Tried again after our last mediocre dinner Arrived and…read moreseated right at 3pm open. The place filled up quickly. Sat on the covered portion of the patio. It looked like the tables and seats had not been wiped down prior to opening. Started with Try'A Rita and Classic Old Fashioned. Both were balanced, fresh and tasty. Entrees were the 18 oz filet done Med-Rare and the Walleye Fish Fry. Filet was done perfectly on the inside but the outside crust was a bit dry. Overall though, a very tasty piece of tender steak. Walleye had a tasty, crisp breading and excellent cole slaw. French fries were AWESOME and some of the best we've had in awhile The entrance hallway needs better lighting at floor level and a handrail! It is also extremely slippery if you are not on the carpet runner and we avoided a very scary slip due to a misplaced cane tip. Staff was very responsive and reacted in a split second which was comforting to see their concern.

You can't have as extensive of a menu as you have and not excel on the all-you-can-eat Walleye fish dry. Yes, I said 'dry' because that's what all of the fish fry dinners were in my group, there was multiple. All over fried resulting in a dry and tough meal. Walleye is some of the best, if not THE best, fish to use for a fish fry; yet the cornmeal-ish breading which is over fried, resulted in the least flavorful and least exciting meal I've had in well over a couple of years. Don't get me wrong, the outdoor space is beautiful and spacious. The weather was absolutely gorgeous. The service was spotty; yet multiple instances in my group of the same AYCE fish fry with ALL being the same over fried and dry experience = it's going to be tough sell to get me and my crew to come back. Set a timer to ensure the fish is not over fried, pay attention to said timer, even get feedback from your customers to improve or even change your breading/batter. Our dinners were the black-eyes on the evening, of what otherwise was a great evening! Truly hope things improve in the kitchen. Wishing the Krapil's Team the base as they are an institution on the southwest side.

There's something really nostalgic and comforting about this place. I'm always impressed when a…read more"quick stop" actually stays quick, but still delivers quality and flavor that feels authentic. The minute I walked in, it reminded me of the old Maxwell Street polish spots from back in the day here in Chicago -- that same classic neighborhood energy, the smell of the grill, the no-nonsense good food, and that feeling that you're getting a true Chicago experience. The difference is this place has a brighter, cleaner, more updated atmosphere while still keeping that old-school soul alive. That balance is hard to pull off, but they do it well. And today being Mother's Day made it even better. They gave my mother a free hot dog to go, which honestly was such a thoughtful gesture. Little things like that matter and show appreciation for customers and families coming in to celebrate together. Great food, fast service, friendly people, and a touch of classic Chicago nostalgia. Definitely a spot I'll keep coming back to.

They don't have much seating maybe a few seats but it was clean and inviting. I ordered the 3 original tenders with Mac & cheese, golden sauce and cluck sauce. No pickle. Cluck loaded fries. The Tenders were big as I was only able to finish 1 1/2 and they were fried perfectly. The Mac & Cheese was amazing and I wish I had a bigger amount. My Favorite sauce was the golden Sauce. Place is simple, nothing crazy, a few photos of the food on the walls so you already know what you're getting into. Staff was chill, not over the top but friendly enough where you feel comfortable. I got the mild Nashville burger. Two juicy tenders, pickles, crunchy coleslaw, and that wild Cluck Sauce. First bite was incredible, all my taste buds were activated at once, I was getting sweet, tangy and a little heat from the spice sneaking at every bite. Not heavy, not greasy, just pure balanced flavor. The pickles and coleslaw cut through everything, so every bite feels fresh. It was a beautiful and tasty mess. Honestly, finger licking good. I thought about grabbing another one to go but honestly, it's not the same at home. This is one of those sandwiches you gotta eat fresh, right there!. I'm already planning to come back.
