I'm just loving the whole chill vibe here, a laid back atmosphere, clean lines, it speaks to my minimalistic mind. This place is all about brewing a perfect cup of coffee whether you want espresso, a latte, a pour-over, or just a brewed cup of coffee. They pay attention to details like the pressure applied to beans and the temperature of the water they use to express the coffee. This isn't char-bucks, this is a coffee lovers paradise. The menu is minimal too, attention again to the coffee and the process; when you come here, don't expect a bunch of trendy syrupy drinks. Come here if you appreciate coffee. It's soon darn good. read more

If you are a true coffee snob and enjoy your coffee black- your taste buds will be grateful. Started going to 29th parallel during the pandemic since they were the only mom and pop coffee shop open at the time. This was their other location. Since then I've been to several coffee shops in the DMV and New York City and have yet to feel this level of satisfaction with the quality of coffee anywhere else. Amir does an excellent job of curating beans from different roasters and mixing it up to provide you with an incredible selection of coffee weekly. This Vienna location is significantly larger and would be great place to relax or work while enjoying nice cup of coffee. read more

Been here about 10-15 times. Before coffee has been okay and atmosphere has been pretty quite, usually too many people on computers. Today was their pop-up with Majlis on Saturday the 21st, Me and my girlfriend decided to try it out. For our drinks we ordered a hot mocha (~$6) for my girl and they had a Strawberry foam matcha drink for the pop up we were pretty excited to try. So we got that, with oat milk (for some odd reason we think matcha is best with oat milk, iykyk) ($8) For our lunch we ordered an egg & cheese on an everything bagel ($6) and the cream cheese bagel for the pop up. ($7) Which had Jordanian zatar olive oil cream cheese and honey on top. First our drinks came out. The latte was made very well, great rich espresso taste, thick crème on the top, not too sweet, poured a wonderful latte art for us. the mocha was a solid (9/10). Then the Matcha came out and it was very white, like there was not enough matcha in it, keep in mind a drink 2 mins after came out with a nice dark deep green color. once i had my girl try it and saw the other drink i had to say something about it. they tried to fix it but it didn't taste much different. very bland, subtle matcha taste but not strong enough after saying they added more (4.5/10) she told us to try it with water and it would be better. (then our bagel came out about 10 mins later. which was a bit long since the drinks took about 7-10 mins to make. so at this time it's been well over 15 mins since we ordered. they fixed my drink and we got the one bagel. Bagel was very good, nice crispy toast on the bagel but still very soft inside. cream cheese tasted excellent with honey it was a well put together plate. (8/10) still waiting for my egg & cheese a lot of conversation took place with other workers and friends of workers. They had a slight rush but nothing too crazy for a pop-up. we waited for 30 mins for my egg and cheese to come. still nothing i went back up and asked if it was coming out soon. they rushed and brought me out a a bagel and cream cheese. :( I told them this wasn't what i originally ordered and then they finally got it right after over 40 mins of time for 2 drinks and 2 bagels. I Spent $35 with a ~$1.50 tip included. i wish i could take the tip back. it was very expensive for the quality, service, and overall vibe of the place it is not a coffee shop i'll be coming back too. please spend your money and time elsewhere not worth it for what they charge and how long it takes. Giving this place a 2/5 or a 4.5/10, coffee was solid and food was good, needs work on the (FOH) front of house service. Hope to see them change but still not coming back. read more

As good as their original location in Fairfax! This space is definitely bigger which is nice. I enjoyed the coffee lo-fi beats playing throughout the day. My latte was beautiful and came out quickly. I got the vanilla latte, and really enjoyed it. read more

Ewww, I think they have terrible coffee. We need a Blue Bottle here. I've been meaning to try this place for ages, and turns out their coffee is pretty much the standard packaged stuff. They don't roast their own beans. I saw a package of prepackaged coffee, much like you would buy in the store. I got an iced latte, the coffee I find to be too acidic, too bitter and not smooth. Pretty terrible, much like a (generic) Nespresso pod I'd buy - not even as good as an actual Nespresso branded pod! I guess this is why the coffee prices seemed pretty cheap. The atmosphere is nice however, it'd be a good place to get some work done if seating is consistently available. read more

The best coffee place in Vienna. There's some competition around here, but 29th Parallel scores higher for the perfect latte and egg and cheese bagel. The service and ambience is everything you'd want out of a cafe and I'm going to consider working here sometime since it's quiet. I highly recommend this place which also scores higher than some other places around here on the sustainability front. read more

Came in at around 12:30pm on a Thursday afternoon. I ordered a mocha and a drip brew. I was told by the barista that they don't serve drip brew past a certain time and that they were out. He was genuinely apologetic. I asked then for a cold brew. They were also out of that. He suggested an iced Americano. The espresso was bitter and astringent, perhaps the shot was poured too slowly? I'm unsure if this was a bean or machine issue. 2 coffees totaled to $11. I think that's a bad value, given that the coffee was not that good. Ambiance was fine, there's a lot of space taken up by hard chairs. I might work here if there were comfier/cozier spaces and the coffee was a little bit better. read more

Cute coffee shop to work or to study at. Employees were polite and courteous. I liked the minimalist design of the coffee shop.

