This mountain of straight cut medium size potatoes was covered with crumbled bacon, jalapeno (could always ask for jalapenos to be left off if that doesn't please your palate) and plenty of ooey gooey melted cheddar! Mmmm. Typical bar food, yes, but you really can't go wrong with this choice. 3 Bananas is one of those places you don't have to worry about what you're wearing. Porch seating is mostly picnic tables. Rolls of paper towel for napkins. Outside looks like it's probably hopping with boats and partiers in the summer-there is indeed a dock where you can tie up your water ride, as well as a bar at the end of the dock. Beer prices are too high. Serve good food and people will flock there. Great location and you feel at home but we have stopped going there due to the poor quality of the food. Most people I talk to feel the same. Last time I went I had the fried oysters and they were not edible. Told the waitress and she just shrugged it off.
