Their Raider gear policy is ridiculous. Basically, if you don't have Raider gear on, you can't watch the Raider game. For years Raider fans have been unwanted in many bars in LA. Now the "Raider Nation" bar has banned Raider fans for not wearing Raider gear. Brruuuuhhh. When I walked up to the bouncer, I was like "Is this a joke? Am I on camera?" I equate it to not having the secret word to get into the tree house. Childish, right? Located on the most developed area of Alhambra this bar is a nice place to come and grab a few drinks with friends or co workers. The music is a little loud and mainly alternative/rock music so if that's not your thing than you might find the music a tad annoying. The happy hour food is decent especially the empanada and the lettuce wrap. Pizzas are made in a stone oven so it's pretty delicious. Beer variety is always changing so it's good to know that the owner is not complacent and is on top of the trending beers. I took a few of my girlfriends bar hopping, and randomly entered this place. The ambiance is quite sweet, neon red back drop behind all the sweet poisons, flat screen TV with choices of sports, and cute bartenders. There is a lounging area near the entrance, and a small dance floor is right there for you when you are feeling tipsy. The back area has a few tables that's more private and intimate, perfect for a hang out after dinner on a date night. Live DJ on weekends. The DJ was awesome and bought my friends drinks after drinks, I guess he could use some lady love as well. The crowd is very lay back. A long maroon hall way lead to the bathrooms and the back patio designed for smokers. The patio is connected to the small common garden area, nice a quiet place to enjoy a breeze of fresh air. The drinks are delicious, large selection of beer on tab. The one thing I am not entirely satisfied, is that they stopped serving food after a certain hour. Some greasy fries or spicy wings would marry the cold IPA and complete the experience. Seems like they just had a name change. Same staff, same setup, but a more sports bar/lounge menu. Happy hour from 5-8pm, which is $4 wells, $1 off beers and wine. Not a super wide range of beers like 38 degrees, but they got all the essentials covered. A few craft beers, some imports, and good ol american domestic beers. Had the hot wings during happy hour $6 dollars, decent portion for $6! I think it was 8 pieces, comes with a side of celery, carrots, and ranch. Sauce is not super spicy, but still has a kick. They fry their wings, so make sure to ask for extra crispy if you like "the crunchy." The service is decent, but when it's busy the bar can get a bit hectic. I think there was a new girl when I went last time. The crowd here is not like what you would find at the other bars on main. Always an older crowd, I'd say late 30s and up for majority of the crowd. Good place for big parties. This is the spot I like to go in Alhambra if I don't feel like waiting for a table on game nights. There's always a seat here. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing. It was a Friday night around 6:30. We first checked out 38 degrees and they said a 45min wait. Then we went to Gen kbbq and they said 1 1/2 hours to 2 hour wait! So we went here and there was no wait, so decided to try it out. This place is primarily a bar, they looked all prepared for standing room bar action since there were only barstools out. We had a party of 5 so they brought out some chairs so we could sit around a regular table. Overall the food was pretty decent. Out of the appetizers, the beef empanada was pretty good, the buffalo wings were pretty standard. Since I already had fish and chips on my mind, I ordered their fish and chips. The fish was crispy on the outside, juicy inside. They served some kind of dip on the side that wasn't tartar sauce, not sure what it was. It was ok, but we asked for regular tartar sauce. Overall, food was pretty decent. As far as the bar, happy hour is from 5-8pm which is nice. I had a guinness from tap which is always a plus when a bar serves guinness. The music was a bit loud, but the drink specials were decent. 2 for 1 well drinks (both need to be served) and $1 off tap beers. The tap selection was pretty comprehensive. We didn't try any food. The vibe was fun as customers were dancing and having some serious fun. A few large LCDs playing games for the night and a relatively large seating area makes 28 West a bar worth checking out. So i guess Draftpicks still gets our patronage 5$ pp and beer buckets 15$/6. 28 west charges 10$/pp and no drink specials and they said it gets packed and they only have 3 bartenders fight nights. The bartender was nice. HH is not comparable for the area, CT's, shakas, 38 & Vinos are a way better value. This place has craft beers on tap, but if you have no knowledgeable staff to sell them what's the point. The young lady was not interested in the beer, so the young man stepped in and helped us he was knowledgeable, but he can't serve everyone. It wasn't busy at all during HH. I kinda stumbled into this place after looking for somewhere to grab drinks and food in the area. Once we walked in my boyfriend and I were quickly seated and it was about 9pm on Saturday. I took note of the atmosphere once I got in and saw a lot of people inside so I thought it must be decent enough to try! Without knowing anything about this place, being new to Alhambra and exploring the scene and all, I thought it was pretty good for what me and my boyfriend were feeling that night. I was a little surprised after reading other reviews about bad service and management, but I didn't even know this was a sports bar lol. Thankfully we didn't experience any off-putting service from the waitresses, they actually seemed on top of things. The atmosphere was loud and we were able to enjoy our experience. The only bad part was that we were seated right next to the DJ so my boyfriend and I had to yell the whole time. Not to mention, they played some interesting songs but they also mentioned someone was celebrating their 50th birthday and played some oldies (not sure if these