I don't even know where to start. My father called this company about a repair job for our washing machine that suddenly stopped working. The "tech" arrives, and after only a few minutes, claims that the problem is the outlet on the wall and not the washer. He charges us the $70 assessment fee and leaves just like that. We're skeptical and check the outlet ourselves only to find they're working just fine. The technician left far too quickly (why didn't he confirm this himself? It just felt like an easy pay day for them rather than wanting to help), so I had to call up 290 to let them know the tech charged us for a completely incorrect assessment. They pass me over to the tech and he lets me know he'll come by Monday. Monday arrives and we don't hear back. I call 290 Appliance to confirm the appointment and whoever answered the phone informed me they would charge us AGAIN for the tech to come over. At this point, I decided to stop dealing with this company and called a different repair service that quickly diagnosed the problem within the washer (a connection in the door was loose) and fixed it within half an hour. When I let the gentleman know (I'm assuming the owner, but I really don't know who was answering the phone) that they charged us for exceptionally poor "service", he offered a $30 or $35 refund via check. Save yourself from being cheated out of money and avoid this place. read more

Worst experience ever! Was delivered a broken dishwasher, waited weeks for it to be replaced. Was told they needed to pick up dishwasher first and then replace it. Set up a time for them to come, and they NEVER SHOWED UP with absolutely no explanation. Terrible customer service, I do not recommend anyone shop here. read more

We didn't realize that this company was going to be the one called out as we went through a third party service. Tech was supposed to arrive between 9am-12pm and after calling them to ask when they would be coming, I was told that they would be here 1.5 hours late (outside of the time window). Tech was nice and respectful, and made a quick diagnosis. We were told to write a check to the tech for a down payment after calling the 290 Appliances number on the card we were given. I asked what the part number was and they wouldn't tell me. They also said they were charging the full hourly rate even though the tech said it would only take 20-30 mins of labor. On top of that, they couldn't give me a breakdown of their costs to justify the $400 bill that we were expected to pay, and ultimately told us that they didn't want to provide this service to us. This place is a rip off. their staff is not qualified to do any job, and they troubleshoot by guessing to keep you from using any warranties. They claim to run diagnostics, and they dont do any of the sorts. They came to my house multiple times to do the same thing over and over and not fix it. I attempted to use 290 Appliances for a service call on 5/27 to have them come to look at my oven. When I booked the company to come out, there was a $69 service fee. I received a call from Travis on 5/26 stating that they didn't have a technician to come out on the 27th due to a call in but they would send one out on 5/29. He also stated that the service fee was $99 because of where I lived and that thumbtack would not let them change the rate. I went ahead and agreed to the rate and the date. The technician came out on 5/29 did the diagnostic and called the next day with the price for parts and service. He said the part was coming from Dallas so it would take a couple of days. I was told that I would have to put down 1/2 which was around $240 before they could book the service. On Friday, 6/2 I called to book the service and pay the deposit. I spoke with Roy about scheduling, he agreed that he could have a technician come out on Saturday 6/10 to do the repair, stating that he could have the technician work Saturday instead of Friday. On 6/9 I called around 5:00 to verify my service appt for the next day. I was told by Roy that they didn't do Saturday appointments. I reminded him of the conversation I had with him the week prior. He then stated that the part didn't come in. I was confused as to why a part that was ordered a week ago wasn't in and why I hadn't been called. I would have been sitting home waiting on a technician only for them not to show. Roy then stated that he need to come out during the week and that the part is in but that can't pick it up until Monday, 6/12. He said that it was inconvenient for them to come out on the weekend because he had to pay the technician extra, although he had agreed to a Saturday service the week prior. Roy offered a $25 discount for his slip up but at this point I am no longer willing to deal with a company that does not uphold their price nor their word. I am currently in the process of requesting a refund. read more

