This company was assigned a repair of one of my appliances by Lowes under an extended service contract that we purchased. The technician showed up, said he needed to order parts and we never heard from them again. They refuse to answer the phone and believe they blocked us after a while. After almost 2 months of trying to make this work, we contacted Lowes who then told us the technician filed a report saying he was unable to do the work because he claimed it was out of warranty. I am sure he got paid by Lowes for the visit, so it sounds like he is either mistaking us for someone else or... Anyway, Lowes said there is nothing we can do until we "make things right" with this company. I just called my credit card company and filed a claim thru them. So, avoid both Lowes service protection and this company. Update: called mrappliance.com who gave me an appointment immediately and repaired the appliance the same day. They are awesome. I will now update my claim with Chase Sapphire to include reimbursement for these repairs. Advice remains: avoid Lowes and all their fly-by-night repair associates. read more

We had a refrigerator serviced this past December. We followed the instructions provided to us via the owner, and at first the fridge seemed to be running okay but we noticed after a period of time it was not cooling sufficiently. It worked for about 12 hours, then started making noise. We contacted the repair man and he indicated that was normal for our model. We let it run a bit longer, but then unplugged it when it stopped cooling. We contacted the repair men and were told they were out of town; we assumed for the Christmas holiday and we would reconnect upon their return. My husband tried multiple times to contact the owner via call/text but no response or answer. When you call the number provided, it provides a disconnected message. I verified via our receipt that was the correct number. I then went to the business address listed at 10480 Grant Road Suite 112 today, however Major Appliance LLC is not listed as a current company, and a Counseling service is listed at suite 112 instead. We are needing our fridge worked on, as its still having issues. We have worked with the company previously with prior services, and have had no issues. While we don't want to assume the worst, and hope everything is okay, could someone please let us know an update? read more

This is a company I would never recommend to anyone. We own multiple homes in Houston and none of the regular people we use were available so we decided to give this company a shot. Have you ever been yelled at on the phone by the owner of a business because my sister can attest to that not feeling great. Have you ever been working from home for the day and mid-shower between calls hear the man who thinks he's home alone with your mom and the cleaning woman yelling on the phone at your sister? First of all - speaking in any raised tone of voice to a) a woman - unacceptable b) a customer - unacceptable c) someone who repeatedly asks you to lower your voice and control your tone - unacceptable The terms of service aren't given to you before hand so even if they come out to give you an estimate and have to remove a small appliance from bracketing to give you a diagnoses - they're going to charge you 65 bucks for the effort. The gentleman who identified himself as the owner said he's been in business for 40 years. Based on the 5 yelp reviews left by what I can only assume is friends and family....well....I have my doubts we weren't fed a few lines by someone who realized they made a mistake but rather than compromising or offering the diagnosis for free as the service charge was never discussed and securing the future business...this man chose to throw a tantrum and scare my mom who was home with him. Thank goodness I work from home the majority of the time. I was so disappointed and will be filing a complaint with the bbb and any licensing authorities in the state of Texas as well. I can't say enough about major appliance. Our fridge went out at 8pm and they were out the next morning at 930am with a new compressor. With 4 kids, you forget how convenient a fridge is until you are cooking out of an ice chest. The entire process was extremely easy and very fast. Major appliance was responsive, professional, extremely efficient and work was of the upmost quality. The entire process was done in less than two hours. I placed a description of my issue at 5pm on Yelp project "The refrigerator compartment is not cooling anymore after a power surge during an installation of a generator. it will not go below 51 degrees although set to 31 degrees. freezer at the bottom seems to be fine". Major Appliance diagnosed the possible issue based on my (bad) description. They are the only ones that gave me a idea of what I was looking as far as cost. But of course, they would have to look at the in person. They also would have to order the part. I agreed to the service call to verify the issue. They called me and said the part came in the next morning. Byron came out about within 45 min. and met me at my home with part in hand still in the Fedex bag. He looked at the issue removed all the shelves, food out and took the covering off. He said he found what he thinks is the issue. It was ice built up blocking air flow the refrigerator compartment that he showed me. He steamed the ice off. Byron told me he will not replace and charge me for the part, if it didn't need it. I ask how that could have, he stated could have been due to door not closing correctly. That is when I remembered that a couple of days before the installation of my generator my kids may have left the refrigerator door open overnight. DANG.... My refrigerator still 2 day later is now blowing cold again 33 degrees as it should be. The point is that these guys are very trust worthy. I appreciate the honesty and quick response time. I had a GREAT experience with these guys. They are HONEST and REASONABLY PRICED. My icemaker broke. They replaced it and we figured that there was another problem. It was a fuse. They came back and fixed everything. No weird charges, no nickel and diming for trips, etc. they stood behind their work. And they know what they are doing. They arrived when they said they would, looked at the issue and diagnosed quickly and properly. Quoted repair up front and charged what they quoted. I needed a new dryer on my Under counter Bar Refrigerator. Most other companies I called said they would not even look at it because it is a Commercial Unit. Unit is now working flawlessly 24 hours after, where it would not cool at all before. In addition they looked at a couple of issues I had and gave some recommendations at no additional charge. I will definitely use them again and I highly recommend them. Our 8 1/2-year-old Kenmor washer had been used heavily for several weeks and one morning water and suds poured out of the back. A plumber determined there was nothing wrong with the drain Major Appliance dispatched a technician who found nothing wrong with the mashine and asked a couple of pertinent questions: Do you have a water softning system? Once they found out I had a warranty repair they were non-responsive and of ZERO help after calling and texting several times. When my Speed Queen washing machine stopped working, I contacted Major Appliance, one of the few Speed Queen-authorized repair companies open on a Saturday. Eric, the owner, arrived at my house that same morning and immediately identified the problem. He called a supplier to order the two parts needed for the repair, then raced across town to purchase them. He only had half an hour before the company closed, but he made it in time. Back at my house, he installed the new parts, then provided me with tips on how to get the best results from my washer. He charged me nothing, I assume because my washer was still under warranty. Before I called Eric, I made the mistake of contacting a different Speed Queen-authorized repair company who misdiagnosed the problem and charged me $125 for a service called. Obviously that technician was clueless. From now on, I will rely ONLY on Eric. His professionalism, his honesty, and his knowledge level can't be beat. read more