I asked for a drip coffee. I got it seven minutes later. I am still giving four stars because it's a young business and the coffee was top notch. They just need to learn to I have the cashier serve the drip coffee immediately instead of putting the order in the queue with the rest of the more complicated orders that the lone barista is preparing. read more

I've been lucky to have been a customer of 29th Parallel for many years now (going back to 2013 or 2014). It has been, and remains, my #1 pick for best coffee shop in NoVa. I don't know anyone who matches Amir's passion for coffee - I've wasted many hours away chatting about coffees, roasters, processes, gear, and many other coffee related topics in 29th, and it got me through college at Mason. The Vienna shop is an extension of all of that. This space has more windows and as a result more natural light than it's counterpart in Fairfax. It also has a more modern feel. The design of the store offers plenty of open space for customers to shuffle about in while ordering or waiting. I suspect plenty of great things to come from this location, and I'm sure it will quickly become a staple of the town. read more

29th Parallel is your place for a hipster, minimalist coffee shop vibe with great coffee. I just love this place. I've never had a bad or even lackluster experience. I always get taken care of quickly and I always find a seat. The coffee is always a notch above what you can get most places. I won't pretend to be a connoisseur and reflect on the different tasting notes or beans. But it's just good coffee. I adore the minimalist vibe here and beg this place to resist the urge to put anything more on the walls. The counter is a curvy thing of beauty. I always get the pour over. There are usually 2-3 bean options to choose from. But the best thing about this place: It serves coffee in actual mugs. This is becoming uncommon and I want it to hold on. I just love sitting there with a mug and clacking away on my computer, pretending to be doing something important but actually just combing the internet. Recommend. read more

29th Parallel Coffee - Vienna - Latte and pour over coffee from 29th Parallel. - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Vienna, Virginia

This is purely a review of the kouign-amann served at 29th Parallel. While driving across northern Virginia searching for the best kouign-amann, I sought out 29th Parallel based on their Yelp reviews. They served a kouignette, which I purchased mid-morning. I also picked up the kouign-amann at Fresh Baguette. I took them home and heated them equally for 12 seconds. Boss... It's the same pastry. I'm sure they get them from the same supplier. It's impossible to differentiate the two in a blind taste test. One might be a tad more brown than the other, but your guess on which one it is, because it's really variable. They are perfectly decent kouign-amann. If you're near 29th and want one. You won't be disappointed. But you could pick up the exact same thing at Fresh Baguette if you're closer to there. They're okay. I won't be driving across town to pick up either, but if I was in the area and wanted a pastry, I'd buy it again. It's a decent size. Really flaky and buttery, but it was missing some oomph. If you like your kouignettes a little less sweet, you'd probably prefer the ones served here. The service was friendly. 10/10 for the guy working the 10 a.m. shift Friday. Can't complain about the experience. But the kouignette wasn't mind-blowing. read more

I generally thought that the tall latte that I had ordered along with my chocolate biscotti was professionally made by the extremely talented and youthful barista. The dining room has only 4 tables and it is well maintained, taken care of, and organized by the management and crew. It is just as good as Weird Brothers Coffee and Peets Coffee. Wish they had one in Reston, Though. I would say that it is about a 10-minute walk from the W & OD Hike & bike trail. read more

This place is just ok imo. The coffee they have is roasted in Michigan - good but then there's Cafe Amouri down the street that roasts their own and has a much larger selection of beans/roasts for pour overs. We came here and got two pour overs - they were both good. Pour over is using a machine - I've seen these used and not sure if I would be able to taste a difference between hand pour over or the machine. So no complaints in the coffee except that bean selection was limited. What annoyed me a bit was the labeling when we took our pour overs to go - the barista wrote the type of coffee on the lid so I was smelling marker while I took sips with the lid on. Had to pop it off to not have the marker smell. read more

I'm loving it so far The espressos have been very high quality. Had a delicious cortado today that had a really nice flavor range. I'm sold! Keep it up! Looking forward for the ice machine to arrive - and for the grand opening. For now I'm enjoying the low key atmosphere and lack of a line - but I'm sure once word gets out this place is going to be so popular. Also, the staff has been great! Everyone I have met is really nice & welcoming. This bodes well. read more

Good coffee. Pleasant space, very nice staff. Ceremony coffee -- always a treat. Will return.

I went in to try this place out coffee and paid a decent amount for some drip coffee, it was colder than it should have been and super strong. One guy at the counter, not too much of a greeting, and the end of the day not really my thing. In Vienna, there are coffee shops around every corner so my suggestion for this place would be to up their game. read more

This coffee shop has it all. The staff are literal ANGELS - it was so busy when I walked in and they were overwhelmed with orders but they were still so patient and kind. It's a clean, well decorated location with great pour over options and bagels. I got the lox bagel. It was delicious but did come with a dollop of mustard which I am allergic to, but I didn't think to ask about toppings so that's my fault. Overall I love visiting this coffee shop on the weekend and have never had anything but a wonderful experience. read more

I typically do not yelp yet the reviews for this new coffee shop were misleading to say the least. After trying it for myself, I'm very unimpressed. The cappuccino tasted like dirt, worse, and the bagel for the lox was stale. read more

Loved the coffee and the service is friendly. We had a flat white with oat milk and a carpaccio. Both were very tasty! Will be back soon!

This place is peaceful and clean and it's a pleasure coming here. The baristas take their craft seriously and are knowledgeable, accommodating, and a joy to order from. They use highly regarded locally roasted coffee companies and the coffee comes out tasting like coffee should. They're on the expensive side, and they don't serve regular basic drip brewed coffee (no drip coffee machine). But for anything else, they'll take care of you. read more

This coffee shop has become out go-to. They make some of the best lattes in the area. The shop is cute and minimalistic inside. They are slowly building out additional food options on their menu and have tasty pastries, but the quality of their espresso is 100, especially when one of the more experienced barristas is making it. Plus they use high quality milk, which translates to a great mouthfeel from the creamy frothed milk part of the latte. And it's small enough that it starts to feel like Cheers, where everyone knows your name when you are a regular. read more