Terrible service. I initially went through a third part repair service that contracted with 290 Appliances, so I was not even aware of the company until they came out for the initial review on my Bertazzoni microwave. I realize my microwave was high-end and required ordering parts, but they misdiagnosed the issues as being the magnetron, then spent 2 months trying to order it, and then finally when I showed up at their location I could see their level of disorganization which resulted in the wrong part order being placed. Another couple of months go by and still the owner (Roy I believe) was not able to get the part of get a technician out. Then once the part was in, they were short on technicians. All being said, I had the initial service call for 12/31/2019, and parted ways with them in September 2020. Poor management, poor service, and the place looks like a mess. I physically went there twice to speak to the owner and after reviewing my call log, had 15 calls with them over nine months. read more

So I didn't purchase personally from Roy over at 290 appliances however I did have the pleasure of meeting with him! My roommate purchased a washer from them a few months back but the timer broke. They were able to get the part within a couple of days of diagnosing the problem, were able to pick up the washer as soon as the part arrived, and took almost no time at all to return! Roy is running a fine establishment and I highly suggest coming to check place out. He's a nice family man, who genuinely works for his customers and will do his best to keep them happy. This is one of the most unethical and shady as businesses in Houston, Texas. Needed a repair to a refrigerator that I thought was going out by time. The technician came. The refrigerator was fixed. The technician went down, pulled out something and put something in that would $69 from the drive over here and then 200 and something dollars that was zailed to someone with by the name of T. After numerous attempts of trying to contact the technician getting the runaround hearing from like a track star, I finally got fed up and called the main office. When I called the main office they have no record of the ticket or the reference number that's on the work order. Come to find out it's the owner's grandson who takes contracts or business from underneath this on his grandfather's nose comes out and does shady work and gets paid on the side when contacting the grandfather at first he was a little concerned. He was going to give me a call when his grandson got in contact with him but his grandson got a contact with me first. Now it's more money that needs to come out of my pocket. When I talk to the owner of the establishment the last word he said was getting contact with him since he's the one that took your money. Houston Texas do not do business with these people. Beware! Like other similar reviews, I didn't reach out directly to 290 Appliances, they were subcontracted by another appliance repair number so I wasn't even able to read the awful reviews until after the fact. They sent someone out who scammed me; IE charged me money for a repair that was not done properly and then ghosted me. Left us with no operational oven for several weeks while leading us on the whole time. When I reached out to the supervisor/owner at 290 appliances, there was little sympathy to be had and I was told I would have to pay for any subsequent labor/parts on top of the money I had already been burned on by THEIR employee. So I will be starting over and taking my work elsewhere. Very disappointing, would NOT recommend. read more

The employee who they sent to fix our oven said she was the granddaughter of the owner. She asked us to write a check to her. We paid her $350 & she did not fix our oven. She dodged our calls & strung us along. Finally we called 290 appliances & they basically said it was our fault for writing her a check, & that we lost the money. They could send a new technician but we would have to pay for it. Any company not willing to back their employees for their customers is honestly junk. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. read more

DO NOT under any circumstances buy a refurbished refrigerator from this establishment!!! We have had nothing but problems since they came out to "repair" our old fridge. We decided not to repair and instead buy a refurbished refrigerator from them. The first one they brought us never worked. After 2 months of arguing with them, they finally reluctantly agreed to bring us another refrigerator (for another $250) We should have learned our lesson the first time. The second refrigerator they brought us lasted 4 months until the compressor went out. They came out for service $60, and said to fix it would be $600-700. They wouldn't charge labor because of warranty. The customer service is TERRIBLE, and the reliability of the appliances they are selling is definitely a gamble. I saw this company off 290 highway,something told me to stop. I've been looking for a affordable washer and dryer for some time now that new. I didn't stay in the building for 20 mins. The Hispanic lady came to assist us within minutes we decided on the Samsung washer and dryer. The owner or manager was sitting at his desk and the lady told us the price will be 1,100 for both the owner/manager immediately with thought said he will give it to us for 1,000 with a incredible warranty.