two things are related or if they just don't play today's hits). I really enjoyed the drinks we had. I got the Basil berries and the bf got the Skinny Hendrix Martini. They were delicious and if I had to come back here I would just go straight to the bar. I came here on Saturday 10/27 to watch the Dodger Game ve Red Sox. I want to say i got there at about the second inning so maybe around 6pm. We got IDd to get in and my boyfriend was patted down. Walked inside and there were not tables available luckily we were able to find a seat at the bar. People were definitely there to watch the game, and it was a good atmosphere. The girls at the bar were attentive, some friendlier than others. After our disappointing loss, the DJ started the party. We actually stayed and enjoyed ourselves dancing with the good old music... you know cumbias, reggaeton old school reggaeton. Caught this place red handed attempting to rip us off on our bill this weekend. Unreal. Some family and I came down to catch the Covington/Usman fight after a baby shower nearby. This used to be my preferred spot to catch the UFC cards when I lived in the area. Always vouched for this spot, and brought a good amount of people here over the years. So as the main event is about to go off the waitress comes by and tells me that our bill is going to be around 400$ (there were 8 of us, 2 of which left relatively early) and I told the waitress that seemed high, so I asked her to split it a couple ways being I myself only ordered 2 beers. She comes back with the bill not split like I asked, showing that they want to charge 500+ dollars to my card, because of the added "service fee". LMAO WUT? Now, it is entirely possible to rack up a $500 tab at a bar with a handful of people. I know what that looks like though and this was definitely not it. We'd ordered a couple baskets of fries and a couple orders of tacos, which there was another mysterious order of tacos on our bill, as well as some other mysterious beers and drinks that NO ONE could explain where they came from. I pointed the manager to my 2 Lagunitas beers, and said why are there 4 on here? Waitress disputed saying that I ordered 4 which was untrue. When that failed, she said my friend had ordered them, which he hilariously replied that he doesn't even know what Lagunitas is (he's not a beer guy). 0 for 2. Over the next 40 minutes or so we spent talking to staff and management about how there was several things on the bill we never ordered and what this huge service charge even was. Manager initially said he looked on the camera and confirmed the bill was correct (lmao confirmed all 70000 drinks on the tab being brought to us on camera in under 10 minutes ok) which was pretty aggravating knowing we're fully underway in this Tijuana scam job. Cousin lost his cool, said he's not paying the incorrect tab, walked outside, where security would not let him back in. The weird part was, I was being very patient with the staff genuinely feeling like this can be fixed, and I also was not let back in, with my card still inside, unable to dispute these charges, watch the main event, and get ready to head home. Another staffer there was being pretty helpful and communicating with me when I was pointing out the incorrect additions to our tab, and removing them. He told me that the waitress was being dishonest by adding the service fee, and there were several things on there that were double charged, and she was going to end up getting sent home. He was making a ton of sense explaining how the tab got to be that far off and was the only person working there who seemed to have their head outside of their culo. Anyways, manager went and reduced the bill a couple times, with the final one coming down to $300. At this point, we'd totally missed the main event, a couple people in our group were seriously pissed off, and I just wanted to get out of there, so I agreed to pay it, EVEN THOUGH THERE WERE STILL ITEMS ON THE BILL I COULD CONFIRM WERE FALSELY CHARGED. After the fact, my cousin told me it felt very suspicious that the waitress was insistent on stopping him from going and placing his order with the bar and instead taking it herself. And upon going on Yelp, I see a review from less than a month ago where a patron said he also encountered a shady waitress looking to overcharge him. Anyways, what a bummer. I've only been here once for their Taco Tuesdays and found their tacos to be pretty good. They're similar to the ones you get from the taco trucks, except you can't load it up yourself with all the onions, cilantro, and such. Boyfriend and I visited last night: Atmosphere: it's a sports bar, but has lounge decor? I was a little confused, but sat in the booths, and was comfortable enough during my visit. The Booths tables are 2 put together, a little ghetto considering you can't separate booth seating. The television access was awesome, couldn't miss anything of an event. Food: we had empanadas, tacos, wings, and pizza. The wings were my favorite: sweet chili. What's with the drizzling of basil on everything? Lol I really don't get how the chopped up spice was a garnish, just looked messy, and added awkward flavors. Prices: not even close to worth it. I understand it's in a busy area, but that doesn't mean i should pay $8 for 5 traditional wings. Where they good? Yes, but BWW has better prices, for the same flavors. 11" pizza and a pitcher of bud light for $25?! That was their "special" mind you. Our server said their pitchers are typically $25 by themselves. Right next door is 38 degrees: higher quality of food for the same prices, just FYI. Beer selection was okay, I think more Amber, stouts, and wheat ales need to be considered. Not everyone likes IPAs, and the menus were flooded with them. Service: it was great except one person. The seating a hostess was adorable, the manager was very cool, but our server just had this look of "hurry up, I don't care" on her face. Maybe that's just her face? I don't know, but I'd rather our greeter serve us. I really appreciate how they informed us that there would be live entertainment later on that evening.