Changed out a refrigerator compressor as part of factory warranty. Showed up as scheduled, called to coordinate arrival time, installed compressor quick and professional. Didn't cost me anything on a warranty, but I know from previous experiences, there are no cheap quality repair people. If you want stuff done right it will cost, and sometimes more than you want to pay, but quality repair people are not easily found. read more

because of the yelp ratings i contracted with mayor appliance which has turned out to be the worse experience of my life!!!! after payment of almost $1800.00 for a ge washer/dryer, they sent the appliance to be installed by installer david hernandez. d&l installations. the installer flooded the house and walked away. i contacted mayor appliance and they turned their back on me.....i could not get information to file a claim against either vendor. three weeks later i'm having to file under my own insurance, stuck with a deductible and mayor appliance wont't answer my calls nor give me the warranty and instructions that have been requested. the worst cons in texas---- stay aw major appliance! assume your responsibility! i pre-paid you.... i've got the invoice to prove it--- if you hot the money---you are liable for damages--- taking advantage of senior citizens is beyond f after months of wasting my time and chasing down your subcontractor that i was not aware of major appliances sending into my home..... you tell yelp that ive been covered through my insurance %...... who will cover my days without attending work, my $1,000 deductible and all the mopping and cleaning that i had to do.... no sir...... your customer service sucks !!! read more

Very disappointed with their service. In July the compressor in my LG refrigerator was replaced. Maybe with a new one, maybe not. Anyway in Sept it went out again. I had been complaining about the noise it was making as soon as it was installed and was told a noise complaint was not sufficient issue to replace the compressor. Apparently that was a precursor to the whole fridge going out again. Now no ice, no cooling and I am losing food, of course. They basically blew me off, now I will have to pay again for another company to come out. I hope they are better. No more LG products for me. Their customer service is the pits as well. read more

I've had Eric (the owner) out a few times to my home, and he's always worked with me to find the best solution. During the holidays I had an oven go out, and he even found a person that was trading in her new oven for a larger sized unit, so he got me that other unit to save me a fortune. Major appliance did a great job. He answered the phone right away, showed up when he said he would within 30 minutes of the 2 hour window, and was very friendly and helpful. He cleaned out the dishwasher filter and tied up the wastewater line above the level of the dispose-all to prevent backflow. He said that my main problem was that the water going to the dishwasher wasn't hot enough. It's wintertime now, and the water in the lines is cold, and the heater of the dishwasher doesn't warm it up enough to get the dishes clean. It also had trouble drying the dishes, which was also probably related to the lack of hot water. He recommended that I change the valve for my hot water under the kitchen sink to a double valve, and have the dishwasher water come from there instead of it's own line. He even drew me a picture of the valve that I needed to buy. read more

It was indeed a very rare pleasure to meet the two most pleasant, incredibly knowledgeable, efficient and generous people and they also addressed and fixed all of our issues! We had an LG dryer that was making a loud knocking sound and that was diagnosed and repaired the same day. We also had a Thermador microwave that had stopped working in the 1990s. They again were very familiar with this and able to fix the issue by replacing parts (and not a new microwave which would have cost perhaps $1000) that same day. The cost overall for the diagnostic, parts and labor was incredibly reasonable and they do guarantee their work for I believe 90 days. We noticed later that the power seemed to be cutting in and out on the microwave (unrelated to the work they had done). They came back to our home, diagnosed the issue and fixed it at no cost as it was related to some issue we had with a fuse (my apologies for not being at all technical about this!). They were so generous with their time and again incredibly efficient in their diagnosis and repair. If we could give 10 stars we would! We absolutely know where to go for any future issues and will very gladly recommend them to our neighbors, friends and family! read more

Wow! Do yourself a favor and call these guys. can't say enough good things about them! I called them mid-day on Saturday about our LG washing machine. We had a major leak. I hadn't been able to wash clothes all week! I called them and Byron came over within 2 hours. He had the machine opened, found the cause and had it fixed under an hour! The whole thing cost $129! Other companies wanted $100 just to come diagnose the machine. Byron is a super nice guy and made it a pleasure to work with him. We were about to go to a laundromat.
